  1. I listened to 64 on the radio and started going on my own by 67/68. We still had legendary players running around, Tassie kicking out to the Centre from fullback and up to a dozen stars of 64 and other flags from our great run. The parallels are a bit spooky although now we have the draft rather than some tired old men scouting our country and city zone.
  2. Absolutely
  3. Jefferson,
  4. Pretty much on same page. Future looks brighter if you start with our quality players finding form rather than those that likely won’t make it. And then you find a few bob up improve and you get close to a strong line up.
  5. I again agree Kolt Windsor Langford Lindsay. Potential top liners Ferguson Turner Van Rooyen Potential Key Position players. Established Max, few years left. Viney a few more years left, Trac still very good or trade value. Oliver, still very good or trade Value. Kossie a Star. May, few more years left. Lever 3-4 years left Nearly there. McVee , Rivers.Petty That’s 17 good players if all fit. Might have missed a few
  6. I’m in total agreement but it seems an approach without exception. Sometimes us poor spectators are screaming to kick it to a better place. Do you think our guys are scared to break team rules. By coincidence this week I was watching footage of Carlton’s brilliant 81-82 side. Beautiful delivery of the ball. Mark Maclure running hard and doing the bollocking at CHF. Medium tall Peter McConville playing tall and Busustow playing chaos and brilliant footy. Would we try and contain a player like that. I saw Carlton train the Thursday before 82 GF. The session went about one hour and the ball didn’t hit the ground once from a kick or handball. Fantastic footy skills.
  7. Solid stuff but you are yet to experience Bailey Smith Cats Swagger
  8. Good points so I’ll elaborate a bit. If Van Rooyen is getting specialist coaching it must be within the bounds of the forward offence we currently run. As you say, we are not seeing spread, leading or creating room for him. If he’s playing deep forward/ full forward and you can’t lead or don’t get good supply from your teammates it’s close to the worst position in the game snd a real confidence killer.
  9. As a long time supporter I can cope with a rebuild but to make it work we either need a fit and firing Oliver, Trac and Kossie or 4-5 top picks in their place
  10. Yes. And it’s a shame players can’t use initiative in improving and get on the phone to someone like David Neitz for a footy chat.
  11. I hear he played juniors as a backman. CHB worth a try.
  12. In the last play of the first game Max did the most exquisite tap to the running Langdon. He moved to position beautifully like an old time rover. However he slightly fumbled the ball. Playing midfield to Max gives or has given our stars an armchair ride. Now Max is not dominating but our mids are still playing totally offensively seemingly unaware the chances of max winning the centre bounce has gone from high probability to even money.
  13. Agree on chaos ball. Not as a plan but an alternative to putting it on the head of a pack of players.
  14. Absolutely
  15. Gotta give Laurie a four block game program.
  16. Geelong take no prisoners when an opponent is down. Goodwin unlikely to get it right. If we attack to win we will get slaughtered on presentation form. If we play defensively we might make it competitive
  17. I didn’t see yesterday but we are long overdue to make a statement by dropping a senior player.
  18. Campbell - 1st player selected. You are gonna play 80 per cent game time. Max- You have earned an easier run, 20 per cent on ball, time on forward line

Yes, I’m not a sack Goodwin bandwagon man but now think fresh eyes and ideas will help
  20. Yes. Sometimes I think he’s not best 18, which is so hard on a club champion. Then he plays out of the box and we and commentators have him as a star. My memory of his Dad was the same, invaluable but his kicking let him down. That said, I think he has a few years left as a valuable player. If he went in certain his role at a top club would be much more nuanced.
  21. It would have been Brayshaw. Max for a few more years with less responsibility. Lever is a leader

Thx for considered response. My big take away from yesterday was Max saying they figured our game plan very early meaning they knew what it was before the game and that’s how it played out. Therefore they know exactly how Max ,Oliver Petracca and Viney will attack and keep the attacking game no matter whether we are up or down. So I see hope for a new coach, a strong one to dictate to Viney a new role and maybe position as defensive forward. Similarly create subtely different roles for Oliver and Trac and give proper support to Max.
  23. Agree I had us around 12-14 with an outside chance of 8 being positive. Lack of passion is just terrible in two counts , the obvious being you need passion to win and secondarily these boys are paid more than the prime minister . You are paid to play to the best of your ability
  24. May. First game back Petracca Tragic injury effect Van Rooyen Not enjoying forward line Langdon Back to wing Viney Needs tough coach Max. He is human Melk. First game back Oliver Good and bad
  25. What were the Kangas offering for Viney. Was it even discussed. I disagree on Oliver and Petracca. I would look at offers for both as neither wants to be with us. I would prefer to follow the journey of young players we pick up in exchange for either of them.
