It’s the nature of the teams we’ve played against. The Crows and Tigers played with a lot of run from stoppages. Adelaide have a great forward half so they want that high scoring style. Richmond got lucky with their scoring efficiency in the first half, but they also burnt us with run and opened us up early. With Brayshaw, Jordan and Viney on ball they tried to use speed to spread with Bolton and Martin, and it worked really well. Clayton makes us more dynamic in their. Goodwin feels as you do though. He said in the presser that scores like that ‘aren’t the plan.’

Statistically the umpiring was very unusual. It was 8 free kicks to 2 Richmond’s way in the third quarter, and then we got 9 frees in a row over the next quarter. I thought it was over umpired in the last quarter. In the first half it seemed the umps stayed out of it.

The current ladder is a great example of how uneven the fixture is, and how it makes teams look much better than they are. The Saints are 5th and I reckon every team down to 15th would pick them to play if they had to pick a side above.
