  1. Not sure how hard they tried, it was a bit of a chicken and egg situation.
  2. It's an interesting topic. I've had a problem with how they set the club up and the AFL has a lot to answer for here. I posted this a year or two back. The idea was this club was supposed to come into the comp and be competitive, the problem is they are shooting for a flag in a couple of years time. These things are not mutually exclusive. In doing this they have created a lot of dead rubber one sided games which is bad for TV which means bad for the game. 2 reasons why the AFL are a fail on this is one, they needed to have more control over the process instead of letting others with a different agenda, Gubby and SOS run it. Two, they needed to have the pre team team play in the VFL like GC did. Bringing kids out of the Sydney Mickey Mouse comp into the AFL comp was an amateur hour move. The coming season will give an indiction of where they are at in the premiership race but at the moment GC are a fair way ahead, more than their one year advantage in the competition. To me GWS needed to be competitive in their first year or two, they haven't been and even a premiership will not win the west. Soccer has this region covered. The AFL and GWS lost the one year advantage going for a short medium flag…game over.
  3. Don't be too concerned 'wyl', Tyson will be one of the top 5 mids in the comp in the next couple of years. He see's the game like Pendles and Mitchell…in slow motion. You can't teach that. Kelly to me is Scully with a better kick and cleaner hands, he will be a good player no doubt and he works hard at it but I would back Tyson to be the gun. Salem is a bonus and a very good one.
  4. I think she does have the inside word but unlike a lot of her colleagues she also does her homework, watches games and interviews all the kids. That would give her some respect in the recruiting community and maybe be more access to information.
  5. Good pace and balance with the ball, nice kick. It's going to be interesting to watch him develop but he has a huge upside and might just be the bargain pick of the draft.
  6. Like!!!!
  7. Sharenberg wouldn't have got past us. Credit where it's due, the trade with WC to get pick 6 was a killer deal and in the end both clubs got what they wanted. As for the feet, well lets see in a couple of years. I think the Saints and Dogs made a big mistake…I actually think GWS did too, not their first one. edit: Grundy wasn't an anomaly, just conventional wisdom about rucks that is a load of BS.
  8. Scharenberg and Grundy the last 2 drafts are absolute gifts. The Dogs and Saints are mad to pass on Scharenberg.
  9. He had a go about Kelly again, and every time I text and ask him how many games he's seen Kelly play (none) I never get an answer.
  10. Not if Scharenberg is available.
  11. Maybe they were after Acres all along.
  12. We don't really know who and in what order Collingwood would have picked if they only had 18 & 19, they might have gone Kennedy and Broomhead. Pretty sure it would have been Grundy but the point is we gave away a good pick on Dawes and to date he hasn't delivered, he needs to this year.
  13. Barrett admits he knows nothing about Tyson and I can guarantee you neither of them have seen Kelly play so it is just uninformed opinion based on 2nd and 3rd hand information.
  14. …and neither of them know.
  15. Can't see it, but then again who thought Grundy would drop down to what was it, 18 last year. I'm really interested to see what we do, with who's available. As someone posted earlier I wouldn't be surprised if we went for Acres or another pick we have not been linked to, even Dummont maybe. The only real clue we get from Taylor is that we are making our own judgement and won't be influenced by the conventional wisdom of the day. Read that as maybe the media and draft experts could be off the mark.
  16. Still wouldn't be surprised if Scharenberg goes to GWS at 2.
  17. No ones talking about bluffing, just that we might not pick who the media and so called draft experts think we will.
  18. I gave him a bit more credit than that, he's falling for the line I think was from a HS DH. Should have known better.
  19. …and when Acres or Sheed or whoever we pick is taking the game apart for us we can let him know about it. The one problem I have with some of the reporting on Kelly is the DH who said we had 2 chances to get him. Well technically that is correct but lets just see how he stacks up against Hogan who we did take in his place the first chance.
  20. Wouldn't be surprised.
  21. I'm really interested in who's available and who we do pick up.
  22. It's not the only thing he got wrong, and you're right we should get on with it. I'm just not to keen on re writing history and making him (CS) a victim in this.
  23. They know as much as you or I mate.
