  1. Just repeating what their fans say - not my view.
  2. Their problem is those guys are the only ones (except maybe Raynor) who gets a bit physical and ruffles feathers. We have Viney, Harmes, May and when playing Salem, Kozzie and maybe others. As we know a bit of aggro can lift teammates and influence a game. I think their fans are saying the team is a bit soft without them!!
  3. Start looking at the history books to see the odds of making the 8 after a 0-2 start...😀
  4. Yes, in a similar role to Salem. I reckon he is a better mid/fwd; a bit wasted in the back line as they could do with his aggression around the ball.
  5. Not a lot of optimism which isn't surprising after last week's game. Overall their focus was on underdone players, lack of speed, poor attitude and little aggression. Lamented the absence of their tough guys: Robinson (retired), Zorko (injured), Matheson (not selected). From Big Footy Dees bring this pressure it’ll be round rd 23 2022 in rd 2 2023. Team balance is wrong at the moment t. We had a speed problem, now we’ve overcompensated and have a grit problem. Friday night against another fast moving side will be enlightening, the Demons will be fired up after us beating them last meeting. We lack fierceness and need to do something to shock these gentlemen players into desperation effort levels. i just want the players to care and reverse that putrid attitude and effort from yesterday. Maybe I'm getting too pessimistic but if we plan on losing the ruck contest, which is going to happen anyway , how do we expect our guys to shark it with Oliver, Petracca , Brayshaw, Viney ,Harmes etc getting service. Demons mids hit the ball hard. Based on what Horne-Francis did to us, Petracca will be unstoppable. IF Zorko was playing yesterday he would not have changed the result, but I reckon he would have become more aggressive in that 3rd Q and the team might have responded. Another concern I have had the last few months is the lack of defensive players in the forward line. Whether we win or not against Melbourne is not as consequential as to whether we turn up with intent and keep it going for the 4 quarters whatever the state of the game. If we just fold and poonce around again I'll be genuinely worried. There is something fundamentally wrong with our team all down hill skiers. Of our last 5 games we have been belted 3 times that’s not a team that should be contesting for a flag. I watched the Dogs v Dee's last night, and even though the Dogs lost by 50, still looked light-years better than we did this weekend. The big worry for me is how hobbled Gawn and Petracca were and won't be this time... Payne and Andrews don’t get close enough to their opponents to tackle them. These are two defenders who seem to have a major deficiency in defensive skills. Yep the old “are we pretenders?” conundrum starts again for another year. Melbourne look deadly dangerous already and last couple of years have had the measure of our midfield. Bailey is not an inside mid and neither is Berry. If Berry played for the Dees or the cats he wouldn’t get a game. Fritchs is about to rip Rayner a new one… …Fritsch will run Rayner into the ground in the first quarter, if Rayner tries to run with him. Even in our best games there are quarters we sleep in, let alone whole games we just don't wake up. My favourite – for its reality and light hearted humour Right, you go whack Petracca in the tibia with mallet, and I'll ride a mini scooter in Max Gawns' back. That oughta help Melbourne replicate their team from that semi final win. Coleman was excellent against us in the final so his unavailabilty this week will help. Dees by 4 goals!
  6. That they are both bulky is what makes me think that is how Freo want them. But that build is of an old fashioned style ruckman. Today's ruckman are much leaner, faster and more agile. I can't think of many other ruckmen today, with that build/bulk. I was pretty confident Freo would be found out this year for the lack of cohesion/synergy from their list and position changes. Reckon I can add lumbering ruckmen to their vulnerabilities.
  7. Looks like it is undercover and behind the 'drip line':- Row Y Extract from
  8. Do you think he went pre 2021 as part mfc's fitness program? And the flipside: do you think he stopped going as part of Freo's program? I would guess most players' off-season program is endorsed by their club...
