  1. I don't think the two would be related, i know it's over a decade ago but when we signed Paul Roos we allowed him to continue media commitments beyond that point for the remainder of the season, and i'd suggest that would be exactly the same with Bucks
  2. I do find this interesting. Chris Scott inherited a premiership list and was very fortunate in a way to get the first flag out of the way right away, Hinkley and Scott after that actually had really similar records in terms of being consistently around the mark without perhaps cashing in, Scott has probably tipped that further in his favour the last 3-4 years, but the idea Ken Hinkley can't coach is silly.
  3. Honestly i think memories of Mark Neeld will be the reason we're super reluctant to hire any of the potential 5 untried assistants in this process, the huge bonus with Nathan Buckley is we know for sure he isn't going to be a Mark Neeld, which wouldn't matter as much for most clubs as it clearly will for Melbourne
  4. You’ll find yourself on the coaching team with that attitude!!
  5. I like the idea the club just literally forgot to announce this and it's all just one giant misunderstanding! while it'd be an ordinary look it'd be pretty funny.
  6. I personally get anxious when anyone commits to anything so i am hoping for a coach who is neither here nor there on whether the team actually wins games and instead prioritizes the players having fun and being good sports.
  7. Cal left my name off the short list because he thinks it's a [censored] take but i can assure you it's not. Beard and i will be joining the Dees
  8. Correct. There does seem to be this weird pattern where an assistant that puts his hand up and misses out too often falls out of the thinking for a role, i think a lot of the assistants probably are thinking of that in this regard, perhaps it's not worth the risk if their chances are slim to none
  9. Yep. i'd take him as a rookie, if not as a late pick in the main draft.
  10. Kentfield is such a good prospect. i'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't play regular senior footy next year.
  11. You have to wonder if the potential availability of Curnow does make the Lions doubt the Oscar Allen signing, i mean it's clear which one most teams would choose of those two given the choice and money required.
  12. If you were Carlton you could say something like "Don't negotiate with us, call Port and convince them to send us Zak Butters, if you can organise that, you can have Charlie in a 3 way deal.
  13. I think this is incredibly true, Fagan is an obvious success story, but David Noble was an absolute disaster. I can see why we'd want him to be part of the process and his experience added some sort of appeal but i think the AFL world at times gets sucked in a little bit to what's trendy, Fagan had done ALOT of coaching even before his role at the Hawks so it wasn't foreign to him at all.
  14. I'll put my hand up to manage Tracs socials if i get to eat the food he makes! i had to unfollow him because i was getting too hungry and wanting to make it most days!
  15. Langford would be the clear number 1 pick in this current draft, and Lindsay would very likely be top 3-4. the trade ultimately was win-win for us, Lindsay is highly skilled, a great young leader and person and his first year was a little bit interupted with a serious pre-season injury. i'm really excited to see his 2026 after his first full pre-season, i agree i think he can be at least as good as Langford, he's got so many great assets and he's already shows he's comfortable at the AFL level
  16. I do think Spargo has really high footy IQ and io can see why he'd appeal elsewhere, it's hard to make these decisions without a coach though, of our final 6 prospects, how many of them rate Charlie and would want him to stay and how many would be happy with a compensation pick and money off the books?
  17. While i am not doubting the posters who are saying he's signed, perhaps he has, i've got no idea. I don't really understand why we would make such a song and dance about saying we announced Goody sacking as soon as it happened because that's the right thing to do and then re-sign Judd and wait to announce it. if that's happened it's a very odd inconsistency by the clubs decision making.
  18. Charlie Spargo and pick 23 for Zane Duursma sounds okay. North wouldn't let him go cheeply, but JT rates him extremely highly, he's got connections with the MFC and he clearly wants a better situation for himself. apologies i didn't realise he was a free agent. perhaps insert name here instead. maybe Steven May might appeal to North?
  19. I don't think you can measure defense in statistics. they've been unable to consistently compete with the tops sides despite having an offensive setup essentially all of the other 17 clubs would take given the chance. good teams close down the game, don't give them time and space and force the game into an arm wrestle which exposes their lack of defensive "finals like" habits. look at the 2021 grand final. when they game stopped going entirely their own way they couldn't even give a yelp. like us, nothing much has changed structurally for them since 2021.
  20. The dogs entire problem in my opinion is while they have a very good coach, they have the wrong coach. i think under Simon Goodwin they'd be a consistent top 4 team because the ball movement goody wanted would have worked a whole lot better with Naughton, Darcy, English and so on and then a proper defensive structure they'd be really really hard to beat. Defense is still the king of championships in all team sports, you can't only focus on defense and be successful, but if you ignore it, any success you do achieve would be an unsustainable fluke, hence 2016
  21. Max Gawn doesn't need to maintain his current form for very much longer to not only be the greatest demon ever but to be firmly in the conversation for the greatest player ever full stop.
  22. My vibe. Which is based on nothing but my own reading because I have no clear intel and wanna stress that upfront is that we haven’t got a firm yes from Nathan Buckley and it’ll be him if/when that comes We’re running a process in case he says no and our senior coach in 2026 will be one of Nathan Buckley, Corey Enright or Danny Daly
  23. I mean he’s a 4 x premiership player with 319 games played so I’d say he’s probably already more qualified than a lot of people who are or will become assistants in the next few years. I think he’d be a great person to get involved if he wants to be
  24. See I wonder that too but then I think. If we could announce bucks tomorrow I don’t see why we would waste our time running a fake process which erodes trust in the industry. My guess is we think it’ll be bucks and we hope it is but we haven’t got a firm enough yes yet. Which does make some of our other decisions odd
  25. While I’d be absolutely thrilled to have cam Bruce I do find it really strange we’d be trying to attract assistant coaches when we don’t even have a senior coach and presumably they’d want to bring their own team
