Well This is what its about Frawley like 90% of players play to win the flag. He had played 8 years in the depths with no immediate sign of success. He was in an under seige backline with little chance of respite. WE gave him enough practice at playing under pressure but had no reward to offerHe perhaps coasted a little last year but has now had the ultimate success and "played his role" in that success. MFC should now use his success with our group of young and upcoming and our more seasoned players. Remind them that this is what they play for. This success brings higher rewards. This success comes through hard work improving skills and increasing workloads as I am sure Frawley did at Hawthorn. We must show them how this team absorbed and applied pressure, how they responded to the intensity of the game. If Frawley can do it so can you Dont let him Clarko. bruce, Yze etc be the only demons to enjoy premiership status lets make our own history by playing at our capacity each week and above it when required. Use the talent that you have, use the knowledge of the coaches, recognise the talents skills and experiences of your teammates and use them to achieve success. Use our squad wisely and rest players who need rest while building resilience and endurance of those needing it It all seems so simple but requires constant repetition start now Its up to the coaches Go DEES

its not just the disposal its the action with it. I couldnt help notice Hawthorn pinball disposal, always accompanied with the player giving off the ball falling back into his tackler to make space until there was enough space to make a good disposal. This tactic not only took the tackler out of the contest it often put them off balance and allowed the original player to launch themselves off that player. Very sophisticated and very effective.

I always remember the promised 5 year plan, then 3 years later the next 5 year plan, was announced. This happened every 3 years never quite reaching the targets. I am hoping that we can maybe present a 3 year plan and finish the job. The list we have certainly has great potential and needs to be managed over the full season with a better run of injuries.

It is a pity for Pavlich but the AFL didnt want to have the dockers style go to the main stage. Umpires managed the game accordingly and the result will benefit the Eagles as the AFL: doesnt want an all Vic final as seriously as they didnt want an All WA final Will be interesting to see if the umpires are required to manage an Eagles victory.

The ascension of Turnbull is interesting. Abbott was toxic and so was Hockey. Canning result was a pointer. Will Morrison be any better than Jo? So much will be hanging on his performance. Turnbull has the popular vote as people think his moderate civil and intelligent comments are desirable. What will happen when they find it is the same ideology with a different salesman as I am sure Labour party will portray. Shorten presented as a totally different package on Q&A although maybe not many of the swinging voters will watch the show. It will be interesting to see how the polls react to his measured and quite personable appearance. If he can maintain his conversation as a moderate presenting the policies of Labour in a less wooden presentation and out Turnbull as a hypocrite the results may well swing. Looking forward to some interesting iinternal politics in the LIB/ NAt coalition government and some consolidation of labour strategies probably left until closer to an election.

Earlier response was with "Low" change to fair market based, so yes that would be the rate and yes some players would be on "heaps" based on their performance. That heaps would be a fixed rate plus incentives, plus bonus, and improvement based on performance improvement. It could be a problem but insignificant if addressed properly

Which is an excellent place to start to really establish a culture. WE say Jeremy we are fair dinkum. We are going to be strong for the next 5 -10 years building around a core of players who really want to play for the club and get results that gets us the flag. When we have that success our memberships will increase and our ability to draw sponsors will increase. We are offering you and all our players a low salary based on where we finished on the ladder. If your performance with that of your teammates improves with the above results your salary will be increased. Its based on performance and if you perform above the level of the Hawks and the Eagles etc we will be able to pay more. Jesse and others have shown the desire and they will begin with a greater share of the pot. If you want to increase your share you will have to do more. Thanks Jeremy we are happy to offer you a contract for 6 years at that base level with significant success bonuses. There may even be one for the best mark but it will be linked to conversion from that mark. We will allow you to leave if you are offered more if you improve and we dont, but we reckon with you our team will be able to give all the success you want. Ask the other boys and if you want to share it we will be happy to have you aboard. We want a great team not just a good one we are putting every resource into that effort and want you to as well. Get back to us quickly coz pre season starts now.

A clear look at what we HAVE and what we NEED
dpositive replied to Young Blood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hey Chris great analysis You must have more time than me and obviously more interest. Sorry to be riding off your efforts. -
Libs must have been really spooked by Canning as the overthrow seems to have had a healthy dose os Juli involved. Strange thing is Labour would happily have let Abbott win Canning as he is the best thing they have going for them. Shorten will certainly have to lift his game against Turnbull but suggest parliament will be the easiest place to do that. Move a bill for the republic or climate change or gay marriage and watch the libs and Nats tear themselves apart. Its probably a question of who is going to be leader after Malcolm. Cant see Tony the political animal leaving quietly. This will be better than home and away. I know thats a low bar but has been around for a while.

Again thanks Chris My idea was not averages as they really dont tell you much But the actual age and games of a team (your selected fine) matched against other finals team. just to see how the team on the field matches of course this would only lead into further necessary analysis of the whole squad. But comparison of finals teams is surely a better measure than in isolation. Where do you get your original data?
-
Averages dont really reveal that much Head in the oven and feet in the fridge +on average comfortable I was more interested in the break up and age and experience. Even that doesnt provide that much useful information just more detail Watching the finalists was wondering how we compare to them in structure. How many at each age How many with x games. Of course this would only lead you to look at how many in each area ie defence Forward Mid. It would seem natural that a team with a mix of age and experience would be better placed than one with all youth or all aged and experienced. Or is a young defender better than an older defender/a young mid better than an older mid? etc. It also seems that the last round list management has shown the next step in team management selecting teams from the squad rather than just best 22 week in week out. Selecting to match opponents or rest bodies for selected matches may become the accepted action. Resting a player after a set number of games to build his condition. No implication on ability or slur from being dropped.

