  1. Alot of the midfielders seem to have lost pace and as a result they are rushed alot of the time, possible the hard pre season program is just going to take it's toll for a year or two until we get up to scratch?
  2. Are you sure you're a Melbourne supporter? he was a great player for us, gambling is an addiction not something you can just flick the off switch on and he was very strong to overcome that, inspiration or not, your club is in a hole, this bloke could and has offered to help the club so i don't really understand your objection.
  3. Lets say we get pick 2, IF we were going to entertain trading it, they would have to offer someone like a Nat fyfe or rory sloan for me, which they won't, Gaff would be a great get, but if he wants to come to Melbourne, west coast could be pushed down to a second round pick rather than get nothing for him, I think Free agency will see alot more compromise in the trading scene
  4. Would it really be the worst thing for Mark Neeld to say to Jack Trengove, " Look mate, we think you can be an elite midfielder of this comp but are starting to be concerned the captaincy may be weighing on you, how would you feel about being part of the leadership group and having our blessing to focus 100% on becoming the best possible footballer? " if he wants to be captain that's fine, the worst scenario would be that he feels he has to be. Keeping in mind my preference is he remains captain, i think if he had the last two full pre seasons he'd be the player we all want him to be and he wills till get there just in time to see us rise up the ladder.
  5. One line he uses that i absolutely love and has me sold that he should be involved in some way is -" i will do whatever it takes, i just want to help" lets be honest, fixing the Melbourne football club is going to take a long time, it's going to require hard decisions, honest people and the comps most loyal supporters the ox will provide those things, Not so bothered about Mark Neelds feelings at this point, i like him as a coach, he is very methodical believes in structures and setting high standards which we need, unfortunately i feel that there is something he is missing, not sure what that is, and unfortunately i think that will cost him his job, and that he knows as well as the ox that if he doesn't pull off something special he won't be there next year. 3-4 wins against expansion teams won't and shouldn't be enough i don't think. Having said that there is no way the ox should be senior coach next year either!
  6. You have a good point about Craig, so perhaps a different role, my preference would be to have Williams as coach, but that's just me I think brett kirk would bring that brotherhood, if that would be the correct word, from sydney and really give the players a midfield mentor who commands the respect of the people around him, I have been fortunate enough to meet Brett and i can't speak highly enough of him. The players need someone to inspire them, Mark Neeld is a big fan of the reality bus and that's great but you never hear guy mckenna or Kevin Sheedy saying we can't win because we are younger, to me that's totally the wrong message and the players and coaches should believe they can win every game they play
  7. i think realistically if we are going to persist with Neeld we should consider spending the money to get choco williams to come over as a head of player development coach, let's not leave any more of our high draft picks to under develop as they seem to be doing, consider trying to appoint cameron ling or brett kirk as a midfield coach ( two blokes from the two best cultures in the competition ) they will quickly identify the differences and work to fix this David Misson i trust to know what he is doing in terms of the fitness side of things, has been involved in good teams, knows what it takes and has done wonder for our injury list Target an elite midfielder plain and simple we need at least 1 quality midfielder this trade period Be honest and open with the fans, we are struggling and it's hard for everyone but i don't believe our chance to have a successful period like Geelong or Sydney with this group is gone if we work things out now.
  8. This is someone we need at the club in an official capacity, bleeds red and blue, very honest and passionate, all the things the Melbourne football club should but sadly doesn't currently stand for.
  9. Was really good to see him lay a couple of big bumps!
  10. It's abit of a worry isn't it, Hope the big fella is okay.
  11. Any chance at all of both clark and dawes being right to play?
  12. We lack a genuine superstar to show the young players what's required, abit like gary ablett is at gold coast Otherwise the question becomes will Trengove, Grimes, Viney, Toumpas, Jones and co be good enough to win us a premiership Clark, hogan, and dawes will all be good targets for us, Byrnes and davey aren't going to be in our next top 4 side so we need quick crumming half forwards 3rd and most important is we need to resign james frawley if possible, the bloke does a really good job considering the pressure our lack of midfield puts him under. Sacking Neeld is tempting because we are going through a very hard patch but odds are it would lead to another untried coach, another period of transition and good chance another sacking. Watts i think needs to play Forward, he looked good there, he was drafted as a forward and it might be just what he needs to get his confidence up again
  13. Peter jackson i think will be fantastic for us in this regard, pretty confident there will be a few personal changes and alot of people put on notice
  14. The only knock i have on Trengove is that i'd like to see his 20 touches 10 tackle games become 30 touches, he kicks goals too which is always good for a mid, i think when he takes that step and gets a little more of the ball he will start to show how good he is really going to be. his zip will come when his fitness does and he fully shakes his injury
  15. It's pretty hard to defend a coach who is happy with a five goal loss in a very winnable game, lets be honest here we should have gone very close if not won this game, and it's not unreasonable to think a developing side is going to beat another bottom six side
  16. we need at least 1 quality mid, dale thomas would be great if we could get him.
  17. Makes you wonder where this form was last year from moloney
  18. which is amazing coming off basically no pre season and a stress fracture, i still think he needs another 2-3 weeks to get match fit and maybe longer for his foot to feel really good
  19. Seriously.. average 10 tackles a game, top 5 in our disposals, captain of our club coming off a very serious injury, the drug claims on his shoulders only a 64 game player in a struggling side it's really unfair to even compare him to someone who goes into a side like that with protection of 5-6 200 plus game midfielders and a license to attack with no real expectations
  20. Happy with Trengove all things considered i wouldn't consider his form an issue, happy with how we are going absolutely not because most of the team lacks the effort Trengove puts in.
  21. Brisbane aren't that flash, we had an opportunity to win this game, 5 goal loss is not something you should accept in a winnable game, i don't care if it's played on the moon.
  22. Today was his 64th game, he is coming off a very serious injury, clearly underdone and a massive off field distraction and those are the factors we know of. he has had what 17 touches 10 tackles i'd say that's acceptable the biggest problem is we expect him to play like a 164 game player, he isn't it's a big effort to be out there at all Not where i'd like him to be as a footballer either but to say he is deserving of the comments that are being made about him is insane.
  23. I really hope watts plays forward the whole game next weekend, and clark is fit having said that good chance we will get smashed out of the middle again so either contain carltons small forwards or we could be in for a big loss
  24. Been watching his press conferences mate? he has been strong and confident under alot of pressure and is really growing as a leader and he has had 10 tackles today ( indicates he works very hard when he doesn't have the ball ) to do that two weeks in a row coming off a stress fracture is very impressive, we had quite a few worse players than trennas today.
