  1. Agreed on the future and strategic planning. I said similar in my post earlier in this thread albeit it was planning around funding, use and sponsorship of our new facilities. I guess by the last sentence you mean Casey and surrounds. Yes, I would also like to see us develop that market as well. We have a red and blue presence through the VFL/W and AFLW and it is our training ground for at least this year. If we don't make the most of that presence other clubs will move in. Its a short hop for the Hawks in Dingley, Saints in Bayside etc. I'll give the club the benefit of the doubt and say that covid restrictions have made this difficult for the last few years but yeah I would like to see a plan on how we develop this area and make it a heartland. The club did a fantastic job of harnessing support in Perth with giveaways, a demon van and lots of other stuff so we have the know how. Would love to see them make a long term commitment to a campaign there. Sadly, I fear they won't and that it may go the way of the Bentleigh Club. Up until 8 years ago it was a welcoming place to watch the footy with other dedicated dees fans. After a while it became an insufferable experience.
  2. Cerra or Walsh? Laughable. That poster should look at this: or this http://resources1.news.com.au/images/2015/08/01/1227466/193257-0fed81ee-3823-11e5-9c70-bb8d701e73e2.jpg or this http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/8-05-2015/KQptw2.gif or this http://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/657e21f9766e3a695b485170cb911cb3?width=650 or this http://i.imgur.com/kUIOtfd.gif Dammit, that poster can read the whole 'Jack made them cry' thread. Jack takes on some of the biggest and toughest players in the game. Cerra and Walsh have talent but have yet to show an ounce of aggro. Jack will eat them for breakfast!! Edit: Sorry about the gif links. Pics copied from the Jack thread but for some reason they appear as links instead. Oh well, you all know how the story goes
  3. What you know is yours to keep. No problem. I think we all want our club to capitalise on opportunities. Genuine question: what things would you like done?
  4. Football staff don't usually attend the AGM do they? Did any of them participate in the AGM last night?
  5. Thanks. Not being a zoom user I wasn't aware it was of its capabilities. Nonetheless, given that the recent fan Forum was neither zoom nor live with members it does leave one wondering about level of member involvement or access to the senior parts of our club.
  6. With no covid restrictions any reason this was zoom only with no live audience? The BnF had an audience so can't see why members couldn't go to the AGM.
  7. Thanks, I hadn't seen that. Its a shame for Rivers 3-4 weeks but it gives the likes of Hunt a chance to get his spot back. Looks like we will have 3 tall fwds plus Jackson/Gawn resting forward. We experimented with that a few years ago and iirc it didn't go well so it will be interesting to see how it goes this time. I guess that is what practice matches are for.
  8. So Salem's injury may be more than has been reported. Best to get him (and others) cherry ripe for March 16.
  9. I'm in the it is 'too early to judge' camp. Some ways we will capitalise on our premiership: Membership is growing. We should expect our gate takings to go through the roof, even without the ANZAC Eve and QB game this year, as more dee fans come to games. And opp fans will come if they expect to see a good game, which they will. We have been rewarded with Home games vs the Big clubs at the G this year: Ess (when was the last time that happened...), Collingwood, Carlton and Hawthorn. Merchandising will continue to sell well. If we play PF and GF for the next 5 years watch all those numbers grow. We will have capitalised on our success. It is more the medium term that I wonder about. Even tho we don't have any info of what, when and where of our new facilities, I would like to know the club has a plan for: funding, community use of the facilities, support of important social issues. Someone mentioned 'Reach'. Great idea. True connection to our past not something adopted for the sake of looking to have a social conscience. If the club needs member funding start the fundraising now! No better time to cash in on our success. And, I hope they have started looking for naming rights sponsors etc etc. Such a plan need not be a secret nor wait for a government announcement, which seems to be the reason we don't know where the facility will be. Maybe after the season is on the way, the premiership glow subsides we will hear what the plan is for funding and use of the facilities.
  10. I'm pretty sure in a DL podcast a few years ago either Jackson or Roos said they do. Presumably that practice would have continued during Pert's reign.
  11. I was referring to her Friday night role on Ch 7. Do you mean the coaching gig is one day a week?
  12. She plans to continue her media work. It is one night a week. Ch7 and the club she goes to will make it work.
  13. WOW. When fwd he is playing like an opportunistic small forward; doesn't compete for marks and stays down front and square: 22 of those 29 goals were from snaps within about 25 mt of goal. The speed at which he gets the ball onto his boot and finds space/angles through a pack, for the ball to go through is phenomenal. Incredible goal sense. I can see the last few years of his contract when his midfield days are done we can just park him in the goal square and let him do his thing.
  14. At the risk of causing more confusion something from club website, for members GA wanting to reserve a seat: Round 1 Ticketing If you wish to upgrade to a reserved seat on level 1 for the match, you can do so from 2pm Tuesday 1 March. Simply enter your barcode below into the box provided via Ticketek and upgrade to a reserved seat for Round 1. Click here to book your spot at the game. The website doesn't show a barcode, so not sure whether it is the membership barcode (which is what was used for booking finals tickets) or the barcode that will be released in the app before the game. For the heck of it, I followed the link shown (to the Ticketek website) to 'book a spot' but the ticketing area was blank even tho they should have been available from yesterday afternoon. Thankfully the game is still two weeks away so plenty of time to get things sorted. It appears that the club is issuing proforma info that isn't always up to date. And, it looks like all the ticketing and barcode problems are with Ticketek/technology so not appropriate to be cross with the club. However, it would help if they didn't release info that was not correct or as @JTRsuggested change the club's auto recording when on hold, to include the latest info. Then staff can focus on membership sales.
