Some thoughts in the relative inexperience of the team and list depth. Windsor, Kolt, Howes, Woey 2.0, Chandler, McVee, and JVR. All debuted playing at senior level in the last 2 seasons That is higher than 25% of the selected team. Chandler being the exception, from memory played 9 games mostly as a sub.

I still can’t see a miss other than Wied. There are always misses with late picks and you can’t pin that on JT. Jackson is a hit. He left and that is not on JT. Hulett and Kielty is not a sample size, as is Mitch Brown or Daw. They were back ups only, that came cheap.

@monoccular, I understand your emoji response to my post. What I love is Port’s vocal response to the ‘inconsistencies’ by the AFL on a different matter. Finally a club is pointing out the absolute consistent inconsistencies that transfers to too many areas in this great game. it’s killing my enjoyment of this game, and many others feel the same. Case in point. Maynard is now a premiership player and has ended our man Brayshaw’s career. Don’t give me the rules have changed [censored] and Kossie was wrong. My point is Kossie was rubbed out and graded for an act that never occurred. Maynard was rewarded for an act that DID OCCUR. Life just doesn’t work that way…. Simples, and too many other incidents to compare.

Thanks DD. My worry is Heywood is more of a mark and kick at goal fwd, rather than a ground ball player. Smacca is more dynamic and has different qualities, such as athletic and defensive qualities. Case in point is Kozzie. I’m not against Heywood, just not at a price that is too high. His strength and marking ability would be a ask us a better team. I agree more midfield depth and a KPB is a priority Stats and influence on a game are two different things.

The inconsistencies from the AFL does my head in. Making rules up as they occur (ie Maynard) makes me hate and no longer watch games other than my beloved Dees. This game is umpired inconsistently, adjudicated inconsistently and we as supporters are powerless. The clubs are powerless to speak up…… I get the upheld decision, but I can NEVER accept how Maynard, Barry Hall and too many other cases allowing players to play the following week. This institution is corrupt and inconsistent. Why does the club continue with Adrian Anderson Eeek.
