  1. 'WJ', I think this is John Ralph's spin on what Dennis said. Having heard the interview I don't remember Dennis presuming any guilt at all, he was talking about the detrimental effect that losing draft picks would have on Melbourne and Adelaide if the AFL penalised the clubs.
  2. Stringer? if he slides down the order there will be a lot of "Darling" questions asked sometime next year.
  3. I think it is a great idea too, it would be good a good promo for the VFL and great for our young developing players. Given the time of year and possible bad weather then maybe a fall back position could be to shift to Punt Rd if there is any likelihood of damage the the 'G'
  4. If anyone heard Dennis Pagan with KB this morning you would realise the effect of losing draft picks would have on a club. Dennis spoke on a lot of club issues and it's well worth a listen if they put the audio up, there are some lessons their for us.
  5. I guess that's why Essendon and Richmond are racing ahead to join Geelong and Collingwood into there own disasters and WC & Freo are disappointed they can't join the party.
  6. He had a fair bit of size when he came to the club and can really play, beautiful kick and will be like a new recruit for us this year. Looking forward to watching his progress.
  7. Couldn't happen in a football club could it?
  8. Depends on how it was setup by the AFL. Who was he contracted to or by? did he come under the salary cap at all?
  9. No draft picks, no trade, no Green. Give him time 'Big Jim' he's not going to be a free agent until somewhere around 2019. Draft picks will still be important for us going forward.
  10. The questions are, how much were they paying Filou and how much was in their salary cap? ...and how much was salary cap exempt under some kind of AFL promotional budget? I don't know the answers to these questions but I'm pretty sure they didn't carry much of the burden.
  11. The only smokey for me would be Stringer, it's only injury that has held him back. If the legs ok then he offers a lot, probably the pick of this draft. Wines looks a safe bet but if he was not available...
  12. Plus Brogan has signed on for another year.
  13. Quite measured for a change, just maybe he sees the damage this is doing and even though he has a big issue with CS is not sinking the boots into the supporters. With her remarks on Jim if it was my mate she was talking about I wouldn't be in the same room as her let alone work with her. There is no way known Gary can work with her and time for him to stand up. She is putting it all on the line here.
  14. I thought we have been shooting the messenger up until now but this is totally over the top, she's throwing the toys out of the sandpit. Maybe it's because I'm an MFC supporter that I much prefer Mark Fines' approach to this. Good old 'Viney' who has as good a handle, well probably much better handle on the average supporter than anyone else in the media reckons that he and the supporter in the street see Melbourne as being victimised for something that has been going on with all clubs since the priority pick came in. Own up to the mistake AFL, amnesty and move on. Unfortunately much bigger ego's than 'Finey' run the AFL so I can't see this happening.
  15. Strauss has a really good kick on him; a few things I noticed at Casey a couple of years ago before the leg (the Scully game for Casey at Werribee). Howe, Tommy Mc and Strauss stood out, particularly his kicking which was pin point, low hard and accurate. HIs senior games back after the leg he hasn't taken the game on and used his kicking to advantage, in fact I found it frustrating that he tended to give off a lot when he got the ball.
  16. Robbo, Robbo, Robbo....CW has beaten you to the punch my friend. The effort you have come up with today, and to think I had a sleepless night with all the possibilities of what new revelations you have going through my head. The only new thing here is that Bailey wanted to develop a flexible team and we had a least one delusional player who thought we could have won 5 more games.
  17. Doesn't matter who it's coming from if true it's just dumb...and I thought adelaide were stupid with the tippett thing.
  18. Funny thing I think both boards have a lot to answer for, I'm interested in how we fix this going forward for no other reason than I want the club to be a success.
  19. Trouble with this garbage on here about the Gardner board v the Stynes board is it is hijacking what should be a serious debate about where the club stands now and what it should be doing going forward. The Gardner board in the end was a failure so lets not try and point score (my board is better than yours) now at a time when the club is in trouble. When we have the debate many here have backed Schwab for his financial management of the club and I understand the points being made, my view is different on this and it is that he is a divisive figure like it or not and we would be much better placed without him. Yes there are white ants, people with agendas, payback or whatever but it's doing us no good having someone who draws this to the club. In any organisation numbering more than one there is alway politics at play and disaffected people but you don't have this sort of thing drawn to someone like Cook or more particularly Swan or Robson who must have created some enemies switching clubs (big clubs) mid stream. I also have a big problem with a failed rebuild and don't trust we have the right people at the top to go through it again. This current tanking issue only backs that up for me. We should have made the moves to be rid of both Bailey and Schwab/Connelly at the same time, cleared the slate and moved on. This is my only issue with the current board, they should have held firm with their initial decision to not renew Schwabs contract and they got spooked. Now we face another disruptive season.
  20. He looked (Trenners) a bit finer in the legs, it may have been an optical illusion but during the season he looked so heavy in the legs. I think he will be one that really steps up next season.
  21. Mr dial a quote, when will Acker have his say?
  22. Not sure what you are getting at here, but there is nothing back room about my post it's there for you to see.
  23. Right with the first but you could hardly include the other 2 as decision makers in the late 90's.
