  1. I was suggesting we go in with one ruckman. The only ruck Hawks have is Lynch who is a rookie. McElvoy and Ceglar both out injured. And while TMc does some ruck work he isn't a CB tap or clearance type ruckman so not sure he could play the Jackson role.
  2. If Jackson is out would we bring in another ruckman? Hawks aren't that tall and Max should take care of their rookie uckman on his own with only a little help from friends. Maybe we bring in Melksham for Jackson and Bedford for Kozzie (if Kozzie is in iso).
  3. Thanks, I was aware of that. He seemed very proud of it! I'm hoping someone has old footy cards with autographs on them.
  4. Thanks. So he could be in iso today. Not sure if it has been mentioned, Christian, Spargo and Kozzie share abode and none are in today's Casey photos.😬
  5. But training was at Casey; why would Christian be at AAMi, assuming that video was taken today.
  6. This is part of a dees jumper with 11 of the 1964 team autographs. I would like some help deciphering those between Graeme Jacobs 20, and Hassa 29. I think the first below Jacobs is Tassie Johnson, then John Lord but am at a complete loss as to the next. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: autographs were obtained at the 2014, 50th anniversary player reunion.
  7. In Victoria 'close contacts' no longer need to isolate so players are safe unless they get it.
  8. Doubt it. We already have Williams there who can fill in for Goodwin and let Yze what he does best in the box.
  9. I doubt it. He is the eyes and tactician in the box. In an interview recently he described the coaching role on the bench as giving player feedback and keeping their spirits up. We have Williams on the bench who they players are very used to having there so it should be fairly seamless.
  10. Agreed. Too often Max ends up with knees in his chest but gets pinned for 'blocking' if he puts his arm out to protect himself and keep the ruckman at bay. Draper deliberately targeted Grundy's knees. There was a ball up after Grundy's right knee was injured where Draper stayed down, took his eyes off the ball and waited for Grundy to go up and then jumped just high enough to reach Grundy's (good) knee. Should have been cited for rough conduct. My immediate thought: thank God we have already played Ess and aren't up against Draper again this year.
  11. Petracca is rapidly becoming our 'game changer'. When we need to get momentum back or go up a gear he steps up. He did it in the GF, he did it vs Ess and he did it on Sunday night. People just don't value that he is an impact player/game changer. He doesn't have to be excellent all game, every week.
  12. In his press conf Goodwin spoke about Weideman. One comment was that he took his opportunities. He said a significant point was when we were 4.16 and the pressure was on the next player having a shot. Weideman was that player. He absorbed the pressure and slotted it. Nailing a goal under pressure like that is another big step in his development. Regardless of what folks think his faults are I doubt he is being dropped any time soon.
  13. Listen to Goodwin's post game press conf. When the team needed to change up Petracca stepped up. I would suggest the 2 votes came from Goodwin.
  14. Parish set a record with the number of possessions. Will probably get high votes from both coaches (10 will go to the Akermanis clone). But gee Parish is a frustrating player; runs hard to get a possession but lopes around when it is time to chase. At the end of the first qtr yesterday he had 15 possessions with distance gained: 90 mtrs!!! Its circuit handball work for him. Talk about chasing Brownlow votes.

Rapt that Steven May is ranking so highly. Well deserved If one of our players isn't in the lead, I like that Andy Brayshaw is the clubhouse leader at this stage. He is a very good and fair player. Quite a spread in the top echelons of the leaderboard and only the Dees with two players in the top 10 drawing votes from each other unlike Brayshaw, Cripps, Higgins, Smith et al. Note: Votes for yesterday's games announced today so may affect the leaderboard. ADMIN EDIT: Included the votes from Yesterdays games into the leaderboard.
  16. Bigfooty Their Round 7 Thread title says it all: Hawks v Dees at the G after a 5 day break......ouch. Other doom and gloom: Expecting a bloodbath. Time for my annual public service announcement for all Supercoachers to make big Maxy your Captain next week as we continue our time honoured tradition of kicking it to him at every conceivable opportunity Hope we don't go with the "kick it to Max Gawn" game plan even though its great for supercoach. Pretty much every other team seems to have adopted that tactic too . Would like for Finn to get a run with role with one of the Dees stars. Going to get spanked so give him an opportunity to play in his best position. Can actually see dees resting a few. Will beat us in a canter. don't shoot me for suggestion, but we may need to bring back older bodies (Shiels, Howe) to prtect younger players who are both gassed and will get murdered by Dees Doesn’t matter which way you cut it, we’re not getting close to the Dees. Manage anyone that needs it and make sure we’re cheery ripe for the bombers the following week. If we can put the final nail in their coffin, the season is a success. They get Lever and Viney back too. FMD. Gawn, Oliver and Petracca vs our midfield is going to be ugly. If Dees up their behinds from 22 to 35+ we could b in with a chance That (2021 draw)...was a real surprising result, bad sadly I can't see lightning striking twice. Melbourne just have this aura about them ATM, won something like 13 games in a row and have a flag behind them. Some optimisim, sort of: Good learning experience coming up. Petracca also looked pretty sore last night , May was feeling his hammy late, Jackson got a head knock so better to be safe than sorry . Think thats another 3 changes for them ...they are going to drop one. Who knows, it could be us. Why not. We could also lose by 12 goals and that's fine ... Well what did we do late last year to draw with this super power? 10 goal win My favourite: Dear Melbourne, please rest Max Gawn & Clayton Oliver. They’re both in desperate need of a break. Sincerely Hawthorn F.C Footnote: Their fan forum 'The Mighty Hawk' requires registration and login to read site. Couldn't be bothered. Enough reality and laughs from Bigfooty above.
  17. Very sad. Had several hits to the head. The doctor dragged him off, after the knee to the head. He failed the concussion test.
  18. Their was a few second footage shown of Paddy Mc talking with a medico in the rooms and he had his hands out in a pleading gesture. The medico seemed to just walk away while he was in mid sentence. I suspect there was a more to the discussion and it isn't possible to know what required her attention but I felt it was a time he needed a bit of TLC.
  19. Difficult to see at the ground with a pack around him and not having tv commentary to hear the umpire. On the whole I don't think we played 'our way' in the fwd half for much of the night hence all the points.
  20. Thanks, I'll correct the post. Still think it is poor by the Swans to not get into the spirit of the occasion.
  21. The Swans have 'outdone' them. Nothing! Not even the Anzac badge on their jumpers and they are the hosts. Very poor by the Swans, I reckon.
  22. Love how there is one banner for both teams at ANZAC Eve.
  23. Wouldn't want you to miss the game.
  24. Not sure. I didn't notice the umpire but you could be right.
  25. A 70,000 crowd. Was in the Ponsford stand and from MCC Reserve all the way round to the AFL Reserve it looked like 60% Rich 40% Dee fans. Obviously couldn't see into the Ponsford stand. 70,000 would be close to the highest crowd this year. People are getting used to digital ticketing and more confident re covid and public transport. It was a phenomenal effort for so many Dees fans to turn up for an away game.
