  1. The Provendor next door makes a delightful mango smoothie. As good as a meal. They do a berry milkshake and will see if they can come up with a Raspberry and Blueberry version. Also very sorry to read of Jazza's passing. As a greater observer than contributor I always enjoyed his comments and observations. Many of his references struck home with me reminding me of glories past chasing the elusive waves down Johanna way and my formative years at the back end of the cow. What a pity he has only seen the beginning of the resurgence. May his memory stimulate us all. Go Dees
  2. Sounds like any political party really
  3. Thanks for the tips Our pick is for the card not just the plate so any other informed (or other inside information) would be equally appreciated. feeling very optimistic after the draft results so far Can even cope with losing Howe and Toumpas I am having faith that our coaches know the capacity of players and that these blokes just wont fit our requirements. Have postulated that Howe could become "Leaper Lynch" mark2"while Toumpas could be anything. But even if they are they wont hurt us at Collingwood and Port as we now appear to have a better balanced squad. Too much Footy?? Castagna wine tasting up here Saturday afternoon This is their annual tasting they do not operate a cellar door. Adams Rib was a stunner last year and "they" say that this years harvest is the best for many years High quality and intensity with volume as well. Probably not going to impact on prices Beechworth are always premium.
  4. Anyone have any tips for Coxplate program. Mate and myself do a phantom tip of the card each year. we used to attend but are both now relocated to the country and do a virtual tip. Last year I had a shocker and he out picked me. Hes a doggies supporter and I dont like to give him too much to brag about.
  5. its not just the disposal its the action with it. I couldnt help notice Hawthorn pinball disposal, always accompanied with the player giving off the ball falling back into his tackler to make space until there was enough space to make a good disposal. This tactic not only took the tackler out of the contest it often put them off balance and allowed the original player to launch themselves off that player. Very sophisticated and very effective.
  6. Thanks for that link MS would have missed it Some great sentiments in there and it does evoke the sort of sentiments I feel for the characters who inhabit Demonland. I did see some vision of the place which added to the reality of the article and I guess the phrase that we all need places like this to remind us of what is possible is perhaps a metaphor for the MFC. We as supporters are all merely a part of the ephemeral milieu aware of our fragility and awaiting some redemption.
  7. Very impressive appearances with some measured r and well prepared responses. Would hope that the pressure and intensity he applied at training is not diminished but in in fact encouraged so that every player is trained to play prepared for the contest. I liked another thread where it was commented that it is important that our younger players are given a taste of the intensity at AFL level and then returned to Casey to apply themselves. This can be replicated through the training sessions. Keep that intensity up Jack
  8. dpositive replied to dee-luded's topic in Other Sports
Froome seems to have them all covered with a Sky team that also is very cohesive and committed. Seems Ritchie is going to BMC which is a pity. Orica have a great team but no real GC contender. Gerro may have missed his chance. Ritchie would slip into the Orica squad well and there is plenty of depth to support him and allow him to finish off. Hope The Orica management have given this every chance of happening
  9. Sorry article in yesterdays age about the diminishing status of Fitzroy street. Libelous mention of the Gat and inhabitants. I hope someone is preparing the necessary retraction notices lest people draw some totally incorrect conclusions. While I appreciate that drug use is seen by some as a blight, we do not see the same derogatory comments about those loitering around the EFC. Please right this wrong.
  10. Appreciate your restraint and while this is not the time for unrestrained joy, that pleasure must be savoured when the ultimate success is achieved it is the time to enjoy the progress. While we all do not have to replicate BBO now is the time to partake of your own singular pleasure before we must again continue our various messages and means of inspirational efforts . Continue!
  11. Welcome Ultimate I wont be as subtle as Song Formerly Known As, I hope your enthusiasm doesn't fade and you don't let the frustration turn you into a twisted individual as Song suggests. I acknowledge your thoughts and hope you continue to express them despite any total disregard that will happen. In fact Song, like most here, is also a fantastic supporter. All dees supporters are, as we have been been treated to the most amazing football journey with so little ultimate reward. I hope you will appreciate the wealth of experience and knowledge that is displayed in commentary on Dland, and also hope you appreciate the wit and bulltish that is also prevalent, and usually with bullet like speed and rapier sharpness and learn to ignore some of the less than savoury comments. Well I think that leaves an opening for many so enjoy and GO DEES
  12. Thanks for comments The orchard is only a half dozen trees to feed the birds apples nectarines plums. All crop fallen but the trees need urgent attention for shaping. It is a first world problem as they say so no need for slave labour It is a pleasant refuge from the pressures of life and close access to the snow (unfortunately none of that at the moment)
  13. Your welcome to come to my place and prune the orchard Do I need to arrange a 457 visa??
  14. Gongs are awarded to recognise far less significant efforts. Unfortunately the only reward for "untiring MFC support" is the inner feeling of peace and tranquility in knowing that you can overcome the deepest extremes of all emotions to triumph and place the rest of the tawdry circumstances in life into their shallow perspectives. Expect same to continue today.
