Disappointed to hear about Tommy Macs performance inn the reserves. I thought he was pretty close to debut earlier in the season, but injury struck. Hopefully he can get some form up quickly and maybe get a crack before the end of the season. I still think he is an exciting prospect, and as a really young tall when drafted i think he is worth persisting with as he may prove to be a late developer.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hughes in for Robbo this week.
-
Did you notice there was barely a replay of these contests, let alone a mention of it. I am sure it's the old attitude of "of course Ablett is going to be able to beat his younger opponent and goal".
-
This pretty much sums up my whole feelings on the issue as well. I am going to hate the football over the next couple of weeks. Just on a side note, does anyone else feel in a roundabout way that we actually got a priority pick in last years draft? What combo would you take if you had the option now in hindsight. Watts/ Natunui or Watts/Jurrah? We essentially lucked out with Jurrah being granted an exception to go through the preseason draft, and although he may not have been rated as top 10 prospect, we are now fortunate enough to have him on our list.

I think the major problem we have is that the next 4 games are all winnable. It may be one thing to tinker with your teeam from week to week based on your opposition, but to do it for a month straight will be pretty hard. I am still predicting we will win 5 or 6. I just can't see us losing the next three in a row.

Something about Jurrah that I never expected

Seeing as Buddy already wears 23 for Hawthorn, I'd like a point of difference. It's a shame Bell has another year on his contract because 21 in the tradition of Dominique "The Human Highlight Reel" Wilkins, would've been nice. -
I guess the hope is we have 2 or 3 players more worthy of a tag come Grand Final day, and Brock(or us) won't even have to worry about it.
-
Can anyone ever remember Brock shaking a heavy tag? I can't.

GAME DAY - Close one down at Geelong
Jerry Lundergard replied to melbournefc18's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we need to master the art of the disguised "throw" in contested situations, because Geelong have made it an artform. -
I thought that's what everyone wanted at this stage of the season. If YM is right, most people on this forum should be begging that these players are played for the remaining games.
-
Freo is a dead set certainity. Swans, North and Tigers are all 50-50 IMO. Three games at 50% chance to me says we will win at least one.

I have a question about Watts for those who my have seen more of Casey than me. Do they kick it to him much? It's just that every time i watch Casey play, they very rarely will kick it to Watts in a contested situation, which makes it hard for me to judge him sometimes. Maybe he doesn't present and needs to increase his work rate, or maybe they just prefer to kick it to more mature bodies in contested situations. Like I said, I am not sure, but when watching the games on TV, i'll see a player with the ball and I'll be thinking Watts must be down that way left of screen somewhere, but the ball never seems to get kicked to him.

I am not saying that winning a flag won't win us respect, but not laying down in games to obtain draft picks and still winning a premiership would earn us much greater a respect. There are a lot of posters on this forum who seem convinced that the only chance we have of winning one is by getting the PP. It may increase our chances talent wise, but it is no guarantee to success.
-
How long does that respect last for, because I don't think there is much respect for Port Adelaide right now. What about Carlton? How many people outside their own supporters do you actually think will respect the Blues if they win one in the next 2-3 years? Not many I would think.

There is so much crap getting posted on these forums is starting to make me sick. One of our best players of the last decade is playing his 200th this weekend and all people can do is get on here and rubbish him over the fact he says on live radio that he wants to win games?????? I am very much over all the PP talk and will cop whatever comes our way on the chin. I want Scully like everyone else, but if we win too many games and lose a pick then so be it!
-
We may need to get a tanking board up and running, this is getting out of control. I personally wish the PP no longer existed so none of us would want our team to not win.

Sylvia's Replacement for the next 3 weeks??
Jerry Lundergard replied to Bates Mate's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well done to Lynden Dunn today. I am one of the few on this site who thinks he may yet turn out to be decent footballer and have a place on our list, so hopefully he can build on today's performance and keep his spot in the side for the remainder of the season. -
A few people should have a read back over their past comments on Ricky and have a rethink. I've always thought Ricky was going to be a player after his outstanding debut, and he has obviously had a few setbacks, but he was fantastic today and when we get all our forwards up and running and he is getting the other teams 3rd or 4th defender each week, i think we will see more games like these.

In: Bell, Dunn, PJ, Newton and Bartram Out: Sylvia, Bate, Jamar, Jurrah and Grimes There is list management and a loss all in one. I was all for winning as many as possible earlier in the season, but at this stage when we have no chance of finals, it would p*ss me off if we were to win 5 games.
-
Does Jack Grimes get a trip to the Brownlow this year? That game should see him finishing as a top 5 vote getter for us.

A NEW YEAR, A NEW ERA AND A WISH FOR JIM

I was at the kids clinic on Tuesday, and Watts was about the only player not there, as they had training after it. As it is school holidays, i presume he must have been sick or he would have been there. -

Just wondering what people thought of Dustin Martins game yesterday, because he hasn't been mentioned much, and i thought he was also a standout in what was the best game. He doesn't look the quickest player, but he got plenty of the pill, and used it equally as well both left and right. He reminds a little of Dal Santo with his class and poise. The way they were talking about him yesterday was that he is a late improver, so he may force his way into calculations in the coming months. -

Sorry, but it is ot the end of the story. You don't go and pick up a KPF just because of one example in the draft history where it didn't work for one team picking up two midfielders. You pick the two best players available, and if they happen to be mids, then so be it. We have holes over most of our list, except maybe in defense. If we picked up a KPF just for the sake of picking up one and he didn't work out, then we just become an example brought up by other teams for future drafts, like people are using the Tigers at present. -
Agree i on your observations there. Morabito has the touch of the FIGJAM's, not sold on him Butcher looked about half the player Vickery was last year, and he went at pick 7. Jack Darlingwill be a future gun,and also hated as much as Lloyd the way he stages for free kicks. I loved Rohans speed, as well as his chasing and gut running. Martin just looked a class above, excellent on both sides of his body.

Le Cras would tear Bruce a new one. Frawley played on him really well before getting injured at Subi, so i think they may resume their battle this week. Unless Grimes is going to play in the guts, i don't think he'll be matching up on Kerr.
