Ha ha! The 3 picks have to be road teams layz Not to worry, you could outright hit the front next week as week 7 is worth 2 points.

A Day at the Races
Yep ... I made mention of Too Darn Hot as it has gained a lot of attention over in the UK. Trained by John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettori it is destined for big things. Dettori especially was mighty impressed with the way it won that UK 2yo classic (Dewhurst Stakes) And the way things are going with the overseas representation, we may even see the horse here as a lightweight 3yo chance in the Caulfield Cup or Cox Plate. Long range call of course but it does look like a real standout BM. The trainer mentioned that 2400m might be the horses limit but the mile or the mile and a quarter was it's ideal distance. I reckon the Cox Plate (post Winx) will almost certainly become an international affair much like the Caulfield & Melbourne Cup's are fast becoming. Money talks. And if the mooted move to relocate the Championships at Randwick to late November does eventuate, the $4Million Queen Elizabeth Stakes becomes the 5th huge attraction in the Spring. NSW want a piece of the action as witnessed with success of the Everest. And with the Internationals the punters need to trust the Globally recognised ratings and if those horses have performed well at Group level, that needs to be taken into account as well. I got 2 decent collects on Saturday by simply recognising overseas form & the ratings of those overseas horses. Just missed on the Yucatan race by not including 'A Prince of Arron' in the exotics. Kicking myself on that one ?

The Soccer thread
Big win for the Dutch this morning over Germany ... I believe the win is a historic win in terms of how long it's been or suchlike. Highlights ...

I reckon we'll get better at it too Wadda ... the team aspect and the transparency is a factor much like it is with the horses. Except with sporting events it's a 2-horse race - pun intended. And if we ever start another thread we already know what we're going to call it. It would have been a terrific title for another Marx Bros. movie. *Cartwheels in Copenhagen*

Yeah ... it is probably the go Wadda (slow burn) although I have had a few collects over a shorter time span. What the slow burn does do is give the option of cashing-out or alternatively, one can take a shorter time-span smaller multi within the bigger multi such as what I did. We're not talking big stakes here but the payoff can be really good ... my strategy might be that the 1st pick out of my 2 could be more of a 'sure-thing' and for that pick to be decided earlier than the 'spec' later pick. I valued my 2 picks over this weekend as equal this time, all the same. Just my thoughts moving forward.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If Jesse ends up staying it will be business as usual and he and the club will move on and get on with it. If he wants that next big long term contract wherever that might be, he'll need to perform whenever he sets foot on the ground. I can easily deal with either outcome. Like it or not, players are now commodities and commodities can be sold off or kept as assets. Either/or. No emotion, no drama, no attachment - sell or keep. Like it is with numerous individuals in sport the World over. Loyalty is a 2-way street. So it might be time for a few to take some old-school chill pills ...

A Day at the Races
Here are the other 3 replays from yesterday including one from Newmarket (UK) raced last night ... the winner of the Dewhurst Stakes (Too Darn Hot) is set for a Guineas & Derby career over there. Definitely one to watch.

A Day at the Races
Benbatl ran just 0.46 seconds outside the 2000m track record at Caulfield yesterday carrying 59kgs at WFA level. Winx at her best should win the Cox Plate but she's got some real competition. And 'Blair House' only got beaten by Benbatl by a nose yesterday so it has real claims as well. Humidor which lost out to Winx by only half a length in last year's Cox Plate was 2.5 lengths behind Benbatl & Blair House yesterday. It is going to be one hell of a race. As for the Caulfield Cup & Melbourne Cup and even the Moonee Valley Cup, Geelong Cup & the Hotham Hcp your guess is as good as mine. There are a few locals with real claims but the overseas contingent are sure to feature including 'Yucatan' from yesterday which was very impressive.

And the notion of a combined multi is starting to serve a good purpose ... we've got a couple of days to wait Wadda but that anticipation feels good knowing that we haven't risked much and we have the cash-out option as well. And for what it's worth, the last time I won a very good amount involved a MNF NFL game so there's another omen. Well done Norway and well picked @Dee Zephyr

A Day at the Races
@Diamond_Jim ... here's a link (below) to the Pegasus race meeting. There has been some talk that the Everest could have the same sort of issues especially if the slot-holders keep making losses without a line-up of ready-made replacements. It should be noted that a $7Million turf race has been added to the Pegasus card and that the organisers of the event were pursuing Winx to run in the new race. Meanwhile, the Everest is set to have prize money of $15Million next year. Should they just give the race to Redzel now? ha ha Anyway, here's the link ... Pegasus World Cup

Actually I got that wrong ... I need Spain to win in that 4pick as well. Just had a look at the cash-out offer and realised I've only got 2 of the 4 legs up ... and Spain don't play England until Tuesday so the bets are a bit of a slow-burn hey DZ. Anyway, if our bets are all still alive by Tuesday we'll be barracking against England - and then later on barracking for the Packers. That's gotta be tough for a Bears fan ?

A Day at the Races
The Autumn Sun - Awesome! Cox Plate next? Carrying 49kgs you'd reckon it's a no-brainer. It's only an extra 400m and the horse looks like it can cover extra ground quite easily. And Winx needs some competition!
-
A Day at the Races
I don't think so ... the connections have starting taking a more open-minded stance and I read that as they will go on with the horse. The Queen Elizabeth Stakes is worth $4Million next Autumn and Winx will still only be a 7yo then. I wouldn't even rule out another Spring campaign. The money is way too good to retire a horse too early ... Rupert Legh is now talking about taking an 8yo Chautauqua to the USA. And why not?
-
A Day at the Races
The overseas form for the staying races just can't be ignored but I'm taking full notice - snagged a reasonable percentage of the trifecta in the Caulfield Stakes and that dividend was way overs if the true form was taken into account. Winx might not have it all her own way in Cox Plate - Benbatl is a serious racehorse.

A Day at the Races
The Pegasus has been de-valued down to around about the $8Million mark DJ ... stand corrected on that one but I'll find out for sure later.
-
A Day at the Races
Redzel just way too good (again) in the Everest. Trapeze Artist & Le Romain boxed on well but the 3rd placegetter Osborne Bulls ran a terrific race racing down the Grandstand side. Really smart ride and picks up $1.2Million for the connections and in turn boosts up the exotic dividends. Ist & 2nd were no-brainers in hindsight but I wouldn't have had Osborne Bulls anyway. Over 10k for the First4. That's decent.
-
A Day at the Races
But if you can snag the tri or F4 at least you know it will be a healthy dividend DJ. With the heavy track a few can be kinda ruled out but who knows? Le Romain's heavy track form is excellent and I'm having a go at the boosted odds of 15-1. It's best form is very good anyway.
