  1. I agree. There are lots of whispers and feelers put out by clubs this time of year and we all know that 90% won't happen, but it doesn't mean discussions aren't taking place. I enjoy reading about the scenarios being mooted. If you don't like it don't come on to the effing thread.
  2. Pick 19 >>>> Pick 19 + Bell
  3. I think that some supporters that rate themselves as reasonably clued up when it comes to footy can go the other way and overly denigrate a player from an opposing side. I think Prismall is far better than some on here are suggesting and would be a good pick up. I agree that our good picks are off limits.
  4. Rubbish. They've been building this side of their game ever since the line in the sand game against Essendon a few years ago when Brereton fired them up in the rooms at half time. Vandenberg was a dud but he instilled this ethos as captain. Clarkson is a tough bugger as is Hardwicke. Viney is another part of the puzzle, but you do the others a disservice to give him the bulk of the credit.
  5. Perhaps he was taking the pizz out of a perceived nuff nuff supporter.
  6. You really are a [censored], Trag. Anyway, go look at what your former buddies have to say on the Freo and West Coast forums about Rich, Yarran, and Naitanui. They are being unmercifully caned for their performances in the WAFL GF today. Rich - a disappointing spectating seagull who hangs out the back and gets little of the ball, despite his impressive physique Yarran - a lazy undedicated footballer Naitanui - severely lacks basic footy smarts and doesn't get involved enough Enjoy the read.
  7. read: you haven't seen him at all. You asked the question and got the answer. I've seen him live a few times and naturally watched him very closely. I understand that you don't like what you hear, but there's not much point me arguing with someone who confesses that they don't know the subject first hand and are relying on unsubstantiated heresay. In other words, you've no clue. Quite strange, really.
  8. I don't agree with your assertions. And yes, I want him. He's the class player of the draft. Anyway, we will all know in the fullness of time. But anybody that makes those assertions about a skinny kid that was 16 six months ago does him a disservice. That said, I've seen him live 3 times and I don't share those views. I've seen him put his body on the line and make tackles. He will be a fabulous footballer. But go on. Knock yourself out trying to put down a young talent that the best recruiters rate highly. I'm sure you'll be vindicated.
  9. Maybe not, but it's drying.
  10. I'd leave it. It works.
  11. Dunn - If you'd told me 4 years ago that our 192cm first round draft pick would be yet to cement a spot in the 22 towards the end of his 4th year and that he'd been turned into a tagger in an effort to find a position for him, then I would've been disappointed. I still am. Whilst he's had a modicum of success in a negating role he doesn't find much of the footy himself, doesn't excel with disposal, doesn't have any real pace, doesn't have elite midfielder skills, in fact he just doesn't have any real tricks that will turn him into a damaging long term AFL player. He was dropped after the GABBA game and I suspect that there are concerns amongst the Footy Dept. If he doesn't make it it won't be for a lack of trying, as he's very dedicated. I'm not a fan. But because he wears red and blue there will always be those that see upside. If we have aspirations of developing a premiership side then players the calibre of Dunn aren't part of the journey longterm. But we tend to keep mediocrity for way too long down at the Dees so expect him to be there for some time to come.
  12. Mate, take your North bias elsewhere.
  13. I don't get excited by objects that are no longer useful, although I acknowledge that there are degrees of uselessness. A tool that's useless isn't worth more than a tool that's marginally better, but still incapable of efficiently performing the task at hand. They are either capable of performing the function requested of them, or they're not. I don't know much about Bentley, so I can't comment, but I do know our tool. And it's passed its used by date. Even if it's been used more often. Could our tool be sold or traded ? Possibly, if the buyer is unsuspecting. But don't expect much. Farren Ray has been linked to his home state of W.A. I don't think that we're a chance to relocate there.
  14. I didn't think Bell was better than anyone. This Bentley guy must be the pits. Or, you're wrong. Wonder which one it is.
