I love listening to Bucks talking so confidently about how well Collingwood are setting up and their structure. He’d be a great coach for them.

Only 4 teams got to play each other off a bye this year, todays Crows and Collingwood, and Saints and Swans a few weeks back. The numbers are terrible for teams of the bye. No team has won playing a team who didn’t have the bye the week before. The loses include: Lions to Hawks Dockers to Tigers Geelong to Port Suns to Carlton Essendon to Dockers Eagles to Swans Horror show Us in Geelong The only team not to play yet is the hawks who play the Suns today. If they lose literally every team off the bye has lost playing against a team that played. It’s obviously not a coincidence.

Dynamic Ruck Duo Max & Brodie
Wasn’t much criticism of them after the Collingwood game. Strange that isn’t it? A loss seems to require a reason, while a win is just the expectation. In a strange way it’s the proof that this is the best time to be a Melbourne supporter in 50 years.

The Rich 100
Realistically we are paying Grundy about 600k - which puts him at about 80. It’s Collingwood who are making him a top 10 player.

Collingwood at Kardinia Park
I would buy this argument in 2011-2021, but not anymore. The AFL missed out on 30,000 extra attendees if they played this game at the G on a Friday or Saturday. 19,000 people at a Victorian game featuring the last 2 premiers, both Victorian sides, is a stinker from a financial and brand perspective. The AFL just completely stuffed this fixture up.

Collingwood at Kardinia Park
Write to the club and tell them. While you are at it tell them not to sell home games interstate. If you are respectful and constructive they’ll listen and respond.

This game should be called the ‘How did we lose to this mob?’ cup.

The Fixture
It’s terrible that we sell a game to the NT. It’s a super tight season, and we expect the players to do all the little things for optimal performance. The club needs to the same thing and protect both the playing group and the supporters.

Are we banged up again?
Negative nazis is a bit of a tautology. Nazis weren’t exactly brimming with rainbows. Didn’t look banged up 2 weeks ago when we beat the top team. Did we get banged up over the bye? Rest fatigue? Couch related soreness?

I know it seems knee jerk, but I’ve actually been observing it over a 3-4 month period and my analysis really stacks up.

I thought we were wasteful and lacked connection. How anyone could watch the 2nd and 3rd quarter of that game and say it was ‘lacklustre’ and ‘inept’ is watching such a different game to me. We battled our hearts out, we just didn’t finish our work off when we had total control.

Lots of criticism of the players for not doing the little things right, not much criticism of the club for making our season harder and playing a home game in Alice this week. This season will be defined by the little things. Why travel when we don’t have to, especially when we haven’t traveled well all year? Brisbane, Essendon, Port, Geelong away losses. Why are we risking this again?

Dazzle, who legitimately is playing better at Casey though? I’ve watched all their games this year and aside from Howes, Disco and Woewodin I don’t reckon there’s much there. Howes and Turner aren’t better players than our current backline. We seem to be light on for outside skill.

Dees struggle with wet weather
Wet weather ain’t the issue. Forward centre conversion and reward for effort is. We dominated the 2nd and 3rd quarter but had to work impossibly hard to score. If that sounds familiar it’s because it was an issue in 2017, 18, 19, 20, half of 21, 22 and now 23. We are tired, because we don’t get anywhere near enough reward for effort.
