Time to go Goody?
Yes, there were some no brainer delistings. Take Verall, not too bad athletically but massively undersized for a AFL ruckman. To Billing’s, I always find it interesting when a trade is being talked about and supporters in this case from the Saints day, no loss as he can’t hit a target.

I thought North sounded better- with more upside for supporters before our game with them when they called out the players names pre game. And so it proved. Our response and this is Goodwins issue is when we have a goal kicked against us it’s, mid field, leaders have a chat with Max, put head down and just boot it out of the centre if they get it. So easy and predictable to defend against. And because they go head down all out attack they are in no position to defend from the centre if Max is dominant. Viney, Oliver have been brilliant for us but have had an armchair ride from Max all their careers.

The dream is over. Simon helped take us where I thought I would never seen in my lifetime. So thanks, he has a lot of good character traits but flexibility of mind is not one of them and there seems to be a power vacuum at the Club so he is lost. As to the future we need to find a way to get say four top 20 draft picks. Now who can we trade to do that?

New coach prospects
Kossie is a liability due to his temperament. Petracca will never be the same due to mental damage from the disgusting injury he suffered. I don’t blame him. Oliver, wont stay if those two go and we are in rebuild. Maybe all three go at seasons end.

New coach prospects
sorry Flowergirl but anyone who has played footy at any level knows when players give up in a game. As a player you know it yourself. Less than 20 per cent of the players were trying to capacity in the last quarter.

I have never understood why AFL clubs don’t bring former stars in for a session throughout the season. We have four stars in Schwarz , Neita, Robbo and Lyon who could all teach a trick or two about the craft, quite separate to game plan. Things like separation, leading, when to leap and a lot more.

Sure try things but langdon runs and runs on the wing. Spargo had no run so couldn’t get it as not match fit windsor is a wing man in mould of Flower , position set. Pickett yes, occasion bursts fritta close to goals is where he plays best and where he will succeed again when he requests a trade

Troy Chaplin
Hes the forward coach because he’s done a stellar job as a defensive coach?

Finally we come to Chaplin. If I was Fritta I’d be saying if that’s the way you want me to play I’ll look for a new club. And yes why Goodwin puts up with coping all the blame for a loss when this bloke mucks the forward line up.

van Rooyen and Turner to the backline?
Spare back? Isn’t it 666 at centre bounces?

Im getting old and no expert in the modern game. However I believe this. When a team has a run on and our stars, Gawn Viney Oliver and Petracca or others gather in the middle I can nearly hear them saying. Win this contest charge forward and get a goal back. Would it be an idea to have one or two other plays, win the clearance, kick wide to a flank with a player running to that spot, or two players each running to a flank. Upset the predictable rhythm. It’s like a poorly drilled underage basketball team with a dominant centre who then just rush the ball down the middle.

Time to go Goody?
I have to disagree on a few points. Might have been 3 goals at 3/4 time but we were not in it as I saw it. He was coaching against a master coach and a hungry team. for mine Goody is done, not just on what he brings after so many seasons but what a hungry young coach might bring, to the game plan and the players. So thanks Goody, broke the drought, Club legend, but time to go.

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
Im going to go positive When fit play Windsor, Lindsay Langford, Thorstrup, Chandler. JVR, Turner. Likely two of Oliver Petracca and Kossie will go at seasons end. That should give us good draft picks. That’s 10 promising young ones. I might have missed a few. Some selective recruiting to fill leadership hole they leave. Find out how long Max wants to play for and set a plan for him going forward, with proper support.

Who are our opposition scouts. How did they not see that Xerra is a match for Gawn in strength and nearly in height. It was a no brainer to play Campbell. Agree with player analysis except Petty. can anyone understand how we set up in the forward line at centre bounces. I don’t think I have ever seen a game where I have thought a young version of myself could have beaten an AFL standard forward. Why? Because our key forwards were flat footed, didn’t lead so all an athletic tall person had to do was take a few steps, jump from behind and punch the ball, that is if the ball wasn’t kicked directly to them instead of our forward anyway

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
Interesting perspective Yesterday Max need some relief. By that I mean his usual time on the bench plus another 10 minutes on ground resting forward. I would have played Campbell but it could be Fullerton this week. Nothing to lose if Fullerton replaced Fritta or JVR for a week or two.
