From afl website: Daniel Markworth Club: Calder Cannons Age: 19 Height: 189 cm Weight: 76 kg "Represented Vic Metro in one game at the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships as a 19-year-old in first year in the TAC Cup. He had an outstanding year with the Cannons, showing speed, clean hands and goal sense as a forward and creativity in the midfield." http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/123464/default.aspx

I don't know a heap, but as far as I can tell, this is his first year playing in the TAC Cup. Had a mate tell me he was worth watching, and then Hutchy kept throwing his name out. Kicked 34 goals switching between forward and the midfield.
-
Oh. Kosi, not Grimes. Oops. I thought he played less than 13 games this year, but "took your word for it"!
-
Surely not. Drafted in 2007, missed most of 1st season (2008) playing a game at the end, played more in 2009 and then more again in 2010, then 13 in 2011. So 2008: ~1 2009: ~15 2010: ~20 2011: 13 He definitely hasn't played that many seasons, atthe very least!

You sure that's correct?
-
No details to that end. Just that Beamer has been meeting with Hird at his house and that the clubs are talking about a trade. No details beyond that........... probably because of their limited imagination.
-
I considered that included in "coaching and advice", but yes, specifically that would be better than anything he'd get elsewhere.
-
I can't stop hoping we select this kid Daniel Markworth - really a high risk / high reward prospect, but I think he'll end up being more than worth pick 12. Seriously shades of Nathan Fyfe and Scott Pendlebury, although developing as a latecomer to the game. Here's a bit of a summary: Daniel Markworth (Midfielder/Forward) Height: 189cm Weight: 78kg DOB: 03/04/1992 Club: Calder Cannons Profile: Tennis / basketball background. Has made great strides in a short time as someone relatively new to the game. Played TAC cup in 2011 as an overage player. Great character. Flexible - played in midfield & as a leading forward. Super athlete. Very fast. Quick first step. Good footskills. Great decision-making.

Pretty sure they'd be aware of that and let him focus on his studies. The way I understand it, he'd play mostly school footy, but train with the club occasionally and play the odd VFL game provided he is up to it, exactly as Watts did in his first year. The real benefit is in the coaching and advice he'd get from the club.
-
I know this is ridiculous, but this is a rumours thread..........:.... My neanderthal Essendon supporting mates keep telling me Neeld is looking to trade Moloney and that Beamer has met with James Hird at his house about a possible move. I just laugh at it, but they are adamant and it keeps coming up.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Lutz replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some supporters are still stuck in that era. -
He's not that comfortable infront of the camera yet, but he's light years ahead of Moloney and Green! But he excels at being the club's beat writer, which is what he pretty much is. Burgatron is alright by me. I think we're lucky to have him.
-
I would pay to silently sit in the backseat and be a fly on the wall.
-
I think you're possibly missing the point. The purpose wouldn't really be to inform supporters. It's just another avenue through which to promote the club and it's message. And some people and media outlets will give more credence to a tweet supposedly by our coach, as opposed to our media manager.
-
Caracella is my tip. And I would also like Robbie Campbell to stick around as PT ruck coach. I doubt he'll get a new playing contract.
-
Speak of the devil..........
-
I like that he hasn't spent a lot of time telling us what he's going to do - he's just doing it. And he knows that in the end he will be judged by the results. Not his intentions.
-
"mindless" was purely the term used in the post I was replying to. Yes, we all have opinions. Mine is that if he doesn't want 1 year, he can have none. End of.
-
He was good enough for St Kilda. He was a bad fit for the backline, but we filled the role as best we could after Wellman left us in the lurch. Uneducated comment.
-
It's purely an assumption, but from that I assume that the quoted "8 FT coaches" does not include blokes like Dunbar, Viney or O'Donnell. Rather we will have a setup with a senior coach across all lines - centre, back and forward - and each of those wil have an assistant. If so, surely it is a proactive and innovative setup. In any case, I hope we get Gary Ayres as an assistant. Unless he has some issues with taking orders, I imagine he'll be highly sought after.
-
Are you sure? Judging by her reaction I'd say it was a surprisingly bad joke because they share the same surname.
-
Is he? I think he's better at the same age.
-
1 year max. He can walk if he wants. His time is up, but some mindlessly defend Green because they are too scared to face the reality that he is past his best, and is now nothing but an a very average player with poor leadership skills. But keep resorting to insults.

Clearly there was either a typo or he misread the S as an O, because he called him "I. O'Mith."
