As I said, don't expect a reasonable response when your start a post unreasonably, or offensively. Your point became blah blah blah after that. I didn't even bother trying to read all of it. When you decide to show some social skills ill respond -

I have no idea OD. He has been held back developing as a one trick pony. That being a HBF. Only recently has he moved to a HFF. The reality is the club has not had the skills, or facilities (until recently) to develop players. PJ has got it right by saying the same What I do know he played well and showed he had talent by playing some impressive games before breaking his leg. You have been vocal saying he is not AFL quality. I have hope he can perform in the big league, if developed properly. -

If the MFC had their own team in the AFL, I have no doubt that the club would sacrifice wins to develop players. Magner and Couch would play a role in protecting the youngsters, but they would not monopolise the midfield. Casey cannot exist without the the support of the club. We basically run Casey anyway. The coaching staff have got it wrong. Neeld got it wrong as did Bailey. The assistants are a product of Neeld. They coach for wins at the expense if developing AFL players -

I don't think I missed your point PJ. Ablett took many years to get to the point where he is now. He was not a Judd who starred from his first game. Development plus desire has got him to the level he is now. Cats players admitted that he was their go to man. Ablett was tagged and his players protected him and gave him the ball. IMO culture contributed to his status too. Exactly what the MFC don't not do. The Toump had a poor game against the lions and the players did not make an effort to give him the ball. A massive confidence killer IMO Remember the days of old how the players decided to give Schwartz the ball his first game back from a knee injury. We have gone backwards Hawkins was another father son rule player whi was under whelmng I his first years too -

rhaz, I was at the Werribee game and Hogan made the most of limited opportunities and with poor delivery kicked 3 goals. The guy is special. Manger had 25 odd possessions and did not influence the game. Couch had a poor game. Viney played, half the game as a HFF. Rodan was extremely impressive before doing a hammy. It was obvious Rodan was the go to man before his injury. Rodan is not the future. Strauss was prominent on a HFF. Due to the opposition pressure his input was just ok. But he tried and had more influence than Couch. Yet Couch stayed in the midfield. Strauss at least showed something in a team that was dominated McKenzie dived on the ball in the pack and got 20 odd possessions. When the opposition spread out of the pack Jordie was picking himself up off the ground while his opponent ran forward. Jodie tried to kick 20 metres to an opponent near by but his. Kicks did not make the mark and he turned the ball over. Mostly in Werribee's forward half Taggert had issues with his teeth therefore played in the development league. Barry was a shinning light on a wing. Not once did he start in the centre square where he could have used his pace to deliver the ball to hogan without pressure from the opposition using his nice skills running out of the square (developing him) If Casey are winning due to players who have no future at the club it's fools gold!!!! If they are winning due to players who can make a very poor MFC better, it was some value. Winning culture is only good if the right players are winning the ball/game It's the same formula with Casey each week. Play Taggert, Strauss, Tappscot (particularly when the play is against us so he can bash and crash the opposition players who are killing us), a bit like Guerra did to Bruce In StKilda game years ago. Casey winning is great but it's has NO value to the Dees at the minute. Results speak for themselves. We can no longer blame Neeld. Time to get our players to stand up at AFL and VFL level -

Partly disagree with Taggert Dr, he has strung together many games this year as a HFF. From my reckoning he has had little time rotating thru the middle. Strauss is another, as is Tapscott. Tynan is another who played some games on a HBF in the TAC (although he was forced to play CHB at TAC level due to lack of talls for Gippsland) Why play players in lower leagues (VFL) on flanks? Footy experts say the HFF can be the hardest position to play to have an impact on the game. Of course this is unless your a Rioli. At this stage I would rather a Kent playing for Casey rotating they the midfield than playing HFF at AFL level. He is only getting a few possessions The reality Couch, Magner, Rodan and McKenzie (some may disagree with Jordie) are not the clubs future. In order to have a future you need to work towards one. Play the players I mentioned in the roles I mentioned. If they fail, move them on. -

Yet the top teams have flankers who can rotate thru the middle. Its modern day footy, Strauss need more strings to his bow than a back flanker/pocket -

This is exactly my point. Cases play players to get into finals. The MFC should be aspiring the same. Magner, Couch, Rodan and Mc Kenzie are good VFL players. None of these players will assist the MFC to win more than 4 games a year. History backs this up. Taggert, Strauss and Tapscott have the ability and physicality to play the midfield too. Tapscott is in danger of being delisted (Strauss too) without been given the chance to perform in the middle. Being flankers holds back their development Collingwood Essendon (prior to the year) and Hawthorn don't require to have their VFL teams in finals to develop players. Sydney play their reserves team in a much weaker league and they don't a require finals to develop their players either. It's a misnomer to think playing finals at VFL is good for player development. Giving players more responsibility in the VFL develops players You call it a training drill Maurie. I call it development and being smart -

I couldn't care less who's drop in their fathers balls they have came from. Every junior needs development. Geelong dictate that a Caddy plays midfield coz that's what they want him to do when selected in he seniors. That's good strategic development. Abblett, Hawkins etc do not become good players by the quality of their dads sperm -

It's not that players arnt getting a game Dr, it's the positions they are playing in is the point. How does anyone expect Taggert to be Midfielder when he has very minimal time in the midfield at Casey. Casey is developing flankers. Taggert was recruited as a big strong tall midfielder and hasn't had much chance in he middle for nearly two years. Why is it he club can't produce midfielders. Part of the problem has to be that Casey isnt paying our young recruits in midfield roles. -

