  1. That is the kind of wild optimism i am used to hearing from fellow Dee supporters
  2. The pity is the most disgusting thing. I hate the pity
  3. 1. Move to Tassie 2. Get "Development Club" status 3. Draft priority 4. Tassie Demons Mini Draft 5. A few million from the AFL 6. Premiership Coach Then we might make the finals in 2019
  4. not a chance in the world. he has made that pretty clear.
  5. Those players deserved every bit of it... the boos, the abuse, the Essendon rabble. People paid good money to watch that game and they were ripped off.
  6. Kennett wants Clakson out. Ex-Demon.... can we get him ??
  7. yes, 76 was good, but i do remember some awful times in 73 and 74. i think we went almost 12 months without a win
  8. the early 70s was much worse than now
  9. Well, from the sounds coming out of the club, it seems Mitch is close to a full recovery. Now, I don't want to jinx it, but I am getting pretty damn excited to see him dominate the forward 50 with Dawesy.
  10. if you put Jordie on the outside he would kick better. we need him in the thick of it...
  11. Well, one thing is for sure... the club has access to the finest legal advice available. Every comment and response that comes out of any officials mouth will be carefully vetted and crafted by top lawyers. They know a hell of a lot better than the average DLand poster on what the best course of action is.
  12. Clearly toughness is a requisite. MacDonald and Magner totally deficient skill wise, but toughness keeps them from the axe
  13. For those who moan about the mature age recruits only being around for 2 years, keep in mind that at that point in time, Watts, Trenners and Grimey will all be 100+ gamers. Jonesy, Chip and Mitch will be 150+. Add to that Dawes and you've got a pretty solid leadership group to take us from there. Not to mention of course a crop of quality juniors such as Viney, Hogan, Wines/Toumpas, we are looking like a team. Sure Byrnes, Rodin etc wont be around, but by then, they will no longer be required.
  14. Gys and Cale were contracted for 2013. The real value in the trade is not simply what we received for them, but what we save by not having to pay them next year, as well as the space Mortons departure opens up on our list.
  15. The DB mantra was "get rid off the old guard, get games into the kids". This strategy clearly failed, leading to a dysfunctional culture devoid of leadership and structure that culminated in 186. Neeld walks in and declares his aim is to make us "the toughest team to play against" In his first year, he is left with the legacy of the DB years. He restructures the coaching and management side of things, but is left with the same cattle. He makes it clear that what is needed is: 1. Fitness 2. Toughness 3. Defense The year ends with few wins, however, it is now clear to him who can fit in within his framework and who cant. He looks at who is available on the market, and quite successfully attracts a good number of experienced players to the fold whose main purpose is to enforce the culture HE is creating. Its clear to me now that Neelds strategy is broad and well thought out. He is cleaning out the softness and replacing it with toughness. He is instilling us with courage and determination.
  16. i dont think we've seen the last of LJ in the AFL just yet
  17. if the guy doesnt want to come, we are not going to get him, and from what im hearing from inside the club, he is not leaning towards us at this stage
