  1. Ling would have played the role of an on field assistant for a good part of his career, in fact bomber confirmed that, he has also played a leadership role under two different premiership coaches, just because he hasn't officially been an assistant coach doesn't mean for a second he hasn't taken on those responsibility's to an extent as a player, this is the advantage of a past player over someone who didn't play AFL.
  2. You are absolutely right but that leg up probably makes it nearly impossible for someone who hasn't played afl based on where we are at
  3. of course it is, don't underestimate the extra development of 10 years of playing under various AFL coaches, i mean you look at Brett Kirk for example, he has an in depth understanding over a long period of time of how Ross Lyon, Paul Roos, Rodney Eade and John Longmire coach, and that's before he even becomes an assistant. that's a huge leg up on someone who hasn't played AFL.
  4. Savage left hawthorn for more game time... If we offer schroder more game time we are a chance.
  5. Oh I agree, but I really couldn't blame any of the GWS players for wanting out, the other clubs have the chance to cash in bigtime, I reckon if we lose chip we should throw both top 10 picks, at them and see if they want to hand us Treloar and Cameron, or Treloar and Shiel
  6. I reckon Hardwick is going to find it very difficult to last out the season if they don't get a few wins on the board in the second half, heard a rumour Worsfold might be sniffing around incase that job becomes open.
  7. A bloke involved at hawthorn said they inquired and were told we had offered an attractive 4 year deal and he was very interested but GWS weren't happy with it, they felt they would lose Tyson at some stage anyway and I actually think we got the better of the two players anyway.
  8. He was really keen to come to us last year because we had a great deal on the table for him but gws had the contract over him, we might have left the offer on the table.
  9. I'd say round 1 2015 is when he will play imho
  10. Watching this i felt Kirk really holds alot of the same values as Roos.
  11. I'd say that's a bigger scale than just the game plan, more the defence/team first attitude and culture.
  12. I reckon Grimes will follow Robbie Gray around pretty closely, he's ranked up there with the best few players in the comp at the minute, and i reckon Cross will run with Boak, Viney and Wines go head to head which imo will be awesome to see, and then Vince, Tyson and Jones will just do their thing. the really big question for me is how do we stop Port from scoring so heavily simply for us to be in the game.
  13. Does anyone know when Brett Kirk's contract is up at freo, as we learned from Stuart Dew, a Successor position is not considered a direct promotion and as such Fremantle could block him leaving while under contract.
  14. Jeremy Cameron says he has no plans to leave GWS
  15. What would it realistically take, 1 mil a year for 5-6? and the trade, our first pick and a player?
  16. I think you will Find Jesse Hogan weights even more than what I am suggesting for Watts and is only slightly taller. so yes, I work in the fitness industry and I believe given his weight is around 86kg now, if he were to work on bulking up he could be 196cm and 96 kilo without any real issue if he were playing a key post. so essentially as this would be a process that took time, he would gain bulk, then turn that into lean muscle, he would only need to put on 5-6 kg to make significant gains in upper body strength, again it's just my opinion that i'd like to see him as a key position player, and I feel he needs to bulk up and improve his strength to do that.
  17. The better teams would have to give up quality players to make it happen
  18. I have always rated watts as a forward ( just my opinion ) would like to see him become a key forward down the track, geez Hogan really Is a man child isn't he
  19. I'd still like to see watts put on five to 10.kg and play a key post
  20. I reckon Cameron is looking like being the best tall forward in the comp for 10 plus years, Fyfe and Danger are gun mids but I reckon Jack Viney and Dom Tyson could be as good as those types so i'd take Jeremy.
  21. the other thing to consider is that Jeremy is going to cost at least a mil a year which I think he's worth, but also probably our first pick and a player, who would you be willing to part with to land him? get ready for them to ask for Tom Mcdonald and pick 5 or something like that, if we were to land Cameron it wouldn't be cheap.
  22. The other thing that I think is getting overlooked here is that quite often captains and senior players fill an unofficial coaching role while they are playing anyway, understanding and explaining the game plan, providing the young players with tips and that sort of thing. Brett Kirk to me is an ideal option, Ross Lyon and Paul Roos are not blokes to pick duds and they both clearly rate Kirk, and he would walk in knowing the game plan inside out and be able to bring some tricks he has learned from Freo also, plus the other thing which is less relevant is I would say Kirk probably demands less than half the salary Bomber would, freeing up money to maybe bring in Ling or Voss as an assistant as well.
  23. Hogan and Cameron could well be a dangerous forward line for the next 10 years and add dawes and watts to that and we are in a good spot 4 year deal 1 mil a year to get an all Australian key position forward who is only 20 and still has miles of room to improve. Sydney have players on that or more, hawthorn would be paying buddy that if he stayed, Geelong players take pay cuts to stay together but our culture isnt at that stage yet.
