  1. Disagree. We are not miles off the competition for skill at all. Assume you didn’t watch any other games this weekend. Even with the good draw we still finished second. Yes, today Brisbane were too solid, well drilled and experienced for us but we are a much younger team and had a few key outs to players we just can’t afford to lose. Majority of their team have been playing together for years. Large chunk of our team are only playing their first or second season and still learning the ropes and requirements of footy at the top level. At our best I really think we can compete with every team in it, North included. Challenge is to perform at that level for four quarters and respond when the best teams lift. Our girls are not the finished product yet. Their midfield was too deep for ours today and just ran over us. They stuck their tackles and were just too good for us in the end. But no way are we miles off the pace of the competition in terms of skill. I watched all four finals and our game was the best by a mile. It would be great in terms of development if we could topple the Crows next week and then have a crack at North. Win or lose, with continued good recruiting, I am really optimistic the Club is setting this team up for sustained success over the coming years. Go Dees!!!!
  2. Yes my view is it will most likely reward mediocrity. Clearly a $$$$ driven decision. Who knows, might be ok but would not like to see a team with a negative win-loss record suddenly qualify for finals. On a side note, reckon it’s pretty disappointing of the journalists to decide to release this during two of the women’s finals (AFL leaked I imagine). They deserved some clear air and not have all the talk for the next few days to be on the men’s wildcard round.
  3. We have a much younger side overall and it showed a bit today. They will be much better for experiencing a hard finals game and with continued smart recruiting, especially with running mids, I’m very optimistic for our future. Put Chaplin, Purcell, Zanker and Goldie in today and may have been quite different.
  4. Bingo!!! Frightening how many of our tackles have been run through.
  5. Will be interesting to see if either Trac or Clayton post a farewell message on social media to the Demon Army and supporters in general. Haven’t seen anything as yet. Would like to think Trac still has some love and appreciation for our club and supporters somewhere deep inside him. Might be a bit harder for Clayton in view of how things unfolded for him over the past couple of weeks. Even so, would be surprising and disappointing if at least the Demon Army don’t get some kind of acknowledgement from them, especially as they will always be such an important part of the 2021 flag.
  6. What am I meant to do now with my Trac (wearing his Norm Smith medal) and Clarry bobble heads from the 2021 flag? I also have Max and Kozzie all still in their boxes. Four years ago if I knew two of these would no longer be with us now, would have bet on Kozzie and perhaps an old and injured Max. Would never have thought Trac and Clarry would be the two to go. Oh the pain. The pain. Then again maybe I am just a bobble headed booby for buying them in the first place.
  7. Noooooo! Surely not.
  8. He was coming back from an injury last season and was coming from a fair way back. Exciting player at his best.
  9. Completely agree we need quality players before draft picks but that will most likely prove difficult as we are probably not currently viewed positively I would suggest. Just saying that the draft is not a complete write off if we are forced down this path though first round is where we would need to be. Of course there is always the option of keeping Trac (and Oliver I guess) but not sure this is plausible now or what the Club would want.
  10. I believe it’s more that the depth isn’t there and falls away quite a bit after the first round or so. Still some quality at the top end. We should be ok if we get 2 picks inside say top 15-20 but have to get them right.
  11. TM on nine news live from Pies B&F said looks like Troy Chaplin off to the Pies as an Assistant Coach
  12. Assuming the move to the Suns goes through, guarantee the AFL schedules a home game at the MCG against them next season. Could be a very hard watch, especially if we get smacked and Trac kicks a few. Pretty sad actually. He would let the members know all about it too I reckon which will be “testing” for supporters to say the least. I don’t personally boo players but geez the lad is guaranteed to receive a HELL of a reception from the Demon crowd.
  13. Sadly it most certainly officially shut!!!
  14. Just the thought of it makes me feel seriously ill.
  15. Haha and a Snoop extravaganza still to come.
  16. Would love Trac to stay so long as he is 100% on board and his passion for the club is still inside him somewhere. Only he knows this for sure. Just the body language on occasions last year did raise doubts with me if he is all in. Fine line between showing disappointment and sulking.
  17. Happy with the appointment. Glad we have gone with a hungry experienced assistant. Reports are he is a great people person which is good. Hope he is also tactically innovative and has a touch of ruthlessness, can make us more unpredictable and hold all players accountable. The downside might be yet another period of transition to a new game plan. Hopefully the players buy in straight away and get hold of it quickly. Don’t want another 0-5 start. Looking forward to watching our post match press conferences again too after a 12 month hiatus and I am expecting them to be “learnings” free zones. Hoping he tells it as it is and uses some expression and emotion. We’ll see. Go Dees!
  18. “Shoddy process” says SM. Tossa makes my blood boil. Shoddy journalist in my book.
  19. Sadly the media are all about clicks now and having a different opinion to the masses. Take his remarks with a grain of salt. The fact we are now posting about his ordinary take on things would be exactly what he is after to remain relevant without any fear of repercussions.
  20. Ripper post. So embarrassing seeing the guys think they are so tough pushing and mocking opposition after winning a free kick. Like school kids seriously. Now happening at junior level regularly which is so sad to see. Hate it!!!!
  21. Get real people. Merrett is hardly going to leave one mediocre performing club to go to another. He will go to a premiership window club if he decides to leave.
  22. Just a small 217 drop in percentage. Was always coming at some stage I guess.
  23. A few positives I thought on an ordinary day. Rigoni looked comfortable at the level and thought O’Hehir had her best game. Wotherspoon and Mahony did some good things too. Badly lacked run and connection today with key running players missing. Looked a bit tall too on a greasy day.
  24. Poor performance. Move on. Won ugly but got over the line. Think of the LEARNINGS people!!!!!
  25. The one with the helmet for xc$&@@ sake!!!! Get on her.
