no one capable of handling the pressure of simple set shots, disappointing.
-
so who is injured, just jurrah and bell? Havent heard marics name in a while?
-
Bock, burton, van berlo, vince, knights porplyzia, maric all out. They are missing a few to be fair, but we have just as many critical players out.
-
yeah tell sean rusling that
-
ive had a gut full to be honest, its pretty much all over for me. Cant do it anymore.
-
jurrah dislocated shoulder or elbow, we are cursed no doubt. May as well give it away.
-
scully goal from 40 metres
-
5 on 1 on jurrah, hows the kid supposed to play without backup! Trengove doing well by the sound o fit
-
Mate of mine was listening to the Pies Crows match last weekend and said it was barely listenable for opposition fans. Lets just hope they at least call our goals etc im not expecting in depth analysis of our players.

stranga replied to The Emblem's topic in Melbourne Demons
Melbourne 1. Matthew Warnock, 2. Nathan Jones, 3. Clint Bartram, 5. Jordan Gysberts, 7. Brad Miller, 8. James Frawley, 9. Jack Trengove, 13. Jordie McKenzie, 14. Lynden Dunn, 15. Ricky Petterd, 16. Jack Grimes, 18. Brad Green, 19. Addam Maric, 21. Daniel Bell, 23. James McDonald, 24. Liam Jurrah, 25. Kyle Cheney, 27. Jared Rivers, 28. Joel MacDonald, 29. Michael Newton, 30. Tom McNamara, 31. Tom Scully, 33. Austin Wonaeamirri, 34. Stefan Martin, 40. Mark Jamar, 42. Jake Spencer, 44. Rohan Bail, 47. James Strauss, 48. Jack Fitzpatrick. Interesting to see how the midfield copes without the bustling work of sylvia and moloney. -
I think he means Mckenzie not mcnamara. Miller was absolutely not in the best. Ridiculous.

Pretty spot on assessments joeboy. I wouldnt have known Rivers was playing to be honest. Maric is just too small to have a major impact at a contest, but did some clever things by foot today and set up a couple of goals.

I just got home from the match. Was much better than Last week in terms of pressure/contests around the clearances. We actually won a few clearances in the second and third quarters when Jamar was rucking (grimes in particular).Problem is for every good possession there are still 3-4 bad ones which often result in easy goals on the counter attack. The other thing is we always seem to kick too high to a contest, making hard for the leading player to mark. Forward pressure is non existent. The bombers ran it "coast to coast" on numerous occasions. There were some nice passages of play through the middle in the second and third quarters. Some individual player observations and opinions: Grimes was dominant. Used the ball well and was composed and hard. Our next skipper for sure. Bennell had another shocker. I didnt count one effective kick from the boy. He moves well and finds space but panics on the kick. Sylvia was solid most of the day, particularly first half. One of the only players with a physical presence out there. Morton worked hard. Went off with a cork in the last. Limping pretty badly. Scully played on a wing and had a few touches but kicking was a bit sloppy. Again showed his ability to get to second and third contests a few times. Trengove was servicable i thought and his disposal was good. Didnt get too many touches but started in the centre at many bounces. Strauss used the ball extremely well. His kicking is as good as its being hyped up to be. Just doesnt influence the game enough at this stage. Miller was terrible for most of the game. Has no physical presence for a guy about 6'4. Shanked a shot from 30 metres. Prob only had about 5 possessions and a couple of easy marks. Petterd was our best forward by a mile, took some nice marks and kicked well today. I reckon he kicked about 4.1 Jurrah got well beaten by Flethcher, although the ball wasnt coming in often or to his advantage. He was often flying from the back of a pack. When he moved up the ground in the second half he was ok, gathered some nice loose balls and used it well. Mckenzie worked his butt off all day in and under. I like the kid. Cheney was hard at it, i rekcon he may slot in to the back pocket in round 1. Macdonald was not as good as last week, had a few clangers, but overall was solid and is essential to that back 6. Guys like Moloney and Jones were ok but didnt see them do anything outstanding. Jones decision making is still a conern, ie switching through the middle of the ground to a two on one. I had pretty much written off Bail after the first half but he worked his way into he game in the last quarter. Bell and newton didnt get much of a run but didnt do anything when they were on.

oh be careful, negative comments are taboo on this site....

dude i live for this club, it dictates my moods and emotions in life but in all honesty after 20 years of let downs and disappointments its hard for me to be overly positive. Remember the saying, a pessemist is an optimist with insight. I did say Maric's kick was a positive from sunday anyway. Im not the one who said he was rubbish. The fact is we dont do the things other teams take for granted out there at the moment. Torres says go Dees!
-
Yeh that was the sole highlight of the game. Funny how we all get excited when our players do things that are mandatory to other AFL teams.
-
im pretty sure im going but i dont have an I phone so cant do live updates. Im just hoping ot se emore attack on the ball. i reckon the game plan can flow on from some perceived pressure on the other team.
-
why did he slip to pick 21 then if his disposal is so immaculate? obviously has plenty of deficiencies. I hope he comes good, i thought he showed good endevour last week, suppose thats something.
-
I also agree, hasnt said anything fresh or enlightening in at least 12 months. Even Daniher seemed to have more intensity in his tone at times and he used to annoy me.
-
hehe well it would be nice if they were in attendance but im happy enough for Bails to do it given he is the one who has "taught" them over the last 2 years.
-
perhaps an official apology for the trash served up on the weekend after all the expectation?
-
I guess my disappointment stems from a pure football point of view. The lack of any resemblence of a game plan after 2 years and the lack of skill development (one of his major sales pitches). He and the FD may have a great strategic plan, but in the end its about implementing that plan successfully, not just the theory behind it. I just want to see the evidence that this plan is working (onfield, not just gaining the early draft picks).

Cameron Schwab was on SEN and confirmed the upcoming extension. Said they want to give Bailey "at least 2 years" to coach the team. Just cant understand the haste, quite disappointed in their decision (as usual).

i noticed his fingers were taped together on one hand. He definitely looked lethargic though and the cramping was strange. Being the only forward didnt suit him at all. I doubt he will ever be a workhorse type forward constantly leading up etc.
