  2. This is about a bad game plan, not not having a plan B. The basic plan was poor.
  3. Is it on the prohibited substance list? I thought it was some catch all list, don't know what this is but does it specifically list substances or just situations that draw it into that list? Ok, so this is why it's on the list?
  4. Yep, and as you say positional or tactical moves. A game plan is not about keeping the same players in the same positions, it is about the way the team plays football. If someone is letting the team down then they get moved and in turn dropped if they don't get it right. If the plan is working well it may not matter that an opposition mid is racking up the touches in the overall scheme. A solid game plan is what is required, forget 'Plan B', no good side has a 'Plan B'.
  5. Or not banned by ASADA, agree with you here.

No 'Sat', that is just not true. CS left the club in a mess, the biggest mistake was bringing him back into the club for a 2nd go. If you don't think the club was a mess then why did the AFL have to step in to right the ship...and no matter which way they (AFL) put it PJ is here because the AFL wanted him here, Roos is here because PJ and the AFL wanted him here, Bartlett is here because PJ and the AFL wanted him here. I don't want to dig up the past but I will when someone tries to re write it and you have by saying the only mistake made was Neeld. Neeld was the wrong man for the job but anyone would have struggled with the way the club has been mismanaged from board level down.
  7. Not sure you're right here. That would mean ASADA (WADA) would have to approve everything that is taken by an athlete; all food, drinks, supplements, drugs... AOD came under a catch all to do with substances not approved for human use by drug administrators.
  8. I'm not sure the substance itself was prohibited. I think it was part of a list of things not yet approved for human use which in effect made it prohibited in the catch all. Why I raise this is that the cream was being sold for human use in pharmacies as some kind of miracle cream. I don't know whether this then makes the cream legal in a sporting sense or it was being sold under some other loophole. Would appreciate if anyone knows if the cream was in fact cleared for human use and if that means even if a player used it ....if....then he is clear anyway.
  9. Absolutely correct 'rpfc'. So many people including some coaches and so called experts don't get this. Lucky for us and the players Roos does.

He always put bunches of words together well 'wyl', it's just they never amounted to much.
  11. I think you are well off the mark here 'master'. He is hardly close to harping on about anything nor hypocritical. His point re Watts was he didn't want Saleem, Hogan, Toumpas, Viney etc. to be handled in the same way. It really had nothing to do with Goodes, that was a separate point. As for the players; I know you go to training and you can see how the mood of the place has changed already so rather than harping on I would suggest he has taken action to get the group moving forward.
  12. I think many refer to Plan B when they haven't got a clue what Plan A is in the first place. The plan would talk about when to slow the tempo of a game etc. these are the contingencies and make sense. But having a defensive plan and then moving to an attacking plan would be A & B to me and almost impossible for players to get a handle on. I think over the last number of years it was hard to establish what we were doing and players like Watts and Howe to name a couple had no idea where or what they were required to do.
  13. This was a tactic used by Hawthorn during Jeans time and Stone was onboard then. The idea was that you could control the ball in close, block, spread and create options. As you would know it's hard to control the ball from the ruck with a long tap or punch out, if you can drop it to someone with quick hands like Cross or Tyson they can dish out to a runner. I wouldn't be surprised to see us still do this but to much better effect.
  14. You need a solid plan, you don't just throw it out when things are going bad. If the plan is good it will have contingencies built in for certain situations. Players are simple really, they need to be drilled with a good plan. It can't be changed mid match. Like all of us they like to know what they are doing and have faith in what they are doing.
  15. I hope it was noted there is no "Plan B". I always laugh at the supporters ringing up Finey about Ratten, Knights etc etc saying we don't have "Plan B". If you have a good game plan there is no such thing as "Plan B", everything is covered in the plan. If you have "Plan B" you have a mess and players don't know what the hell they are doing.
  16. Good read, really good read and again underlines the benefits of having someone like Roos in charge along with the experience of Stone and Allison. Clark, Dawes and Hogan are going to love being on the end of kicks from Watts, Vince, Tyson, Toumpas and Salem.
  17. This is what he did throughout his junior career, we didn't trade pick 2 for nothing and we also got Salem. Looks a good deal to me.
  18. I will be looking for something resembling a football team in these matches. We haven't seen that in quite a while.
  19. Me too, good to hear he has a long kick in him.
  20. So the ball didn't really go forward? I didn't see the game but hardly sounds like he gave him a bath, maybe more like limited supply unless Riv got leather poisoning. Riv is not a good one on one player particularly against strong forwards but let him float across and he will kill it. Remember the Doggies game a few years back and Malthouse was in the commentary box saying you can't allow Rivers to zone off, he saved the game in the last Q. He doesn't get that luxury very often now and doesn't have another string to the bow.

    I heart PJ

Heard the Koch interview and his use of the word compensation is spot on. After the initial response to the guy from a lot in the media and football in general (must admit to wondering what he was doing as President of a club) he's proving to be a big asset for the AFL.
  22. ...and as we know he struggles when he gets matched up with a tall forward (Hale) and they take him deep into the square.

Agree with you, some times his media profile and capability clouds his lack of experience and ability as a coach. From the outside looking in he doesn't seem to have handled the group well at all, it seems he is in some kind of mini rebuild but the natives will get very restless if they fall away this year. Eddie might have his work cut out.

I would say signing PJ & Roos almost goes hand in glove with signing Hogan & Frawley.
