We have so many tall defenders that Petty is spending half his time forward. Is this the set-up we really want? Going forward, when ready, one of him or McDonald go out and Kentfield/Jefferson play forward.

Change makes sense but poor Blinky "bubblo-o" bill(y) the kid.

I'd like to see him have at least one more game, ideally a couple more, to see if he adjusts to the pace of AFL. His first full game in nearly 2 years against a top 2 team in a comp. Had 2 howlers but otherwise used it relatively well, the main howler being the one where he stopped, propped and shanked the inside 50 kick when accompanied by JvR on the half forward line. Was almost too sharp with his hands where the receiving player wasn't clean and that knock on that almost resulted in a goal was clever. Probably should have had that shot at goal as well when he received that hand pass at the top of the 50. I didn't think Sharp was going to turn out into the player he is becoming so I'm willing to give Laurie more of a chance and I think the kid needs confidence with a run of games. Having said that, he will need to improve considerably to cement himself in the side.

Port look terrible and may finish bottom 4. Compo picks might be better than pick 18 + future late first rounders if he's off to Bulldogs. Still a lot to play out.

A key defender is probably a more pressing need unless one of Kentfield or Jefferson fails to develop

Not sure if we're doing a thread for each round, couldn't see one for round 3 or 4 yet on a quick search but mods feels free to move this post. It would be nice to see Laurie get another run at it and get a chance to be accustomed to the speed of AFL. I thought he did some clever things from limited game time. However unless Melksham needs to be managed then he's clearly one of the first out for Fritsch should he be ready. Jefferson or Kentfield could also easily come in, I though Jefferson had a stronger game personally despite his wayward kicking. Do we drop one of our tall defenders as well? Or are we happy for Petty to play relief ruck and periods of the game forward of centre?

How good was that, anyone else lost their voice tonight?

Thought Laurie did a few nice things for his first full game at AFL in nearly 2 years. Missed a couple targets like many did but wouldn't be opposed to him getting a few more games. Petty shifted forward a few times which says to me a key defender probably makes way for a Fritsch or Kentfield/Jeffo

I only watched the first half and Jeffo was better then. More marks, score involvements and could have had a big day had he converted 2 relatively gettable shots. Kentfield I think only had 2 touches to half time but solid both marks inside 50 and converted. Going off stats it looks like kentfield got more or the ball in the second half and converted all his chances. Personally I think they compliment each other well.

I'm all for him being nicknamed one of Batman, Bruce or Bruce Wayne. Thoughts @Ghostwriter?

I'm reasonably bullish on all of JvR, Kentfield and Jefferson forming a formidable trio in the future post Mihocek.

1/2 time... Heath, Henderson and Jefferson mfcs best. Jefferson would be half way to earning a promotion had he converted his chances. Should have 5 instead of 2. Sinnema doing some impressive things.
