There seems to be a narrative change to this whole saga. The majority of AFL supporters and commentators were in Maynard’s corner over the weekend, to leaks coming out of the AFL community pushing the right agenda to suspend Maynard for many weeks. Other than Robbo, the comments and leaks are coming from respected AFL staff, coaches and commentators. if this story about Christian is true, he deserves to be sacrificed. I love the clubs performance in all this too. No ‘Vitriol’ and emotional statements. Just letting the AFL world Gus is “Not doing well”. Of course he is not doing well!

I too wanted Toby to be played ahead of others and be given a better go. But, the club gave him a good offer and he was not an untouchable. He made a good choice for himself. I’m happy for him to be playing regular good football. Finals footy even better.

It’s ridiculous!! Too many extreme views riding the week to week emotional wave (=wrist slashers). For example; Petty is not a forward, to drop him, he is out of form as a backman, to he is our most important Fwd and with him would playing in a Prelim. Smith is useless, always injured, to our most important swing man. Milkshake is past it, too old, to our second most important Fwd. Jefferson showing good signs with Casey (on the back of kicking a couple to a few goals), to his a twig, not going to make and a wasted 1 st round pick. I could go on.

You’re right CS. The club will do what is best for all parties. Recent history says the punitive route will not be part of anyone’s thinking.

The club have always tried to do its best by its players. It’s called being a club of choice. Long term reward for treating players well, and creating a culture within and outside the club. Keeping Grundy is a lose/lose situation for all involved.

If it’s a ‘Noooooo’ PF, who on the MFC list or on another clubs list, who ‘IS’ gettable, can fill a gap on our list? Assuming the reports Grundy is gawn, and that combo was a massive fail!

44 goals in 2022 does not equate to timid or lazy results. That stat is a very good outcome. I’m not sold, but I don’t see many other options to play a role Gawn and Grundy could not produce as a fwd/ruck option.
