  1. The thing is though jammin, that sort of arrangement would only disadvantage Adelaide. Tippett can and has chosen where he wants to play, and as it turns out he chose the worst possible scenario for the Crows.
  2. So Pedersen is worth pick 33 but Martin isn't? Ok.
  3. What's the point if it's pick 61 in return? If we are going to do it, I'd rather a pick upgrade, though if the incoming pick was used on Pedersen then they can jam the whole thing.
  4. What a pathetic non-issue. I will however accept the 1998 premiership cup, farcically stolen via Dr McIntyre, as recompense.
  5. If the rumoured deal was accurate, would the Saints take 49 and 63/70 for Ray? I doubt we'll be using the later picks.
  6. Surely we're not stupid enough to spend the final week of the trading period throwing away assets for this guy when our midfield is so poor and we've already got a pick that is more than enough to pay. If they don't want 49 then move on. Just insane.
  7. Losing the Wizard was upsetting. Seeing him in the clown guernsey was very difficult, it was footballing adultery. There have been players I was very disappointed to see leave, but Farmer going really stung. I hated seeing Woewodin in black and white as well. I never booed either of them though.
  8. That's probably the big genuine gripe supporters of clubs like Adelaide, Melbourne and Hawthorn can have. The goalposts seem to have been shifted, and clubs that may have been happy to lose players in FA for compo would have been more proactive about trading them had they known they would get little or no compo for players. I'm comfortable with what's been handed out tonight, except that I think Port made off like bandits. I think the way clubs approached free agency compo was against the spirit of the compensation and has endangered its existence in the future. It's not being handed out so that teams can dangle their unwanted flotsam out there for someone to take and then receive a reward. It's there for teams like St. Kilda who lose one of their best players to an offer they couldn't reasonably match. I'd be absolutely filthy if this farcical FA period led to the abolition of compo picks and someone like Frawley (I just use him as an example as he's one of our best players) bailed for nothing in a couple of years. The system has some tweaking to do, but compensation definitely has merit. Hopefully the clubs and the league have learned something and it works better next year.
  9. We got 49 as a third rounder. I thought we'd get 48 as an end of second rounder. For us as a team that finished 16th, there wasn't much difference between bands 4 and 5. Bring on the final week of the trade period and our delistings.
  10. So we get pick 49. Gives us 4, 49, 62 and 70. One of them will go for Pedersen I assume.
  11. He has got to be favourite for first player delisted, and will hope the Dogs still have some interest in him in the delisted player free agency period. No club in line to receive a compo pick today would pick him up in the next 70 minutes.
  12. Terry Wallace said "To moi, Melbourne should get a third round selection but I think the AFL will give them a second rounder".
  13. Once compo picks are handed out tonight we will know more. He's expected to be a Demon. If our compo pick is band 4 or 5 that should do straight up but if we end up with pick 28 I can't see that being a straight swap.
  14. Find a club that will trade pick 8 for Pearce and Chaplin, call the MFC and strongly urge them to spend the next week dealing with this team.
  15. My guess for today's handouts: 13: St Kilda for Goddard 30: Port Adelaide for Pearce 44: Hawthorn for Young 48: Melbourne for Rivers 49: Port Adelaide for Chaplin 50: West Coast for Lynch 65: Adelaide for Knights 66: Hawthorn for Murphy
  16. That would be an unmitigated disaster. We'd jeopardise the 4 points and a healthy percentage boost. If we have any brains, we'll strongly request a game against one of the Perth teams up there since we do the AFL a favour by sacrificing a home game to play there, albeit for cash. I'll be livid if we play an expansion team there.
  17. If he was a Melbourne player, we'd all be complaining about what a blouse he is.
  18. Theoretically they did in 2007 but I recall that game was rigged with some farcical umpiring denying us victory, after which I completely lost the plot (forgot now what it feels like to get worked up at the footy). Good to see you've corrected this shambles in the record books. When we drew with Sydney in round 1 last year, we were alphabetically in the 8.
  19. It'll be interesting to see the impact of the placing of the compo pick on the Pedersen deal. If its 49 I guess we just hand that over, but if it's 27, surely the AFL would have to take over administration of the club if we gave up a pick that high for a 25 year old with 16 career games to his name who spent all but two games this season in the VFL. It just can't be as straightforward as Melbourne simply handing over a compo pick. We'll have to wait and see what transpires tomorrow. Apologies if this belongs in a Pedersen thread.
  20. In bigger news, what's with the name change?
  21. Usually when Melbourne players leave for another club I couldn't care less if they did their knee in three places, but I wish Rivers all the best. One of my favourites during his career.
  22. "Mummy! Greg Denham called us Bears again!" "What have I told you?" "To ignore him." "That's right. He only teases you to get a response. That way, he gains attention and feels relevant. It should only make you angry if you feel there is some truth in what he says." Do not feed the troll, people. Walk away.
  23. Hero. If it wasn't for his inspirational advice to Peter LaFleur, Average Joe's Gymnasium would never have won the dodgeball tournament and the gym would have been purchased and bulldozed by White Goodman for his auxiliary parking structure.
