A Day at the Races
So here's how our trifecta is looking with 1 more pick to come from @binman Doomben Cup Race 8 ... W/2/3 Oregan's Day No.12 W/2/3 Tradesman No.10 W/2/3 Satono Rasen No.7 2/3 Comin' Through No.2 2/3 ???????? If BM doesn't get back here in time we can either slot in our own choice or if someone is confident with the 5th choice then go for it. We should wait a bit though.

A Day at the Races
We've also gone with the Swans 1-39 and the Saints +25.5. Waratahs 1-12 rounds out the 3 pick at about 15-1. I'll probably multi the 3 picks with Noire and/or Rich Charm.

A Day at the Races
Wrong race Wadda - I've had a first4 in the Goodwood all the same. I've marked Voodoo Lad & Vega Magic on top but Viddora and a few others can win the race if they get a decent run
-
A Day at the Races
And my best bet is ... Rosehill Race 9 No.2 Noire $3.30 Trained by Waller and also, the Sky Thoroughbred crew like its chances as well. The 3 adds up to about 22-1 combined in a multi.

A Day at the Races
Nice going there Wadda ... hope you get it. Waiting on the others with their sporting best bets but I'm giving the Waratahs another chance at home against strong opposition. Tahs (1-12) over the Highlanders $3.75

A Day at the Races
So do they win out of turn Wadda? It seems that way sometimes. I reckon a lot of my best bets have won their next races rather than the one I nominated them for ?
-
A Day at the Races
It is a 400m - 500m straight dash from the barriers to the turn at Morphettville but even though Vega Magic is a fast starter it still may be caught wide with so many decent sprinters in the race. The race is a bit of a lottery to be perfectly honest but Voodoo Lad has real claims.
-
A Day at the Races
I could find quite a few that can get into the finish in the race but no standout winners ... but that's just me. It is more like a Group 2 race in that sense. The 3 we've nominated all have claims though Wadda. The Goodwood race is all the more harder to figure out. I'm not sold on Vega Magic yet it is JJ's best bet.

A Day at the Races
Satono Rasen is my pick but not with any confidence ... this race has 'Box5' written all over it. The good news is that it could well be a healthy dividend. So it is back to you to finish things off BM ... good luck.

A Day at the Races
Looks like the Doomben Cup it is then DZ ... and it's over to you to kick things off! Good luck!

A Day at the Races
We're due for a change of order for the trifecta combo as well. How does this look - we all rotate one spot and we go with the new order for 4 weeks (?) W/2/3 - Dee Zephyr W/2/3 - Wadda We Sing W/2/3 - Macca 2/3 - binman 2/3 - binman

A Day at the Races
Yep ... the Doomben Cup seems an easier proposition all things considered.

A Day at the Races
@Wadda We Sing @Dee Zephyr @binman Found 3 races this weekend that are likely candidates for our combined trifecta - amongst them the 'Roma Cup' from Ascot that has a quality field from the mostly local WA horses. The G1 Goodwood has a field of 20 comprising a number of crack sprinters whilst the G1 Doomben Cup has some classy runners as well. At this time of year I'll restrict my betting to these 3 races only but more so 2-5-5-5 First4's. A small outlay to hopefully win big ? Doomben Cup G1 WFA 2000m $650k The Goodwood G1 SW+P 1200m $1Million Roma Cup G3 WFA 1200m $150k

A Day at the Races
Ended up slightly in front for the day landing 2 doubles but it could have been a real bumper day - Demons winning easily was a good end to proceedings though. The dividends in the Doomben 10000 were quite remarkable when factoring in the quality of horses that got into the finish. All it needed was for the 2 favoured horses to finish out of the top 3. But English, Impending & Le Romain are all class gallopers.

A Day at the Races
Box the 5 and you got it ... I did everything but. Ugh!! You got the winner and 2nd DZ ... the first 4 paid in excess of 2k with our selections (if boxed)

A Day at the Races
I posted up JJ's best bet (Tequila Time) as well as Sky Thoroughbreds best bet last night (Moss Trip) Half way down on the previous page ... golden rule here Wadda - scroll back! ?

Moss trip as well here!

A Day at the Races
Yep, Le Remain was a head off running a track record at its last run - albeit over 1400m. However, as you said, that's a good form line in terms of finishing speed and it can get a good position in this race as well (it should settle just behind 'In Her Time' in the running if the speed maps are accurate) So it's over to @Dee Zephyr to finish off the combo.
-
A Day at the Races
In the end I decided on Darren Weir's horse 'Leicester' in the SA Derby as my best bet. Morphettville Race 7 No.3 ($4.60) ... it is also paying $1.90 the place. I believe it has drawn well enough to get a good run in the race and it does finish off its races well. And its main rivals have drawn wide or are drawn outside of it. I had it marked on top when I put together a trifecta in the race.
-
A Day at the Races
Yep ... Redzel has to be included Wadda so I'll take 'In Her Time' as the 2nd choice winner. Like Redzel, In Her Time should get into a decent settling position in front of a number of other fancied runners. Good closing speed should get her into the finish. So it's over to @binman to come up with the 3rd choice winner. Lots of value after the first 2 as well. And it's obviously a better dividend with the value runner saluting. No pressure though BM! ?

A Day at the Races
The trainer of 'Houtzen' mentioned this morning on RSN that the horse won't be ridden forward and would be ridden for luck. No doubt because of the wide gate. It's a 350 metre dash to that big long turn at Doomben so the settling positions of the horses are all important - those leading can scoot away entering the 350 metre long straight so if there's any inside bias, it could be a leaders track. A few of the more fancied runners might be coming from a fair way back. A good field though. And Darren Weir was a little circumspect about the 2500m with Leicester but the same could be said for a number of the other horses in the race. Tough race to find the right trifecta combo, all the same. As you said DZ, let's get the 2 wins!

A Day at the Races
Well, the Doomben 10,000 it is then gentlemen ... over to you @Wadda We Sing for the first tip. Got a half-decent percentage of the First4 in the Scone Cup today ... those speed maps, settling positions and finishing speeds on racenet.com came in real handy. Would have got the first5 if there was such a thing! Whilst I'm here, I may as well post up the best bets from the experts ... however, Gator's tip might be a bit of a risk after all the rain we've had but I'll post it up anyway. The treble might be worth a fiver - you never know. James Jordan (JJ) - Morphettville Race 4 No.1 Tequila Time $4.40 Sky Thoroughbred - Scone Race 4 No.8 Moss Trip $3.40 Gator (Racing.com) - Caulfield Race 3 No.1 Amovatio $5.50 The 'Get On' crew are split between 'Main Stage' & 'Leicester' in the SA Derby. They had a good chat about the Doomben 10000 as well but I'll leave that evaluation aside and let you fellas break it all down. After Wadda and myself have our picks it's then over to @binman and then @Dee Zephyr @Dee Zephyr @binman

A Day at the Races
I agree DZ ... the Doomben 10000 would be my choice. I also prefer to limit these trifecta combined efforts to the Group 1 races only. That is generally how I operate. That would take us to late June and then we could start up again in early September. Just a thought.
