I must admit, I'm bamboozled by all this expected score nonsense. As I understand it, the metric measures the score both teams would have achieved - if the league's averages for goal kicking capability were to be applied. In other words, it's a measure of what would have happened if the team was average? Is that correct - or am I missing something?
