PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025
Good question and one for ' @Webber'????

Where to play Caleb Windsor?
I don't understand what you mean by centreman...the role that say Hassa Mann played as a true centreman is no longer a part of the game. What role do you want Windsor to play when you keep bringing this up? Should he take centre bounces? how should he position around the ground? Who plays this role for other clubs? I'm trying to understand your meaning here.

The Value Of Practice Matches
I wouldn't have agreed a few years back but I shifted my thinking on this. All clubs go in level with no practice matches. ...and as you say, a far better build up.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
I couldn't find the records on Tom and trusted good old AI who told me he played none. After further searching you are correct, he played 19 senior games in his first 2 seasons which suggest a fair few in the 2's. I'm pretty sure Buddy was in & out in his first season or so... ...but, they still had a fair few games at senior level. Kennedy is an interesting one...imagine if he could emulate him... I still stand by the thought that this is the time for Jeffo to stand up or he risks being another to fall by the wayside. I really hope he makes it, but being burned before I'm not as trusting this time around.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
It's often quoted but I will make the point again that the good ones take time in the 1's... People continually bring up Hawkins as an example, I don't think he played any games in the 2's. Yes, they take time but usually at the highest level. I would say it is time for Matty, he's had his games at Casey and now needs to stake his claim or be just another promising forward who need to take time.

Tairon Ah-Mu - No access for Dees NGA Talent
The AFL's charter is to grow the game...they should be doing the work and not pushing it to the clubs. A big reason they granted academies to Victorian clubs was because of the whining of McGuire and co in regard to the Northern academies. Instead of fixing things they just made them worse. The whole system is a dogs breakfast...

Tairon Ah-Mu - No access for Dees NGA Talent
Not sure how old you are 'Return' but the old zone system really stitched us up and was a big reason why we went so long without a flag. I'm against anything that looks like a zone and would rather we keep some integrity in the draft. The current system as you have already alluded to can be too easily rorted like the old zone system was. The less interference the better, keep things simple. Go to the draft, let the AFL spend their money on development. Development of the game after all is a big part of their charter.

Tairon Ah-Mu - No access for Dees NGA Talent
I would rather these pathways be scrapped and taken over by the AFL...

A couple of average KPF's there 'stinga'...surely you could have found some better examples.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
The big excuse about key forwards taking time is a bit of a furphy for those stuck in the 2's. Yes, to have a big impact it may take more time for key forwards but pretty much all of the good ones are taking time in the 1's not the 2's... Big year for Jeffo.

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
You seriously have a problem...no need to be obnoxious in your posts. Yes, I do realise we have been regenerating the list. However, if we fail this year (which by the way I doubt we will unless something unforeseen happens) we would probably have to look at a full on rebuild before the Tasmanian team enters the competition.
-
Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
You're probably right but there have been murmurs about Brayshaw plus Darcy will probably be usurped by Jackson or visa versa so there may be room to move there. edit: it's a big season for both clubs. If they fail again then the glue won't be so strong to bind the team, players will look to move. If we do then it's rebuild time for us.

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
If he's desperately homesick then we need to play the how homesick are you card and invite WC to the party...

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
Dangerfield was a free agent but Geelong softened the blow. Bolton, the tiges wanted picks, Rankine was on the GC roundabout, who cares...Cameron a free agent, Taranto and hopper work middle of the road and got it...Jackson, an interesting one but we came out ok in the end, Barrass WC didn't seem interested to keep more wanting picks, HF, well it didn't matter much to North, they weren't in contention and picks were good enough on a list build...
-
Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
The point is that we're still in contention. Why would we be willing to give up one of our established players?
-
Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
The thing is that we don't have to trade...
-
Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
This is a really a dumb statement... Do you think we really want to let Kozzie go? What is it with our supporters...think one of our contracted players will go but for some reason think we can't get one back. Of course they want to improve their list, what we don't. Our job is not to help them get a better list, it's about ours and if they really want Kozzie then they are going to have to give up something really good to get him. I give up...
-
Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
I hope we're not going to go on with this all season... A good way to ruin a great game.
-
Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
I would rather keep Koz but lets say he really wants to go. Firstly if he's homesick we should deal with WC...then if it's obvious he's not but wants to go to Freo... I don't think a trade gets done without a top level player involved. Maybe Brayshaw or Young perhaps Darcy if we want a Gawn successor.

The Go Home Factor
For a player in contract it is still true. Can't see us caving on Kozzie if he wants out at the end of this season.

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
...a lot of water to go under the bridge here I would think. A contracted player. Will have 2 premierships at the end of season so the price would be high if he were to be leaving.
