2026 Possible Targets/Player Movement
I like him a lot. We need more though with Salem slowing down, losing McVee and I don't rate CJ as a long term prospect. Question mark on if Rivers will move into the midfield but his kicking is questionable at times. Lindsay is doing an apprenticeship in the back half and will move into the midfield in time, doesnt appear to be a natural defender. We're really missing Bowey at the momet. Another lockdown player that can hurt the opposition by foot will be worth their weight in gold.

2026 Possible Targets/Player Movement
Midfield - both A-grader and depth Key defender Small/medium lockdown defender. Humphrey the obvious most desirable player along with Butters. Low chance of the first, probably no chance of the second. James Leake as depth perhaps sitting just on the outer at GWS. I reckon Jesse Dattoli will be star and is behind a lot at the Swans. Currently more half forward but reckon he has mid potential. Jordan Butts would be a decent cheap option for key depth. Like the look of Xavier Ladbrook in the draft as an athletic tall defender. We need a Darcy Wilmot type defender. Doubt we can prise him out of the Lions. One player I liked in his draft year that was a competative defender with an excellent kick was Harrison Oliver from GWS. Hasnt cracked a game yet but think he's had injuries. Will be 3rs into the system next year.

NON-MFC: Round 5
Haven't watched the game but Faull didn't have a touch to half time and had currently has a solitary hand pass with 5 minutes to go. Meanwhile Shanahan kicks 4 for West Coast earlier today. Probably unfair to single a young key forward out but a lot of clubs missed out letting Shanahan slide.

At this early stage. Out: Salem (inj), Melksham (inj), T-Mac In: Rivers, Jefferson, Laurie Hopefully Rivers is fit. Windsor to the wing, Langford on ball. JvR to chop out in the ruck.- POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon

Do we need to start a fund raiser to get Salem a new draw string for his shorts? He's lost his dacks the last 3 games.- Harry Sharp
Next step for Sharp is to smarten up his inside 50 kicks. Often chooses the wrong option- GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon
When we make Tsatas look like a competent footballer you know we're playing poorly- GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon
We have so many tall defenders that Petty is spending half his time forward. Is this the set-up we really want? Going forward, when ready, one of him or McDonald go out and Kentfield/Jefferson play forward.- PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Change makes sense but poor Blinky "bubblo-o" bill(y) the kid.- PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
I'd like to see him have at least one more game, ideally a couple more, to see if he adjusts to the pace of AFL. His first full game in nearly 2 years against a top 2 team in a comp. Had 2 howlers but otherwise used it relatively well, the main howler being the one where he stopped, propped and shanked the inside 50 kick when accompanied by JvR on the half forward line. Was almost too sharp with his hands where the receiving player wasn't clean and that knock on that almost resulted in a goal was clever. Probably should have had that shot at goal as well when he received that hand pass at the top of the 50. I didn't think Sharp was going to turn out into the player he is becoming so I'm willing to give Laurie more of a chance and I think the kid needs confidence with a run of games. Having said that, he will need to improve considerably to cement himself in the side.- The Zak Butters Thread
Port look terrible and may finish bottom 4. Compo picks might be better than pick 18 + future late first rounders if he's off to Bulldogs. Still a lot to play out.- Joel Amartey – Unrestricted Free Agent 2026
- COACHES VOTES: Round 02
Not sure if we're doing a thread for each round, couldn't see one for round 3 or 4 yet on a quick search but mods feels free to move this post. Max got 10 votes against the Suns and now leads the Coaches Association award ahead of Bont and Butters. King and Hardwick also voted identically. 10: Gawn 8: Steele 6: Pickett 4: Sparrow 2: Melksham- PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
It would be nice to see Laurie get another run at it and get a chance to be accustomed to the speed of AFL. I thought he did some clever things from limited game time. However unless Melksham needs to be managed then he's clearly one of the first out for Fritsch should he be ready. Jefferson or Kentfield could also easily come in, I though Jefferson had a stronger game personally despite his wayward kicking. Do we drop one of our tall defenders as well? Or are we happy for Petty to play relief ruck and periods of the game forward of centre?- POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
How good was that, anyone else lost their voice tonight?- Deathriding Gold Coast 2026 - Sponsored by OnTrac5
And just like that 18 becomes 16... progress- POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
Thought Laurie did a few nice things for his first full game at AFL in nearly 2 years. Missed a couple targets like many did but wouldn't be opposed to him getting a few more games. Petty shifted forward a few times which says to me a key defender probably makes way for a Fritsch or Kentfield/Jeffo- CASEY: Rd 03 vs Box Hill
I only watched the first half and Jeffo was better then. More marks, score involvements and could have had a big day had he converted 2 relatively gettable shots. Kentfield I think only had 2 touches to half time but solid both marks inside 50 and converted. Going off stats it looks like kentfield got more or the ball in the second half and converted all his chances. Personally I think they compliment each other well.- CASEY: Rd 03 vs Box Hill
I'm all for him being nicknamed one of Batman, Bruce or Bruce Wayne. Thoughts @Ghostwriter?- GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
