season 2023 was ordinary but we'll always have that we started Essendon on their losing spiral out of the finals
-
Cameron Schwab again? 😂
-
My cynical side says pushed. If it was planned we’d have a replacement lined up. And further to that, it looks as though the Caulfield role is about defraying to cost of the payout. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pert the consultant disappear
-
You fair dinkum want me to list them? In no particular order - May & Melk punch on Claz’s ‘health’ problems Trading Oliver 2023 Trading Oliver 2024 Legal dramas Constant rumours about Goodwin’s off-field behaviour Disgruntled ex-doctor Joel Smith fails drug test Handling of Trac’s recovery Speculation Trac wants out Constant leaking of confidential info to the media Plans for a home training base seemingly going nowhere Absolutely cooking the 2023 finals series Grundy recruitment & subsequent trade President going MIA for most of season 2024 & subsequently resigning Constant negative media coverage Meekly accepting the AFL’s handling of Brayshaw’s concussion & eventual forced retirement And I suspect I’ve missed something I’m not saying Pert is individually responsible for every one of these but he is the CEO, the buck stops with him

Shannon Bloody Byrnes

This thread has to be up there with one of the most deranged I’ve ever read in this forum 😂 @RickyD posts to explain the reasons for the open letter & ppl are acting like he’s a double agent sent by a master villian to destroy the club Pert has been the CEO at the helm of the post-2021 debacles. How he’s managed to exempt himself from the review, I do not know. But it should be admired, because it is a master piece of bull****ery

Here’s a solution - don’t sign the petition. Easy
-
Hahaha, neither can our match day announcer - Robbo says it wrong every single week
-
Schwab did plenty of wool-pulling himself
-
They’ve all played their part but I would hope the club would be aware of any meetings. Especially after telling the media ‘we’re bemused by this trade talk’…and the next day Clarance is meeting with Geelong
-
The club not knowing about this meeting is such a bad vibe. We always look foolish & scrambling to cover ourselves
-
Wouldn’t be surprised if this happened as part of an attempt to keep brand Petracca happy
-
At the time I said ‘that’s his one overhead mark for the day’ 😂
-
Was that mean to sound mansplaniy or it just came off that way?
-
Same! The tone of this article really irritates me
-
It's triggering because Chris Scott is an obnoxious Karmichael Hunt 😂😂😂 He was a 🤡 of a player but made the most of what he had. And has done very much the same as a coach - an expert at maximising what they have and under him Geelong have stayed successful. Still can't stand him though
-
Earlier I called Henry a sook so am taking credit for his two clutch goals
-
That was a miss of Eishold proportions

They’re not because Friday & Saturday evenings aren’t a big audience. networks love sports like AFL & tennis because they’re a baseline & draw a consistent audience. That’s why they spend so much on the rights. And then they use the sports programming to pre-promote other programming in their networks. But compared buying spots in The Block, AFL games are comparatively cheap.
-
Thursday is the only prime time in that bunch, Friday evening & weekend are off peak. Footy ratings are consistent but outside of grand final & state of origin they do not record big rating numbers
-
Footy, other than the grand final, doesn’t rate that well and games are largely outside of prime time - so it’s never that attractive for advertisers. Notice all the ads are at a frequency of 4+ a game? And it’s the same batch of advertisers? I’ve seen the AAMI three times already in this prelim. That’s a sponsorship package rather than a regular buy. What makes a football sponsorship valuable to a brand is the cumulative exposure to the audience. The happy days of being able to buy a spot in Friends at 7:30pm on a Tuesday & reaching 1m+ ppl are long gone.

If you were a Sydney supporter you’d be annoyed every time Alir touched the ball, they were stupid to let him go
-
We finished fourth then kicked 7.11 & 9.17 to go out in straight sets by a collective 9 points. It’s hardly a stunning success.
-
Hahahahac other than us last year
