WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN
Nascent replied to Little Richard's topic in Melbourne Demons
Officially a Demon today with the formality of the mini-draft selections taking place this afternoon. Welcome aboard Jesse. Suns, Dees secure 17-year-olds in GWS mini-draft -
I don't like the idea of shopping players around who have just re-signed. Great way to put players offside and I believe it would be detrimental to the culture we are trying to build.
-
If Rivers goes he will probably secure us a pick in the late 20's early 30's.... but that could very well be on-traded for more experienced players
-
And as he slots one through....... "Yeeeaaahh, thats how you kick a goal b*tch!"

O'Rourke or Wines for me. Not keen on using a high draft pick on a ruckman, particularly when we are still in such need of high quality midfielders. I always think of Carlton when its Ruckman vs Midfielder. Now Kruezer is no spud, but he looks like the retarded offspring of Uncle Fester and Amy Winehouse in comparison to Cotchin.

I look at it this way.... in any normal draft we would have had pick 3 and 26, one of which to be used on Viney. We now have pick 4 and 20 + Viney + Hogan + Barry. I'm happy. -
I am 100% certain we will recruit a midfielder with pick 4.

Talk of trading Gysberts seem to have died down lately. This pleases me.

One would assume St. Kilda would receive a 1st round compensation pick for Brendan Goddard. But now they aren't even in possession of a 1st round pick. One would assume that it wouldn't matter and they will still receive a pick after their ladder position pick i.e. pick 13. FA is certainly going to make things very messy for trade month as what you trade for may be of lesser value after the compo picks are delt out. Particularly as there is no clarity to what clubs may get in compensation. One would also assume that I used the phrase "one would assume" too many times in the one paragraph. One would assume.

Purely speculating but perhaps we are putting up pick 3 for MD 2 or it will go to the dogs in exchange for 5 & 6?

Gold Coast secure MD pick 1 trading ND pick 2 to GWS. Will select Jack Martin

I guess I can understand Melbourne's perspective on this one if it does go through. The MFC has repeatedly stated that they want to replace HWRALASKWWPABMWBGAAIBTHPPITGFSTWRITT100PASFHTPFTGUAGKOTDWAA2PDPTWFOTCHCERTU,OAINLHAAHHSH in terms of experience i.e. 3-4 seasons + AFL exposure. It's important to note that the reports suggest that we won't consider trading pick 4 if we have to use 3 on Viney. So everyone knows as compensation, we received 4 + 13*. In essence, if this trade goes through... our draft result including compensation for Scully will look like. Pick 3 - ND Pick 13* - ND Pick 26* - Viney Trade - Wellingham/Dawes While no compensation = Pick 3 + Pick 26* (one of which is used for Viney) I see how the first scenario could be enticing because; we have included 2 senior AFL experienced players that will improve our team, we are still gaining an extra selection in the first round with pick 13, and essentially we are nabbing two top 5 draft selections with pick 3 and Viney. The problem I have is that using pick 4 for those two players is ludicrous. To attest to that, Wellingham’s manager says West Coasts second or third pick would be sufficient compensation for Collingwood while Dawes is being shown the door to accommodate other players. *picks subject to change post FA allocated picks

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

I think what people are concerned about is that reports apparently suggested that we went to Collingwood with the offer of pick 4. -
Well if Buckley doesn't tickle your fancy then perhaps the prospect of Zomer returning to the fold will put a smile on your dial

I'd suggest that him having the least amount of views on an internet forum is a compliment, rightly or wrongly.

Which will then give rise to Billy Stretch threads for the next 2 years -
For those wanting trades done, locked away and sealed early on in the piece, you may very well be disappointed. Free agency ends on the 19th of October, therefore compensation picks won't be dished out until such time for the AFL to assess the net gains and losses of players. These compensation picks are sure to be used to secure deals. But as I write this, I have just thought of another issue that to my knowledge has not been addressed. For example, say next week we do a deal with the Suns for a straight swap with pick 13 (I said it’s just an example, settle down). We sign off, they sign off... everyone is happy. October 19th comes around and St Kilda has not gained any free agents, the AFL settles their compensation as a 1st round pick to be taken immediately after their pick 12 (thats pick 13 for those playing at home). Does that then push the now Suns pick back to 14 even though they had signed off to receive pick 13? I guess it must because I don't see any other way around it. Just another interesting thing to factor in. Another reason I guess that we will most likely see deals done in the final weeks so everyone knows where they stand and what is actually on offer.

But but... Jace Bode, and Dan Hughes.

I always had time for the ginger ninja... I wonder what Chris Johnson is up to these day, ha. Perhaps we could get a reunion happening.

I wanted to play... but now I just feel dirty.