  15. Can't add much. Visited the nations capital, not much wasp activity witnessed. Enjoyed some great company and wines from a wide variety of areas. Most were aged and encouraged reflection on the pst. That's both the company and the wines. Unfortunately the reality of the present intruded as the current, playing group, which promised so much, continued the playing patterns of the immediate past to deliver a result, made more humiliating by the presence of 2 former Carlton supporters equipped with Giants regalia, who sang the Giants looney toons theme song after every goal, interrupted only by weary questions of, "where have the demons supporters gone" "can't hear you" etc. It was embarrassing for us, but even worse for the new generation of a 4generation supporting family in front of us. There was certainly no joy, no encouragement and no respect for us. Our limited response was restricted to a comment that the humorous commentary of these increasingly more euphoric supporters was similar to Abbott and Costello...........(the politicians not the comedians), and the hope that their support will have as much disappointment and pain as has been inflicted on demon supporters for so long. Unless you were there it is hard to convey the impact that this game inflicted. Expect greater discussion of non football related matters until our players understand the significance of their action. I may be able to comment on football threads but it will unfortunately be more negative than my sig name conveys. I will try not to wallow in misery and may need your assistance as I continue to enjoy your personal revelations and wit.
  16. Thanks for the news OD will share with the NE vignerons I know. There are some winemakers here with close contacts in other areas so it will be an interesting comparison point.
  17. WOW that is disturbing news We are coming off bumper crops of magnificent grapes in all the North East. The concern is what to do with the the large quantity of last years not so good which were kept after a few years of small yields of excellent quality. Price points are being put into interesting perspective. The euro wasps have been bad but I havent heard they affected the harvest.
  18. Ollie is a good player Toump may or may not have been better depends which conspiracy theory you choose to follow. Hopefully Roosy and other coaches will be in Toumps ear and tell him what he needs to do to be better than Ollie. Toump will hopefully not be haunted and falter but will improve. He may not become as good as Ollie as it will also depend upon his teammates development. JV and TV also have something to prove and will need toump to restore their credibility The better Ollie is the better our guys must be .
  19. This is not just a private chat thread but a social barometer, comedy session and so much more and all cheaper than a psychologist. And while there may not be much there is the occasional footy reference although these blokes usually have an opinion on most things and contribute throughout the site. They do sometimes stray but mainly keep on topic and unleash their weirdest discussions to this site. As said if you dont enjoy it dont read it the heading says it all
  20. And thanks for the reference to the general site I too do like my music eclectic as possible so will maintain a bit more of a watch on this
  21. We probably have the rhythm section here and the heritage of Mayday Hills asylum means that it a state we can all comprehend. But appreciate the walking frame does provide inconvenient moments. The Angels are headlining a concert down here and await with interest their lineup. The Brewsters were magnificent there last outing here but did comment themselves about the altered life styles of an ageing group. Makes you wonder how Keef, Mick, Ronny etc keep doing it.
  22. Good get Tim Thanks for the reference Did enjoy it The guitar is great especially the bottleneck segment. You are right it needs to be cranked up. If you are ever performing in NE VIc let us know It would be interesting to catch you if this is a representation of your music.
  23. It seems likely any country would see BBO as a significant incursion threat He may be lucky that Scott Morrison has moved on or he may not get back in
  24. Hey Jazza How long has it been. My thought is that you need to keep off em but I was always a light smoker and gave up pretty easily after a horrendous night with hangover and small plane trip with much vomiting . couldnt look at alcohol or ciggies for a bout a week and the first ciggie made me recall the horror. After many months went to footy with a mate (lives down your way at Yambuck) who smokes Old Holborn rollies and the aromatic smell is enough to attract me. But can still only have one and the taste is enough to put me off for another season. The ciggies do affect your tastes and good food and wine need to be appreciated without the tobacco dominating. In short I hope you can remain off the ciggs and keep yourself distracted with thoughts of a glorious season for the dees.
  25. Tasted a sparkling Gammay from Ross Gehrig Ross has been making excellent wines for many years and is one of our squash club members. We are fortunate to finish the night off often with a few samples from the region.
