Steven May Suspended for 1 Match
There was nothing smart about that bump. The area above the shoulders not just the head is protected if an earlier poster is correct and to me that sounds logical. If there is doubt the club will appeal

Steven May Suspended for 1 Match
if it is only the 10k risk then appeal. Does this come out of the salary cap or the soft cap

Round 1 Team
On the Casey website they have yesterday's match listed as the only practice game. Hard to believe given the VFL season does not start until April 7. Perhaps the other games are not listed https://www.melbournefc.com.au/casey-demons/vfl/fixture

Round 1 Team
One thing we need to develop is a settled side. Early last year and in 2017 we had a revolving two or three players that would go up or down from Casey depending on form. Unfortunately there seems to be a high chance of that repeating itself over the next few weeks. Stretch and Hunt haven't really done enough to press for senior selection but many have them in the side. If Viney doesn't play we could even see Maynard again. Say what you like about the JLT games but none of the fringe really demanded a spot. Of those first three games I would happily take two wins out of three. Make no mistake this is our window and we have to make it count.

Target 70,000
you can even dream of the Crows where there are waiting lists for reserved seats during the home and away season. Not many three game memberships for them.Their revenue stream must be enormous. On the other hand as I understand it the licence is owned by the SANFL so I suspect a fair bit of their profit goes to keep up that competition.

the actual bias let alone the systemic bias in favour of the large clubs is incredible as we all know. Disband GWS and GCS... transfer them to Tassie as a combined team perhaps. Drop to a 16 round season alternating home and away each year. Geelong plays in Geelong... end of story. Start the season a month later giving AFLW some clear air and move AFLX to VFL level. Perhaps a wild card play off on the week off between home and way and finals. Strangely enough I think attendances in total would not alter too much and the TV stations would bid the same money.

Goodwin signs on until end of 2022
The coach salary as I understand it is part of the soft cap. Does anyone know if we have traditionally spent the whole of the soft cap? Of course for the big clubs if they exceed the soft cap they just pay a dollar for dollar equalisation tax

Target 70,000
In our heyday our crowds were boosted by the MCG affect. Every opposition supporter looked forward to a day of relative comfort at the MCG by comparison to standing on the terraces at their local ground. It was also the day that the family came along with the traditional male supporter. As our tenancy became less exclusive so went the competitive advantage at the same time we absolutely stank on the field. The perfect storm. We have a very long way back.

can't see it happening 55-60k would be a great outcome and could move us past Carlton

Foxtel Sports aka Kayo
Well I have now subscribed to Kayo and can report that it works well after watching a little of the JLT game between Essendon and Geelong. I have installed the app on my nvidia shield. Had the occasional buffering issue but I suspect that was caused by my VPN slowing down the internet speed. Where I am located they are now offering cheap broadband plans (around A$30 per month) with 1Gbs speed so with a bit of luck that should take care of the buffering issue. An enormous improvement over watching the low quality SD broadcast on the Australia Channel

Salem Re-Signs Until 2021
Quite rightly Weideman is waiting a while to sign. If he has a 40 plus goal season his worth will be considerably more whoever he signs with. Trade value aside if Hogan had stayed Weid would have been off at year's end. Now the equation is a lot easier.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
wind off the bay and the cost of the land could be issues..... Mind you a train ride to Footscray/Newport reveals a lot of old seemingly underutilised industrial land. In the eighties and even today there was a big push for building something and then selling the surrounding land at a profit. Bond University on the Gold Coast and the myriad of golf course developments around the world were examples. I wonder if we could get a developer to build around a training facility. Stranger things happened in the 80's I can assure you.

Illicit Drug Use in AFL
In the world of illicit drugs this one has to surprise: "The world No 1 bridge player has been suspended after failing a drugs test.Geir Helgemo, who is Norwegian but represents Monaco in bridge events, tested positive for synthetic testosterone and the female fertility drug clomifene at a World Bridge Series event in Orlando in September. Kari-Anne Opsal, president of the Norwegian Bridge Federation, said the drugs were “not performance enhancing” https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/mar/01/world-no1-bridge-player-suspended-after-failing-a-drugs-test-geir-helgemo PS Geir is a male by the way

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
lot of love for the old Punt road but I just don't think it will cut the mustard as a training facility in twenty years time. The trouble with Olympic park is that there are space constraints and heritage overlays from some of the 1956 buildings. There's a reason the Pies will be moving

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
This option is dead not so much because it is impossible but because its implementation will involve so many compromises that if it ever gets off the ground it will be a less than adequate facility compared to those of other clubs. Time to go back to the drawing board and think again. I would not be surprised if Collingwood moves to something bigger and better in the next ten plus years. They have to spend their money on something. Richmond could bite the bullet and do the same. The likes of Esssendon and the big interstate clubs have given us a glimpse of where the training facilities of 2030 and beyond are heading.

Foxtel Sports aka Kayo
bought one a few weeks ago but have not got it connected as yet. They put out a new model last year (the one I purchased) so fingers crossed it's a good long term (3-4 year) investment

the whirlpool consensus on this is yes as Loges says
-
Foxtel Sports aka Kayo
Yes it has wifi in the sense that it connects to your local wifi network to stream but it has no ability to connect to the web without the aid of another device such as a phone or PC
-
Foxtel Sports aka Kayo
Hi Clint as I understand it Chromecast is a good but "dumb" streaming device so no. It also has no wifi itself. It is taking the stream from your connected device. Apple TV seems to work well according to the techos on whirlpool. The main issue they are talking about is whether the devce has an automatic mechanism to alter the refresh rate from 50 to 60 to cope with the different streams. I think Apple TV has that ability but worth checking

yeah it seems that Samsung and I think LG are on the "too hard"list for the moment Not sure why as for example Sony appears to work well Samsung was incompatible with ABC I view for a long time which caused a lot of gnashing of teeth in our house!!

Foxtel Sports aka Kayo
since the app was launched on Monday there is a new 20 odd pages on whirlpool. Most of it is positive but I have noticed most posters are talking about loading it onto various media boxes such as Nvidia Shield. Have not noticed too much commentary about a vanilla installation on a TV itself.

Foxtel Sports aka Kayo
Big development... the Kayo Android TV app is now out and available on Google Play Search for "kayo s" as just kayo does not show it. Let the games begin You need AOS version 7.1 on your TV so you may have to update your TV software
-
Foxtel Sports aka Kayo
You might be right but Kayo like Netflix is a different product to Foxtel. Foxtel required a physical boxto be delivered, long term contracts etc. It wasn't an impromptu purchase by any means. On the other hand Netflix and the modern streaming apps are just click a few times on your phone and you're away. Sorry DV8 I'm no expert on mobile sim plans but have a look at this section of Whirlpool. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/114 PS the closest I ever came to being a DJ was playing the Hot August Night album at full volume !!
