  1. Big country style player. 6”4 forward. Battler. Workhorse. Plays like … young suburban CHF. Huge shock with quality youngsters on the board and Brew or Henderson available. He will scare a few VFL backman again in 2025. Casey recruit A WRITE UP After moving from Lavington, Johnson entered the 2024 season with only one game to his name. Moved in 2021 and got one game. Injured through 2022 & 2023. But with a strong pre-season, including a standout performance in a practice match against Geelong, Johnson was selected in Werribee’s Round 1 clash. After he missed the traditional jumper presentation before his debut, Dom Brew, ahead of the matchup with the Cats, presented him with his guernsey, acknowledging Johnson’s perseverance: “You’ve had a hard couple of years, and you finally get some reward.” Johnson made the most of his opportunity, kicking his first career goal and gathering 14 disposals. Johnson went on to feature in every game up until sustaining a bicep injury in Round 13 against Sydney. Remarkably, he returned after just one week and hit a rich vein of form, kicking eight goals across the next three matches. His breakout season concluded in a seventh-place finish in the best and fairest count and a premiership medal. Reflecting on his journey, Johnson said, “This year I got my body right. I dropped about 13kg. I felt on top of the world, and it has all come together.” As Brew spoke highly of Johnson throughout the year, Johnson shared his admiration for Brew, saying, “Dom Brew has just been massive. We work together as well, so we do a lot together. I was in a pretty dark place with all of these injuries, not thinking I was going to get back, but he helped me work through that.”
  2. Aidan Johnson. Wow. Thats a Smokey. Saw him in the VFL GF. Forward. About 6”4. Workhorse type. Strong battler who have 100%. A huge surprise!!! Bloke you’d see in the country footy league. Not sure if his history prior to VFL. NO HENDERSON OR BREW!!! the two obvious Werribee likely draftees
  3. Eagles … Hamish Davis at 65. That’s a robbery !! Eagles drafting has been strong. But again won’t know until 2028 or beyond. Lions … pass !!! Three picks. Two academy and a father son. Recruiting team must have had a busy year
  4. That is pick 60 done and Josh Murphy , Cochrane, Davis, Dennis all still available… wow. Deep quality in this draft. Even VFL stars like Henderson and Brew not picked yet. @Nascent Thought that Stumpf’s performance at the combine might just about get him picked late. He was probably a rookie chance but clubs sometimes value the bigger guys with good athleticism and pace . Still plenty of picks coming up …
  5. Agree. Though always clearer in hindsight. Maybe we could have held the pick 46 or 54 back. Guys like Clancy Dennis or Hamish Davis are still available! I thought they’d be gone by now. Even young Jasper Alger still not picked.
  6. spirit of norm smith 16,400 Posted August 30 One kid out of Queensland that has improved this year is Ty Gallop. Plays key forward at local club Maroochydore in QAFL as a 17 year old. He’s not Jed Walter but can take pack marks, loves a goal and has physical presence even as a youngster. He can kick 45/50 metres easily. Records this year shows kicked 8 goals in 3 Coates league games for the Brisbane Lions academy, 4 goals in 2 Under18 championships games for Allies and Kicked 30 goals in 9 QAFL games for Maroochydore (including 16 in last three games of the year). Dominated the last game of the year versus morningside. He is unfortunately tied to the Lions academy but sure to bolt up recruitment lists. Not sure the Lions have ability to match as they will have invested heavily in Ashcroft and Marshall. Aggressive young key forwards are hard to find. Might not be top 50 but Dees have to find some gems with skill and some real toughness in their style. Reminds me of Logan Morris in style.
  7. 🤞🤞🤞He’s still available… 🤞🤞🤞
  8. Pick 75 … getting closer !!! Hurry up and pick already … Hawks waited 27 hours to pick !!!
  9. Surely Freo pick Hamish Davis ?!?!?! Clancy Dennis?? Others are still there …Gross? Dodson?? They must be getting anxious. It’s tough for these kids and their families 🤞🤞🤞
  10. SEN commentary. Wow. One knows most of the players. The other bloke has zero idea … he’s reading off rookie central apparently. It’s amateur hour !! 🤯🤯🤯🤯
  11. He said that he’s back running as part of rehab. But I think he’ll be carefully managed in his program so have to consider a potentially restricted time in any preseason games.
  12. What Lindsay said: “She’s probably on the money - I’d rather eat than cook,” Lindsay told Fox Footy after being asked about his mum’s claim that he can’t cook.🤣🤣🤣🤣 He also said being drafted to Melbourne is a dream come true.👏👏👏
  13. Still strong talent left to pick up for those clubs with picks in the next few rounds. Definitely more talented youngsters like Moraes, Jack Whitlock, Hamish Davis & Tom Gross. Dees linked to Jack Henderson from Werribee who had an outstanding year in the VFL.
  14. We watch on tomorrow night to see. Henderson might get his chance.
  15. Dees are the only ones with the balls to make the bid … others like Blues & Crows & Kangas were gutless imv Two minutes as a Demon 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good luck Levi … welcome back any time.
  16. Happy to see these cards Langford at 5 Lindsay at 9 as I predicted and hoped for 5 weeks ago !!! JT 👏👏👏👏
  17. Thanks @adonski you were always a believer
  18. spirit of norm smith 16,351 On 17/05/2024 at 21:01, spirit of norm smithsaid: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Last weeks Coates League player of the week was Gippsland Power captain Xavier Lindsay. Had 32 disposals in the midfield, with high efficiency, using his left foot deadly disposal. He had the good mix of skill, smarts and athletic ability. Lock him in as a future star.
  19. And now he’s a Demon … welcome Xavier Lindsay
  20. Step 1. 👍🏻pick 5 Langford
  21. Welcome to the Dees … Harvey Langford 👏👏👏👏
  22. Agreed … was thinking Chris Judd 🤣🤣but that’s very optimistic 🤣🤣
  23. Cal must be listening in … Sydney has been linked as a possible home for Luke Trainor, whose aerial talents will appeal.
