  1. Yeah I agree, I think that was a huge issue last year, I reckon people now see Mfc as having a pretty good young list and some good direction, the fact we have a great coach and get to play on the MCG every other week are small bonuses, I think with Jeremy Cameron in particular is that the Giants are in a fairly similar position in terms of development, we probably have a few more senior players, I reckon we could well follow the dogs path and improve significantly next year, especially if we add Cameron and a couple of decent mids, and the natural progression of our players, as well as Hogan, Trengove and Cross coming back into the mix
  2. One measure i'd like to see come in to replace the priority pick system is if a side finishes bottom 4 two consecutive years they are awarded 2 mini draft selections that allow the clubs to trade for one of the best 17 year olds in the country, if the picks aren't traded the side can sign 1 17 year old themselves and develop them ala Hogan I think this system will help prevent sides hanging on the bottom for too long and give them access to more top end talent, imagine last year us being able to sign a player like Brayshaw and develop him all year.
  3. I wouldn't rule it out, they may want something on top of that, 3, 4 and Blease for those too? the thing is they're trying to widen the age gap of their list, and I think they have accepted that the nature of the path they are taking will see them lose players due to homesickness and so on Losing Cameron would be very difficult for them, but it's handy they have Boyd, Tommlinson and Patton waiting in the wings
  4. They are going to be really fired up to get back on the winners list in a big way, even to steady the ship because of their indifferent recent form, and to get a win for Dom
  5. I wouldn't be surprised if Matt Jones is one of the first picked each week, he works his guts out and seems to play his role every single week, he provides a good bit of speed and run and can tackle, if he improves his disposal he would become a very complete player in my eyes
  6. The difference from my point of view is Chip is a free agent, all 18 clubs know he is fair game, there is a chance some clubs don't think they can realistically get Cameron, because of not having the trade assets, or the money to attract him or whatever the reason may be, a dream off season would be to land Cameron and a couple of good midfielders Cameron, Shiel and Mitchell would be a great outcome for the club
  7. I agree 100% with you, I think money, Roosy and playing on the G are the three big draw cards we have, it was just a strange way to deflect the question in my opinion, I would have expected something along the lines of " we're talking to a whole lot of players and considering a whole lot of options, if it's indicated the Jeremy may be gettable then i'm sure we will sit down and have a coffee and see where he is at " to say he has absolutely no idea kind of seemed like he was a little bit caught out, I find it hard to believe he wouldn't have a list on his desk of every player we are chatting too and how likely they are to come to the MFC
  8. I agree, I have never seen Ling as the sort of bloke to compromise on standards, he knows what sustained success looks like, what it takes to achieve it and I don't think he would take a backwards step on instilling that into a group
  9. I find the part about Jeremy Cameron interesting, Roosy has not denied the club has made contact, just says he has no idea about it, which I find strange, if a club was going to make what would presumably be a multi million dollar pitch to a player to join the club I would have thought the Senior coach would have a huge amount of say in it. I'm not really sure how it works with the recruiting staff if they are just given a brief of what attributes the club needs and they go and get the best players around to fill those roles, but I would have thought no player was coming through the doors unless Roosy wanted them
  10. I agree, I reckon Treloar is about to stamp himself as one of the best mids in the game, i reckon Shiel looks a really good player as well, would happily part with picks 3, 4 to pick up those two, offer 600k per year each and see just how loyal they are.
  11. Only chance is if Dangerfield tells them he will walk as a free agent for nothing if they don't trade him, which would mean paying massive dollars, I reckon given the situation of our list we need to try and land 3-4 players who are going to make an impact rather than 1 superstar
  12. I reckon we need to give Jay and michie another look
  13. Sam Mitchell would be one, not sure other than that.
  14. I think the thing for me is the quality of the side Bb, I reckon Jack will improve as the side does, if the ball was coming in fast and clean alot more he would become more dangerous, it would be interesting to see how watts would go sitting in a pocket at say the hawks But I agree he just doesn't want the contest at this stage
  15. Really wish we chased miles last year, we would have got him for nothing and he's playing great footy for the toigs
  16. I'm not arguing jacks worth Bb, I'm arguing that roos clearly has some faith in him, several statements in which he defends watts publicly would make him look pretty silly if he trades him at years end.
  17. I reckon you're right, we have a huge amount of cap space to throw around, we will look at anyone and everyone who could add something to the team and pick the best we can get of that group
  18. The obvious Nick name would be Ronald or blue
  19. Another big turnover beckons at the end of the year methinks
  20. Anyone got a link to an article or anything?
  21. Was never intended as a definitive statement, just a suggestion that the amount of public support for Jack Watts individually from Roosy suggests that he rates him a little bit more highly than the demonlanders calling for his head, a lot of whom called for Dunns head, and Pedersons head I was one who called for the heads of Dunn and Pederson and others at various stages and I am extremely happy I have been proven wrong.
  22. To be totally honest Ahern interests me a little more than Brayshaw, wouldn't be upset if we pull the trigger possibly a little early on him. what draft range to people see Wigg going? would our second rounder be in the frame?
  23. Which I fully support providing all individuals involved are either not there anymore or have served any bans they are given, I really like the idea of each club having an AFL appointed full time integrity officer to prevent these things before they become a media circus.
  24. So you can say with 100% certainty that Roosy doesn't have exactly the same view behind closed doors as he does in the public, despite Jack playing every game this year, and Roosy defending him on more than one occasion. I will happily have my slice of humble pie if Jack is offered up for trade at years end.
  25. Assuming the turn over a good part of their list perhaps the afl would hit the club harder, although the label of drug cheats won't wash off anytime soon, especially If hird remains at the club
