  1. Max was stumped by the question ‘who’s the next captain of Melbourne’. So I feel slightly better about not having an answer myself 😂
  2. So the AFL’s direction is to take short steps at a contest. Good to know
  3. When we recruited him my Essendon supporting mate said ‘you’re going to love him’. And he wasn’t wrong
  4. This is what worries me. Players who are now experienced - Rivers, McVee, Bowey, Fritsch, Sparrow (obviously didn’t play tonight) - regularly make dumb decisions with the footy
  5. We’re awful. Even when they fight and win a hard contested footy they don’t have the skills to execute. And 2026 is going to be a repeat of what we saw tonight
  6. If Koltyn turns into the equivalent of Warnie then we all owe you a beer
  7. Improvement is relative when you look at the trash we dished up in the back half of 2024 And it was a win against 16th who had two key players out. Hardly a sign we’re ready to storm the top four in 2026
  8. At the peak of ANBs development phase I remember someone tweeting ‘If near-the-ball was a stat ANB would be Patrick Cripps’ 😂😂😂
  9. Sitting there today at half time and they’d thoroughly given me the 💩 I had the thought that maybe we all - players, coaches, supporters - were so focused on that one premiership that we got comfortable/complacent. It was a good result today however I’m depressed at the thought of sitting through 2026 watching exactly what we saw in today’s first half. Which is what happens if Goodwin is there in 2026. However much I appreciate and respect Goodwin for 2021 the moment has passed and he’s not the future.
  10. Sorry what was that parade of players wives and kids? Here is the fruit of our club loins? It’s very old fashioned
  11. in our game against GC they stopped, we just weren’t good enough to catch up.
  12. Yikes, the 7 AFL wardrobe department must like Dane Zorko as much as I do 😂
  13. If any of the Lever reports were true do we really think other clubs would seriously be interested? Setting aside his form, his physical condition alone would most clubs say no thanks. From a trade bait perspective i personally think it’s Petracca and Fritsch who have currency
  14. Anyone dreading next week when Carlton break their losing run?
  15. I can’t argue, could totally see it happening
  16. Looking at this from a different perspective - If you’re a club who may be interested in Trac or Oliver, who’s the more attractive proposition? A former Norm Smith winner recovering from a horrible injury, or a former gun midfielder who made his own downfall? Trac is a far safer option and is going to have more trade currency than Claz. That might be the decisive factor in which of them stays or goes
  17. FFS you must be fun at parties. I used the word miracle in the sense that for us long term supporters who’d gone years without success, it was miraculous.
  18. One can only hope Goodwin worked a miracle and won us a premiership but his time has passed. If we don’t make a move soon 2026 will be a write off
  19. Sorry I’m so late to this conversation but I’ve heard nothing about the players asking to reduce their contact hours. Have I been that distracted by how bad we are that I missed it? When did that happen
  20. Conflicted, really wanted to hear from all those North champions but could’ve done without roaming Brian
  21. Hold on, I like McVee, no need to insult him with the description ‘a Nick Maxwell type’ 😂😂😂
  22. This question has broken my brain. There’s not much to choose from. Bowey is a possible vice captain but I’m struggling to think of anyone with captain potential.
  23. Personally I think that particular headline is a reflection of the frenetic clickbait nature of all AFL journalism. Every discussion is turned up to 11, every tiny incident is scrutinised & magnified. They all trade in hyperbole and drama. I don’t think they target MFC specifically but as we’re going badly we’re giving them plenty of cheap touches regarding any MRO type incidents the media, in particular the commentators, seem to want to be judge and jury. Today [censored] Dwayne had Viney cited and suspended despite the umpire calling play on (though in this case Jackie might be in trouble😂). Same applies to the McVee bump against Port, they were talking like he was suspended before the game had even finished
  24. The worrying thing is with a new President and new CEO due to take over will they take the risk of getting rid of Goodwin? If we don’t we’re consigning 2026 to the bin
  25. The problem is the way we play we’ll never know if Jefferson is up to it or not. Our forward line is like the Mt Everest death zone for young forwards