  9. Does it? Or does it say that on the day others played better. I will be shot down for this next comment. Clarry is amazing and consistent for a full game and as a result is a worthy BnF and Coaches champion. But it is rare that he is the 'game changer'. Our 'game changers' are Gawn and Petracca. When they go into 'beast mode' there is no stopping them. They will put in an amazing spell that turns the game and demoralises the opponent. Like in the GF, on Sat night there was a point where Petracca played as if 'we don't lose this game on my watch' and he went into 'beast mode'. He is a tactical weapon, breaks the game open and turns it in our favour with an amazing spell on the ball. Ditto Max.
  10. Darcy also looks heavy and bulky but not in a muscular sense. I wonder if that is how Freo prefer their ruckmen and have bulked up Jackson. Doubt that being bulky would help their speed or endurance. Especially in today's high speed game. They remind me of how Steven May arrived at the club, seemingly fit but bulky. It took a season to change his body shape and he learnt to run and chase. Became a different player.
  11. Could be wrong but didn't someone on DL post it was Stafford. If so that fits the 'foot of a giant' description😉. Edit: @WalkingCivilWarhas just clarified it wasn't Stafford... see a few posts below.
  12. Agreed DD, but will they do it consistently enough... ...after all it is a midfielders medal.
  13. Do you think he should get more or less?
  14. De Goey got 10 votes. Even without stella performances each week he could end up on top as there aren't other players of note to consistently take votes from him. Conversely Oliver, Petracca and Gawn take votes off each other. The same goes for the Brownlow. Would feel 🤢 if De Goey won the Brownlow.
  15. That looks like: 9 = 4 and 5 for both Pickett and Lever 5 = 2 and 3 for both Petracca and Gawn 2 = 1 and 1 for Oliver. So very similar assessment by both coaches.
  16. Some harsh comments from freo fans. The other forwards Treacy and Taberner did no better. Freo had 65 inside 50 for a mere 17 scoring shots. The ball seemed to ping pong between the 50m arcs. So not entirely Jackson's fault. But I guess with his money and the fanfare around him fans aren't going to look for reasonable explanations. However, Jackson played 85% game time. At the dees he usually played about 70% +/-; a 20% increase. My guess is he isn't fit enough/have the endurance to get through a game. And one wonders where his head is at. He tuned out last year when he knew he was leaving. Maybe the same is happening now that he has his long term mega million contract.
  17. I noticed Chandler do this a lot. Also when he marked he didn't seem to look for options instead going back to take his kick. It didn't hurt us on Saturday night but it might in other games and it can slow or kill our momentum not to mention give the opps time to get their defenders back or set up.
  18. Don't all footy fans turn into little children when at or talking footy? See 'Game Day' threads for ample evidence🙃
  19. That may be so but the way the MRO has classified the two incidents doesn't make sense. Simples!
  20. To be fair, this was in retaliation to the bulldogs fans booing Hunter. Not right for us to do it to Baker but war is war! Our cheer for Hunter was louder than their booing and they quickly shut up. But I loved the way our fans made the love for Hunter obvious to all.
  21. The Buddy and Kozzi decions are unreal. Both Carless, Both HIgh contact. Buddy medium Impact and Kozzie HIgh impact yet it was Buddy's player that went off concussed while Kpzzi's opponent bounced up and played out the game. How on earth could Kozzie's bump be high impact while Buddy's be medium impact? Arrrgghhh! No sense in that!!!!! Kozzie take the two weeks and learn from it.
  22. Lever must play in a lot of pain. Last right he held both boots in his hand while hand-clapping fans. If his feet are an issue after 6 months of no match play then no amount of resting from games is going to help him😟.
  23. Quoting the Cripps case is etiher posters being disingenuous or they don't understand what happened. The MRO referred it directly to the Tribunal which gave him a two week ban. High end lawyers went to court and argued some abnormality in the Tribunal process. Cripps got off on a legal technicality. The AFL has closed that loophole. It is not relevant to Pickett's case. Buddy cleaning up a player yesterday is relevant. They will argue it was in play but he veers away from the ball to lay the bump.
  24. I was in the Redlegs area and most people clapped. But from where I sat it sounded polite and lukewarm rather than loud cheers/roar as they went passed each section.
  25. Good to see our AFLW team do a Premiership lap of honour. But disappointed that the applause wasn't what was deserved.
