Did we just have an earthquake? Or was that the weight of the Norm Smith Curse being lifted?

What happened in this particular event? Multiple sources would be welcome, however further evidence that it was an ugly outcome would disappoint but not surprise me. For context, the period during the Napoleanic wars and post-Napoleonic depression were barbaric times. What white people were doing to white people was unconscionable by modern standards; add racism / ignorance to that and the probability of unreasonably excessive brutality towards non-whites is high.

I'd suggest that you smile sweetly and respond "yes he is quite good, that's why the AFL coaches votes had him tied equal 2nd with Ollie Wines...13 votes behind Clayton Oliver".

Being told the MFC will never win another premiership because of what I wear to the game - I fail to see how adhering to the Long Room Dress Code impacts on the team's on-field performance. Years ago I had the pleasure of meeting legendary Demon stalwart Shaun "Duxy" Dux (see below) at the Cricketers Arms when we were all having Won Beer* after a then rare win (against GWS). Duxy stated that he thought that my jacket, collar and tie was part of what was holding the MFC back. However, Duxy did have the good grace to concede my point that if the players were all looking up in the stands to see what I was wearing then they really didn't have their minds focused on the game anyway. * Got home at 2am, wife was confused by my voicemail...she thought that I'd be home after one beer. Better days ahead Duxy!

It's fine to have a different perspective SWYL, but please don't equate a game of footy to going to war. Most of us (fortunately) have no idea what it's like to be under enemy fire; I have mates that have been and they find the analogy to sport both laughable and offensive.
