  1. I've not doubt they played the biggest part but even the AFL were surprised at the emails, letters and calls received from members...as I said in some small part. Members vote with their feet 'Sat', they renew or don't, go to games or don't, support or don't. Very few go to AGM's and as you note most don't like to talk but they all have an opinion.
  2. You are 100% correct but we have no influence over how the game is played, selection etc. yet all have an opinion which is why we use the forum. We also are a club and these lessons need to be understood by members if and when board elections come up, that's where we may have some influence. Pressure from members to the AFL helped in some small way to get them on board and bring Jackson in. We have continually made the same mistakes and it is a good thing if the members of the club understand or at least discuss them so we as members can at least vote with our feet. Nothing wrong with that. ...and as 'old dee' points out above, winning is what will heal the wounds or at least paint over them for a time.
  3. He was an excellent kick, good decision maker and pretty good overhead. Biggest problem was his focus, he would drift in and out of the game too much. Injury in his first season didn't help things plus coming into the club during the last few years was not a bonus either. Playing in SA this year and I hope he works hard enough to get another crack at it down the track.
  4. I know what he means but 193cm is hardly tall these days and you would expect him to be a good kick. This should not be the exception.
  5. Very odd comment, at 193cm he is almost at midfield height these days and he better be an excellent kick if he wants a long term future in the game.
  6. Blind loyalty...probably about the same thing.
  7. No...you don't drink I thought. Must be something else.
  8. Neil Craig?
  9. Defensive forwards are over rated as are the so called small forwards. All players on the ground now are expected to put on defensive pressure. If you are spending any time in the forward line I would expect you to kick goals, nothing hurts a defender more and puts doubt in his mind. A forward who is just there to tag a defender is a waist of space and the defender has 3/4 of his job done for him. A long winded way of saying Jetts doesn't hit the scoreboard.
  10. ...and his manager has played a big part in this. He has been badly advised, in particular his appearance on the footy show.
  11. Agree 'P_Man', Roos will keep him if he thinks he can work with him or trade him if the offer is good. To date he has shown nothing to indicate he will fit the game style and player type that Roos has gone for at Sydney. Not to say he can't but the evidence to date says no, he really needs to lift his work rate. Anyway I'm interested to sit this out and see which way it goes.
  12. Depends on what is offered 'wyl' and Roos might have other ideas.
  13. All part of it but he just doesn't know how to work hard enough to harness his abilities. If he goes, he goes once then doesn't back up again and again week after week. Nothing about wavering or distraction, it's just plain work rate.
  14. It's work rate with Jack, I don't think he will ever be hard at the contest but if he can work harder then he will be a player.
  15. Yes, Jimmy is a different type of player but it's the comments from people like Rucciuto and a few other experts who continue to say don't worry the kid will be a gun that make me feel we have got it right. Lets sit back and watch, I think he is carrying the burden of Cook, Gysberts, Morton and to some degree Watts and it's unfair on him. ...and yes Wingard pretty much signed himself up as an AA with his effort for Port today.
  16. My biggest concern with Jimmy is that I've yet to see him kick a ball more that 30mtrs, he continually chips the ball around. This is good old SA footy at it's best and one reason why we need Roos or Eade as coach next year and not Craig or Williams.
  17. He hasn't shown that he can 'Adam' and it's hardly a wake up call when he is being shopped around by his manager for more cash.
  18. Small forward are a waste of time, he's no good to us unless he can run through the middle. LeCras kicking has also bee off a bit this year 'stuie', but he is still streets ahead of Betts as a player. Much more flexibility.
  19. I agree with this thought, a true small forward is worth jack... Apart from your back 3, pretty much everyone else is a mid these days. The Milne/Betts type small forward offers nothing.
  20. I think better, he has a lot more depth but never gets it enough.
  21. No hip op but a basic arthroscopy. Sucked into playing another game when I had retired, didn't need a lot of convincing to play though. Wish I could still do it. He'll be ok, I reckon his biggest problem is he puts too much pressure on himself. A bit of time and another pre season or so as you say and he will settle.
  22. Agree, he will finish up a one club player at the end of the season. He has no more to give, got the best out of himself.
  23. No, you don't pick up a development player at his pick. That's for a smokey down the list who will play a bit a Casey and may surprise. He's playing a lot of senior footy, some good, some bad. Wouldn't expect much different at this stage, I think he will be ok.. The hip op happened around this time last year and is being over played a bit, he did a preseason with the rest of the new boys and like them all he needs time to build on that. It's always a reduced programs for 1st year players.
  24. Some of this stuff has been coached out of the players. Toumpas kicked these goals in the SANFL and didn't think twice about it.
  25. I guess that's why he played his best game for us when we were well on top of Geelong??? Look it is a long way to go for him, we all know that. Give him some time to prove himself or not whatever the case will be, Ricciuto reckons he will be a gun and that's enough for me at the moment.
