  1. I like your point re the extra concessions and the junket aspect of this venture . The AFL will keep throwing tens of millions to keep it alive - they're obsessed with the Sydney market . Membership figures and crowd numbers will probably be exaggerated .
  2. Yeah and Bruce's use of the word "Delicious" when describing Cyril Rioli - What's going on there ?
  3. Really hope we haven't seen the end of Wonna - he's still only 23 ( just turned ) Perhaps in a year or 2 he'll have another crack at it - and get himself picked up ( at least as a rookie ) . Reckon Clubs will have to look at more mature age players in the future . Especially with the talent pool spread over 18 teams .
  4. http://www.shutterst...tion-marks.html Colin remains a huge question mark . Leading teams technique or perhaps some disgruntled fans .
  5. Wasn't aware that you might lose Van Persie - he's contracted till 2013 yeah? Then again , if the player wants to go ............... That's why Champions league qualification is so important - it's going to be a great race to the finish line with so many Teams in contention .
  6. We might get some sort of "Ex Gratia Payment" in the future from the AFL . Wouldn't think it would be a draft pick for reasons you have outlined . Maybe another "Kind" draw in 2013 ? Anyway , a possible small win is that people are less inclined to say "You tanked for $cully so you got your just desserts" from here on in - The focus in a lot of people's eyes may be in "how" we lost him . Or at least we can "steer" people in that direction . The tanking jibes annoy me . So many other Clubs have done it and we are ( were ? ) the flavour of the month . Tanking in the AFL has happened at least a dozen times over the years - Pies in 2005 , Blues in 2006 and 2007 , Hawks in 2004 and 2005 - it's a long , grubby list .
  7. Have we just witnessed a "Watershed moment?"
  8. " There's not much in this , just a bit of push and shove , the players have nothing to worry about !"

Yeah , Philadelphia spanked the 'boys on SNF - Dallas just didn't turn up - disappointing game for the neutral fan , but you'd be happy ! As A Packers the fan it's the Giants and the Eagles that worry me the most though my team should have home field advantage this time . Can't see a wildcard coming out of this division so the Eagles are gonna have to win it . The Giants have a really tough run though and it's too early to discount Dallas completely , The Redskins will provide nuisance value . Whoever wins the NFC East will be dangerous in the playoffs you'd reckon . Cheers
  10. I heard Tony Shaw say "Rumour Mongrels" once .
  11. That is , of course , if you assume that our Club doesn't have a good working relationship with the AFL . It might seem that way , especially with the way they've structured some of the rules which might not suit our Club . Every issue is separate and should be dealt with in accordance to procedure . In the end , it's the AFL who adjudicate on any wrongdoing . My point was that we should at least let the AFL know that we're not happy re the $cully affair - this may help with future dealings . Going to the Media is fraught with danger - they may not take our side .
  12. Ha ha ! Yes , either that or perhaps he decided ( long ago ) to "Lay down the tools" Spose , being up on those roofs , you'd get quite good at "Spotting"
  13. Spot on , Whispering Jack . The reality is that sometimes you have to go into bat even though you know you probably won't win - A bit like making a contest at Centre Half Forward . However , I reckon that Cameron Schwab may have made a couple of discreet phone call to the AFL over the $cully affair - at least I hope he has . Nothing wrong with standing by your principles . All part of being proud , strong Demons who stand for something . Fair play should be one of those principles we stand for .
  14. Dunno , but there used to be a John Pilkington on our list in the early 70's - and he wore no.31 believe it or not - never played a game !
  15. Just watched Series 2 Episode 6 - it was on in the UK recently so ..................................... A brilliant episode and you will NEVER view Karl in the same way again . Can't give away any clues why .
  16. Yeah , good point , if you could get the player to agree to it . Fair solution that one "Deez" . Btw - you'd have to think that Colin is going to be out of pocket a fair bit re the whole accident .
  17. Yes , I thought of this as well but on checking found that 5k is the maximum fine that can be imposed ( CBA ) Stand to be corrected though .
  18. "And it's on ! " " The player's had better watch themselves !"
  19. It's no good blaming the umpires . "They're only human!"
  20. Other BrItish comedies - Pulling , Whites , Miranda and The Trip - all very different from each other .
  21. "He's a required player" ( weren't able to trade him ) "He needs to get more consistency into his game" ( he's happy to play 1 good game in 5 ) "Bruise free football" (_______)
  22. Yeah , as ya said - epic game ! I'm a Hammers fan myself but I like all the Big Premier League teams - esp when they are matched up against each other . If Arsenal can shore up their defence they will at least push for a Champions League spot - I'm liking Newcastle's season as well .
  23. Chelsea 3 Arsenal 5 - how about that for a game ! An absolute cracker ! Are the Gunners back in business ? Van Persie was superb !
  24. I did this once - but I had an ulterior motive !