Hype about the Saints - is it justified?

GRRM that was a fantastic review theres a spot fo you in the media -
The club report says he has been offered a role in the footy dept retired from playing. while that is obviously a difficult emotional decision for a player it can also be a positive. today I would be making the players understand as Roos did that they must play to respect a player who got the most out of what he had. I would be saying to all the boys this will be a test of them. Then when he returns as coach he can have some greater authority knowing who will play for him. Time for the club to use this opportunity not waste it. The interesting thing was his emotion which obviously affected his delivery. Again that was a positive but he may need some speech training if he is to deliver confidence messages in the future. I have only good things to say about Daniel Cross he has added to the Melbourne club hope we do not forget that contribution.

I am pleased he has added respectability to my own characteristics. I now await appointment to the next multimillion$ opportunity to display my equanimity.

Will the Big Russian get a farewell game?
dpositive replied to The Lobster Effect's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surely ask the players. The coach thinks we need to win this game but can only do that with the best most committed team. Ask Jamar first does he think he can help the team win. What will he do to make that happen. 1 Ok boys the Russian has said he wants you to win and he reckons you can do it better without him Or 2 ok boys the Russian reckons you can win with him Who's gonna bust a gut to help get that result Players response will then provide the answer If not enough can/ will commit to his decision they don't get a gig- 85 replies

MFC need to do something about free kick practices that have been evident for many seasons. We need to request publicly that the umpires advisors provide us with some assistance to train our players in some of the many features of the game that we obviously do not prepare adequately for. Our players have never had their heads protected from opposition high tackles and yet always seem to give away high tackles. We rarely receive free kicks for in the back while always giving away free kicks for in the back. Opposition players seem able to dispose of the ball in any fashion while we are often pinged for incorrect disposal. If we are in front of an opposition player they can interfere with us with no penalty when we tackle we seem to give away an inordinate amount of free kicks. Opposition teams can play with confidence against us that they will be protected while our players must become frustrated that their efforts are not given the same protection. The number of times free kicks are given against the run of play where an opposition is able to score where we have been denied similar advantage and even when we were commiitting all players to offensive play which is turned around by a free kick whicjh often the players on both sides are confused by is amazing. Maybe I am a biased supporter but I reckon an analysis of free kicks in our games would show a disproportionate imbalance. When I went to most matches years ago it was obvious and I did some comparisons off newspaper reports of all games and our matches were always significantly lopsided. I recall there was a particular umpire who always had a disproportionate record. I dont see enough games and possibly dont care enough but the few games i have followed I always hear the commentators saying "surely that was a free kick" when it was critical to us I rarely hear them saying this when watching other teams. We do not seem to get the dodgy free often. When we have we have like our opponents in most matches won. The game is one of such small percentages that free kicks have a big influence. We need to recognise that we do not know how to get the best result from this attribute of the game. I apologise for raising this matter again but I have never seen any response indicating that we benefit from free kicks and that we know how to exploit the advantage that having free kicks paid can give.

Looks like the Commissioner is doing enough to undermine the RC himself. I'll wait for the decision before I worry about Winslow

Welll its just a suggestion but No Id be inclined to make sure I earned every cent but I always did that. I was also on comparatively smaller salaries where every dollar counted. and I would not be losing anything for lack of performance. I do sometimes think entertainers are overpaid and dont value the earnings as much.

I like Number 1 and look forward to 2 ,3, etc This is a creative and unique idea to differentiate our culture. It would be difficult to administer, and must be transparent and equitable. It should be an offer to a player recognised as such with no recriminations if he does not wish to participate. How would we treat Mitch Clarke? How would we treat a player who is delisted to a minor league and then retires from there? How do we treat a player retiring from SANFL? How would you treat a player injured and retires who then resumes after treatment? Not insurmountable problems but would need to be handled sensitively Players who retire are farewelled in the last round or on grand final day i believe so acknowledgement is already there perhaps MFC can ensure that his and our relationship is emphasised in that process.

Im not confused Dc Certainly not worried by gay marriage rights but concerned with Abbott in power. His pragmatic actions are only to retain his position. For Wrecker to say Abbott is the champion of same sex marriage is a bit of a stretch, if he was he would just pass it. Like Gillard he is also spooked by the power of the conservative minority. Abbott is displaying more dysfunctional governing attributes than the minority labour government ever did without the same reasons. I dont think we will have to worry about him long. If the government continues to alienate itself from so many minorities it will self immolate. I guess I can say from the independent seat of Indi that I dont see either party really advancing the cause of democratic representation. So not confused but involved and wishing to be able to make well informed decisions. Thanks for your contributions to discussions

Sorry HH looks like you had the same idea add Riley Spencer Tyson and Jetta to the play list Worst they can do is identify themselves as NQR

Perhaps rest Jones fora final fling at a win in the last meaningless for any other reason game. Then ask those players who are going to be prepared to kill themselves for their captain to make sure that that game is won and rest those that need rest (like Brayshaw) Then play Jamar McKenzie Bail Michie Fitz Terlich and MJones. tell them they are playing for their football future and to join those others who are going to play for Jonesy.