  15. Here is an incredible article about Daisy. Too many great comments to quote. Just one to whet the appetite. "But as an analyst Pearce now offers a particular insight in a commentary role once reserved solely for male champions. “It is because she is smart. It is because she is worldly. It is because she has sat in footy change rooms and been a leader and been a mother and a professional,” McLachlan says. “When she sits there with Wayne Carey and Luke Hodge, they all respect her because she is smart and good fun and knows what she is doing. She is a peer. No other woman in the world has done it… as credibly. And she is now totally accepted by footy fans – there is not even a murmur.” aflw-star-daisy-pearce-makes-her-mark-on-and-off-the-field Hope you can get behind the paywall.
  16. Daisy's loyalty to the red and blue will never be in doubt. This is the lady that told Gil that she plays for the Dees or won't play AFLW!! She isn't lost to us yet. The article says we want keep her when she hangs up the boots: Cats CEO Steve Hocking told 3AW that many clubs would be interested in securing the services of Pearce when she ends her playing career with the Demons. “Daisy is committed to Melbourne Football Club. They are clearly going to have a big say in the finals. They would love to win a premiership and our understanding at this point in time, and through talking to her manager, they’re [Melbourne are} committed to Daisy continuing there and she has not made a decision as to what her future looks like,” Hocking said. I recall a few years back she joined training with Goodwin and he was very welcoming. Lots of reasons to join the Dee's men's coaching team. Go Daisy!
  17. So much stuff is buried deep in website pages. I hope to God this is all really clear to fans before the 16th. It is two years since most people went to a live game. I suspect most people wouldn't be delving into club apps, emails and websites like we and others are doing to find the details of ticketing and access. I wouldn't be surprised if lots of people aren't really aware they can't used the 'souvenir' membership cards to get in and now eed to download the app. I'm generally pretty good with technology but getting across all this shouldn't be so difficult.
  18. I just noticed his on club's website. "Please note, for general admission members please ignore the sec, row and seat that appears with your barcode. Your general admission membership gives you access to any general admission areas which are communicated at the ground on game day". mobile-ticketing I guess that means GA members can sit in any seats that aren't allocated. @WalkingCivilWarThe above might be of interest for seating choices. @JV7I hope this clarifies my earlier posts a bit further.
  19. Further to my post above, I'm not sure what happens for GA members at popular games where there have been a lot of pre-bookings (seat allocations) and GA seating choice may be limited. For those games pre-booking may be necessary but am not familiar with that process. Others may have more info.
  20. Welcome to the confused members group 🙂! As I understand it once you are in the ground you can sit where you like in the GA area. If you are a member there is no need to pre-book tickets but you will need to scan the digital ticket/barcode (in the mfc app) for each of the family to get in. I hope I'm right with that last para as I passed the same message to others today...
  21. I also came unstuck at step 6. After step 5, I could see the same screen as the middle image in your post. No bar code and the options at the bottom of that screen were not active. I rang the club this morning and after 45 minutes on hold learnt that the barcodes hadn't been released yet, even tho the email said it would be 72 hours before the game ie last night. They said the barcodes would be released in the next day or two. It would have been helpful to not say 72 hours or send an email today to update the time line. I suspect there were a lot of members on hold for 45 minutes (or more) and clogging up the phones with the same question. I'm not sure this is the club's doing as I believe they are following an AFL system. Will post on here when I see advice that barcodes have been released. Hope this helps.
  22. As I understand it you won't have to do the QR scan; just continue to show your digital wallet. Not everyone has a digital wallet so some people will still need to QR scan to show vax status. I think the government press info used the term 'QR scan' as a generic phrase to say people need to show their vax status/certificate (which can take several forms). Also, the government prefers we still QR scan even tho data isn't used but most people have stopped doing so unless they have to.
  23. A digital vax certificate/a green tick appears on your phone once you have QR scanned in. The person simply looks at your phone. As @binmanposted it is requirement at bars and restaurants and numerous othe venues. I would assume the 'venue person at the G' will be the person on the turnstile or security checking your bag. Someone might tell us what happened re vax status checking in December when the club held its GF re-enactment at the G. Just noticed @Fork 'em's post. I guess is the event he is referring to, or maybe it was the cricket?
  24. The QR scan shows the vax status on your phone which is what the person on the door looks at to let you in (or not). Those without the vax status linked to the QR system can show paper proof of vax to enter. For these people there is really no need to scan the QR code. Yes, AFL venues will ask everyone to show digital (QR scan) or paper proof of vaccination.
  25. Not sure if you are thinking the info goes to the website of the establishment being entered. Just to clarify, it is forwarded to the government's website that they once used for contact tracing, not the website of the establishment being entered. Huge privacy issues if that was the case.