  15. I agree. Have merged threads for the 90% inane banter and allow a new one for any compelling new turn of events. Having said that, I suppose that any new thread will just get clogged up with the same inane banter and speculation. There's probably no way around it when many post just for the sake of posting.
  16. It was pick 15. Dunn. Great, hey ?
  17. Pick 11 for Bruce and White = pick 11 for Bruce. Not in this draft. They're not that stupid.
  18. So Green or Sylvia will yield pick 6 ? And Freo lose Warnock to gain 2 places in the draft ? Fail.
  19. I too like Jarrad Redden. I reckon he'll develop into a good ruckman. I saw him play on Naitanui at Casey Filelds and I liked the look of him. He moves well and is coordinated for a beanpole. Plenty of upside. 1. Watts 17. Zaharakis 19. Walters 35. Hannebery 51. Redden I'd be very happy with these selections, but having seen quite a few games live it was evident that there are a number of good kids this year. Many that you've mentioned.
  20. Unless Freo and the Dees collude.
  21. So if his former coach in Connolly is prepared to deal then I assume you think that he's either stupid, doesn't have the Club's best interests at heart, or is a horribly poor judge of talent.
  22. Johnstone seems popular on the forums but I'm not a fan. He has agility and can take a mark but his skills are very ordinary. We have enough of those on the list already. I like the other two.
  23. It's hard to have a valued opinion unless you've seen the subjects live. And often. But thanks for your contribution.
  24. You may have missed this post. It might help you. Below is a possibly biased synopsis from a Freo supporter. Fwiw, I agree with him and believe that we must do all that we can to secure his services. I'd give pick 19 to get the deal done. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FREO guy vvvv Most clubs had doubts over an anorexic looking 204cm player ever making it to the required physical level. Turns out he was eating like a horse and was at the end of a recent growth spurt. The thing Fremantle liked about him was his excellent endurance. Was elite amongst potential draftee's and beat many players smaller than him. Beep test from memory was 13.1. Came to the club and put on 10kg over 1 preseason. Started in the WAFL reserves and was clearly too classy and found himself in the senior side after a handful of games. Was way ahead of development. The club had signed him on a 3 year contact from the start given where he was starting. By the end of his debut season he was a regular at WAFL level. Still looked skinny as a rake. Preason 2, manages to put on another 10kg. Now into the high 80's. Still looked skinny but started to dominate in the WAFL. Justin Longmuir retired after 1 game in the 2007 season. Warnock got his chance mid way through the season with some stella form in the WAFL. Subsequently Sandilands goes down with injury and Warnock is left to lead the ruck in his 2nd season at the club. (refer back to that picture again). Surprisingly he does exceptionally well. In games where Cox was meant to dominate, Warnock is clearing the ball and gathering possessions. He has his best game for season 2007 against Carlton. 16 possessions and 16 hitouts. His most impressive stuff is when he chases down midfielders who try and go around him laying some big tackles. Very fast off the mark. Also he has more finesse than Sandilands in the tap work. Fremantle fans get overexcited and start claiming it'll be hard for Sandilands to get back the lead ruck. Preseason 08 rolls around. He hurts his lower back. Gets games at the beginning of the year when he wasn't ready. Performs poorly and is dropped. He is now playing WAFL at West Perth. Mark Seaby, Kepler Bradley and Adam Campbell all playing their. So at best he's getting 50% time in the ruck, sharing the duties with Mark Seaby. This when all the rumours of him leaving start. Eventually finds form and is brought back to the senior team. Does well in combination with Sandilands and eventually hurts his shoulder. His season ends early for surgery. Here we are. He's grown 2cm taller, he's now 206cm. Weighs in the mid 90's but is still shy of a mature body. Probably needs to shade a 100kg before he could bang bodies regularly with the top rucks. He's got the same armspan as Sandilands and a pretty good leap. From the last 5 drafts how many ruckman would be classed better than Warnock: 2007 draft: Kreuzer 2006 draft: Leuenberger 2005 draft: ??? 2004 draft: Ivan Maric (only recently hit form) 2003 draft: ????