Comparing Sydney, the Cats and the Hawks to Casey is just plain stupidity. The fact is the VFL don't have the playing talent to play like AFL teams. They cannot run 14 players thru their midfield. Casey can't even rotate Taggert, Tapscot, trynan, etc etc thru their midfield. -

The fact is Taggert Tapscott and others are not getting quality timenin the middle. No wonder we lack mids. All our Mids are flankers in a much inferior league -

On a another note, Hogan is playing a KP role and is the first choice when going forward. Yes he is a freakish good player and players have trust he will produce results. How can the Taggerts of this world gain the same trust/role if they aren't given the chance -

OD, the best players at VFL play in the important roles, ie midfield. Why play Taggert against lessor players playing CHB. Where is the development? A winning culture is only great if its the MFC players ate contributing to the winning. ATM Casey is winning on the back of McKenzie, Magner and Couch winning he ball. Taggert can do this, albeit inconsistently, due to youth. I rather Casey scrape I to the finals on the back of Taggert, Barry, Tapscott etc Magner, Couch and McKenzie will not help the MFC raise its ladder position -

A winning culture is great, I agree. But how do we expect the types of Taggert, Strauss, Evans, Barry, Tapscott, Barry, Kent(when at Casey), Blease(when at Casey) to be midfielders at AFL when Magnet and Couch monopolise these roles? I was at Werribee last week and Viney played a fair portion at HFF. IMO Magner and Couch aren't AFL players. I would rather our younger ones learn their craft at casey and therefore have a go (and impact at AFL level) in the midfield. The top 4 clubs have approx 14 midfielders who rotate thru the middle and play flanker roles. Carlton suffer from having 3 very good small forwards who do not impact in the midfield. Time the club developed as many midfielders as possible. It's modern day football. Strauss is type cast as a flanker. Poor development IMO -
Neelds recruited Magnet and Couch to the club trying to create competition for midfield spots. In reality these two players are holding back the development of other players. They are monopolising midfield spots at Casey not allowing the younger players to play and learn their craft in the midfield. The top clubs don't just have midfielders, they have utilities. Midfielders who can rotate back and forward. Our 3 rd world midfield is a result of Casey more interested in winning VFL games. Why has Strauss not been given a role in the centre of the ground. He has good size and skills, but the club has tried to fill the medium back flanker role. Why not play him as a defensive midfielder? Blease has been type casted as an outside winger/forward. Why not rotate him in through the middle using his pace to be offensive or be defensive. He didn't play this role at Casey. A perfect place to learn this craft. Rioli plays midfield at times why not Blease? Why has Tapscott played entirely as a forward flanker. Why not let him use his physicality in the centre square at Casey or Afl level? How do we know he can play this role? Taggert is a midfielder. When given a role in the middle he will produce a high possession game. Yet he is developed this year as a HFF. Why? Evans was recruited as a midfielder yet also played a HFF role at Casey too. Give him a go in the centre Magner, Couch and Rodan have ultimately hindered the development of others and contributed to our 3rd world midfield. I love watching Casey and love their success. But, we need our own VFL that is focused on the development of our players first and foremost. IMO our recruitment and our association with Casey is holding back our midfielders. Time the club develops midfielders first who can play forward or back.

Taggert needs a taste at AFL level. He may not deserve his place due to inconsistency at VFL level, but the season is shot and playing against a team mostly of his age (GWS) is a nice transition IMO. Fitzy maybe hampered by a knee injury. If the club is lkg to raise his trade value, drop him due to injury. He has proven some value already (what value is debatable) Taggert to take his place. If his knee is ok leave him in the seniors Strauss has shown some consistency at VFL recently and should be given games. Before he broke his leg he showed some talent at AFL level. It didn't happen with one game, it occurred after playing a few games in succession. Play him for the next 5 rounds. Barry needs a look at AFL at some stage in the next 5 rounds. Not sure if this week is his time tho. He has shown some impressive games recently with Casey. Players like Brynes, Pederson can give way. We know what they offer. Kent has had his time at AFL and a shot back at Casey getting more possessions may give him more confidence. Craig has resisted major changes since being head coach. Whilst its a great strategy as Neeld made at least 4 changes a week. It's time for Craig to incorporate experience to the young ones. It bodes well for pre season traing if they know the pace of AFL when training for 2014. 2013 is already a train wreck.

If he can't front round one and the club decides to pay him out, the fact remains that club would have to pay out his contract. The only other way out is a renegotiation with Mitch. An agreement of sorts, but he doesn't have negotiate anything if he choses, I'm of the opinion if he can't front round one, why not keep him in rehab until seasons end exhausting all avenues. We can't replace him come round one any way. There is more to this that your forgetting. To pay out his contract would mean it would come out of the salary cap. If the club is serious about free trade or the trade period they need to speak with dollars. By paying out Mitch may interfere with this. As I said, the point is many do not agree with you. No biggie. Keep trying to argue your point. You are obviously passionate about it. Just accept others do not agree. It's a flawed point of view IMO
-
Talk about accusing me dealing in 'what if's' then ending your argument with a 'what if'. What I do not understand is why he club should pay out his contract. Particularly during pre season. By paying him out (as you have suggested) in pre season means the club does this after trade and the draft. By cutting losses (again as you have suggested) at this time would mean the club is down one player on the list that can't be replaced Hhhhhmmmmmm!
