Pretty comprehensive list there SONS. I like that we've been linked to Zane Cochrane, looked fantastic last year as a bottom ager and got going later in the year for oakleigh. Couple other names to look out for include Ben Kennedy, Patrick Said, Archie Caldow, Charlie Rozenes and Asher Eastham (could we go all gippy boys this draft?), I'm hoping Ough becomes a slider to our last selection but hard to see that happening.
-
It certainly is a fascinating draft. I wouldn't be surprised if we went tall with one of our picks but would be staggered if we went tall with two.

Cal has pretty much said Lalor and O'Sullivan are locked in for the first two picks. We will get one of Langford, Smith or Tauru. Anything else would be a surprise.

Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
Nascent replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Trade, Draft & Free Agency
Allegedly hasn't been invited to the first night of the draft though that in itself doesn't completely rule it out. -
How do we get him back in charge of the Bombers recruiting?
-
Draft picks: 5, 9, 79 (likely to use three selections) All of the Dees' work during the trade period was done in securing pick No.9 off the Bombers, giving Melbourne back-to-back years of two first-round selections. Clubs have gone to them with offers for pick No.9, but it's very hard to see them moving from their draft hand. After the early selections, the Demons will use one more national draft selection. They've shown some interest in Werribee mature-aged small forward Jack Henderson, who dominated this season averaging 22 disposals and booting 15.3, and the same for Oakeligh midfielder Zane Cochrane, Bendigo forward Archer Day-Wicks and speedy small Mitch Kirkwood-Scott. The Demons are also expected to grab NGA prospect Ricky Mentha jnr, most likely as a category B rookie consideration, while they can match a bid on intercept defender Riak Andrew, younger brother of Gold Coast's Mac. They will upgrade Judd McVee and Jake Melksham to the senior list.

6. Harvey Langford Langford started his season as a highly-rated player but went on to be have one of the most commanding seasons of any draftee this year, splitting games open for the Dandenong Stingrays on a weekly basis and winning the Larke Medal as the best player from the under-18 carnival for his Vic Country performances. He marks above his head, has a raking left-foot kick and boots goals. The Demons saw Langford's traits up close during the pre-season when he trained with the club and he has only flourished more and more since then. If not him? If Langford goes to the Crows the pick ahead, then Alix Tauru looks the next leading contender for the Melbourne pick. They will also be able to wait to see if one of the other premium midfielders slides through, albeit unlikely. 11. Bo Allan Allan is a man in demand and for good reason. His end to the season – on the field and off it – again highlighted to recruiters his potential value, having come back from injury to play in Peel Thunder's senior WAFL premiership and then blitz testing at the Draft Combine. He is a big, strong, tough, athletic midfielder who might start his career as a defender but can run all day, bustle through traffic and dominate around the ball. He is also considered a future leader, another appealing aspect for clubs considering him with early selections. Melbourne is right in the mix for Allan. If not him? There’s a chance Alix Tauru gets through to this point, at which point he would be expected to be taken. Otherwise, if not Allan here then Xavier Lindsay will be strongly considered, while Tobie Travaglia and Joe Berry are also likely in the mix. So either Langford or Tauru unless one of the mids slides out unexpectedly. Outside of Allan it's likely Lindsay, Travaglia or Berry unless Tauru is on the board. Been huge fan of Berry this year, would not be upset at all if we took him here and happy to see a link to him for the first time.

How's my boy Laurie doing? -
Would be ecstatic if we picked up Lalor
-
Tauru is a gun and will be very happy if we draft him. Particularly with our KPP needs. Along with Travaglia and Lalor he is one the most aggressive and competitive players in the pool. Puts added pressure on getting pick 9 right with a mid but we have one of the best in the league choosing so I'm comfortable whichever way it falls. Allan, Lindsay, Hynes, Berry, Reid at 9 with the potential for Smillie or Travaglia still on the board. Can't complain with any of those players.

Imagine if tigers shake things up with Smith at pick 1.
-
Freo too. May put us in a good position to deal with one of them.
-
Pick 5: Langford Split 9 and hopefully take Hynes and J Whitlock Or Pick 5 Tauru Split pick 9 and take Hynes and Hotton

The curse of pick 6 and why Leo Lombard must save us

I might be wrong here, but I believe that the deficit gets taken from the round in which a player gets bid on. I.e. a bid on Andrew in the 3rd round causing a deficit would result in our future 3rd pick being shifted back and wouldn't affect selections in other rounds. Not sure how the rule would apply if we didn't have a future 3rd though.

Good to hear. Also if he wants to bail on us at the end of next year and loves sunny Queensland we can trade him to Gold Coast for their 3 first round picks they own (Coll, PA, their own). They'll need to get rid of them anyway for Zeke Uwland. Said facetiously... sort of. -
Something like pick 6 and 23 for 5? Wonder if we'd consider that or just take Jagga ourselves. I'm not wedded to either player so can see the merit if the club can move our pick 79 into the early 20s.
-
Lol, so much for their "innovative" design

He used to post here @Yze_13. He's a very astute watcher of junior footy.

Pick 1: O'Sullivan (Rich) Pick 2: Draper (Adel) Pick 3: Langford (Carl) Pick 4: Tauru (North) Pick 5: Lalor (Melb) Pick 6: Smith (Rich) Pick 7: Smillie (Saints) Pick 8: Travaglia (Saints) Pick 9: Reid (Melb) Probably fantasy for Lalor to slip through to us but if Richmond go O'Sullivan or Smith at 1 then I wouldn't completely rule it out. Likely one of the other teams grab him and in that case I think Langford is the one that gets through to us. Pick 9 I'm still torn on and will chop and change up until the draft. Reid has composure, ball use and is an excellent decision maker. Something our midfield can certainly use. Other mids I like are Allan, Berry, Lindsay, Hotton and Hynes I also see an argument for going tall and wouldn't be upset to see one of Armstrong, Shanahan or J Whitlock taken here or if a pick split occurs. -
Still a lot of unknowns, perhaps Adelaide wants to get infront of Carlton to secure Draper? Carlton take O'Sullivan then Langford or Smith get through to us. I don't think we can go wrong with any of these players to be honest.
-
Sounds like there's a decent chance of O'Sullivan being available to us. Adelaide allegedly keen on Langford.
