Kelly is impressive there is no doubt, certainly a 200 gamer I have heard a lot of people who rated Salem as the second best midfield prospect behind Kelly so I reckon we could win this deal in a big way

they have both shown glimpses of class, i felt Salems game against Port was as good as anything Kelly has produced, Salem has also spent a lot of time up forward so he hasn't been able to rack up the numbers Kelly has at times

If that's the case it's a terrible rule, it's essentially saying Watts should not try and spoil the ball incase he makes contact with someone afterwards, it's a mans game ffs, imo it was a terrible decision whether correct by the letter of the law or not, a match defining decision was made that penalised a player for attacking the ball 100% and rewarded a bloke for simply standing in the way.

I still think his years of playing under 2 different premiership coaches and being part of one of the greatest periods of sustained success as well as being a premiership captain during that time means a lot, i feel he would understand a lot about values, ethics, communication, structure, player management and so on, over the two years Roosy could fill in the gaps of in box coaching and so on, plus with assistants like Rawlings, stone, Roos and so on his inexperience isn't an issue imho

I'd be pretty surprised if we didn't get band 1, simply because he would be missed, the contract signed and age of the player come into account so 4 years at $500 for a 25 year old former all Australian defender is a big hole, but then if the panel feel we don't receive the compo we should they can recommend a different band, so i reckon they will understand a senior player and a leader is a huge loss for us and push it to band 1.
