As is my custom, I've reloaded with those best bets that are still alive and have thrown in a couple of other head-to-head clashes that will be decided overnight. Just a very small outlay and 5 picks only.

Here is Winx winning today ... 26 in a row with the large majority of those wins being of Group 1 status. What a champion racehorse. The best in the World.

And Egyptian Symbol ridden a treat by Tim Clark ... in classic style takes the lead, slows them down, kicks clear then hangs on. A bit like the Zephyr in its last race ?

Money for jam Wadda ... that's 3 collects from 3 for me from our best bets so far (got the trifecta in the Oohood race even though it didn't run a place) What a marvelous idea! Le Romain is a gun WFA horse. Group 1 standard, no doubt. Carrying weight in these sprint races is overstated for the Champs.

Gutsy win. I thought they'd go past her but she fought really really hard to the line. Got to see the sectionals and last 600m but it's a good horse. 01:04.30 is certainly quick enough for the 1100m with that standard of field. As an aside, how good is Nature Strip?

And up in Sydney the weather is much the same But the Mighty Mare Winx wins again - what an absolute champion!

I reckon Oohood needed the run ... first up is always tricky as we don't know how far forward the trainer has the horse. In the early spring races I much prefer trifectas so as keep it safe if my preferred runner isn't quite ready. Oohood normally has a bit more closing speed but it took a while for the horse to get going today. I'm hoping that Sunlight ar least races on the speed for the same sort of reasoning. Streets of Avalon wins again ... should have followed up but I've had a couple of other collects so can't complain ?

Class and a high rating wins out again with La Bella Diosa ... of course, I wasn't on it but the gap in rating to the rest should have been a big pointer even over the shorter distance. And the Hayes factor.

I didn't even notice that until after I posted it up ... I suppose if one could find another $1.80 - $1.90 chance then the 380-1 is relevant. I've just gone with 5 of the picks anyway Wadda ... reasonably confident with the 5 though. If they paid out on getting all bar 1 in a multi I'd be a squillionaire by now ?

I got 60-1 with the odds boost Wadda ... worth a small outlay as they are top-notch horses with good chances to win. I've got all 4 in either a win only bet or as a leading trifecta chance - and that was before any of the 4 were put forward as best bets here. Win or lose we'll at least get a run for our money class-wise. That might be the theme here during the Spring too - the good horses are back. Should be a terrific days racing and lets hope we all get some decent collects as well as a win tomorrow for the mighty Demons. Good luck to all !

The Eagles sit where we sit ... average/above average and sometimes quite good. The same argument could be put forward for another 8 sides. There are no great teams although the Tigers are playing like a great team but I still see them as quite beatable. We've got a great opportunity to beat a team who are where we are ... they are not a great team and Goodwin will be pressing that point home. We have to start well and out-muscle them out of the middle - play to our strengths. It's do-able.

As long as the "keepings-off" bit works as a consequence. Let's face it, the sport is now about creating a stoppage, winning the stoppage, controlling possession and then a having a shot at goal. Controlling the possession is not our strength but invariably it is a strength. Turn the ball over and lose and you'll see a change of personnel. In Goodwin's team, a player can't run past a contest or turn the ball over as a primary weakness. But if you're not great, you have to play blokes who aren't that good.

Not disagreeing, just adding ... Spargo had to play once the decision was made on Garlett & JKH. He is 'it' now and again, why not put some pressure on the lad. Spargo will know it too - there's nothing like absolute transparency. I'm a Goodwin fan and I can see where he's taking us. He's old school and when the heat gets applied, that is how he coaches. The plan is "here it is, you carry it out. I can't do it for you." It's simple, it's basic, but it can work. The game will be won out of the middle (clearances, stoppages) and that is our strength. We win and we put the whole thing to bed.

Looks a good team even without Hogan ... we absolutely need the Weid to stand up and be a presence so Tommy can shine. He just needs to play in front with multiple leads, compete hard and fight for possession. In the corridor through the hot-spot where the heat is. If the ball falls to ground our crumbers can capitalize from goal-scoring range. The rest of the line-up is quite capable of delivering the chocolates ... 5 changes sends a rocket so the team is therefore on notice. And there's nothing wrong with that from time to time. I'd like to say I'm confident but if we do win, we're playing finals. A fantastic incentive in my book.

Quick change of tack ... is Foles ok? Grabbed at his upper arm as if it was a bicep knock (corkie?) but they are saying strained shoulder. Wentz isn't ready for week 1 apparently so you'd be hoping Foles will suit-up.

I haven't but thanks for reminding me about it layz Seen most of the 30 for 30 NFL Doco's and they are all good ... This was the XFL, Elway to Marino, Four Falls of Buffalo, The '85 Bears, Year of the Scab (not seen) & The Two Bills. Occasionally they will appear on youtube for a short period of time but ESPN will also show them from time to time. Here's a 4 minute promo of 'Year of the Scab' which was released late last year.

Well if it does happen you heard it here first Dappa ... we will know in about 10 years. Speak to you then! ha ha So ... we all just have to win our divisions and that means we generally have to go at least 4 & 2 within the division for starters yeah? It is like there are 8 leagues within the league ... proof of that is that we rarely chat about the AFC North or the AFC East in terms of the competition within those divisions. We now have a Jags fan represented here ( @Clintosaurus ) so the AFC South becomes relevant and previously there has been some Broncos support from the AFC West. We need a Pats fan here to spice things up a bit!

My view is that you have to win your division. So you really only have to get in front of 3 other teams. Sounds odd but that is the reality Your divisikn is tough but a lot can change within the space of a year particularly in regards to the QB pisition.
