Casey Demons - offseason 2025/6
OMG that’s horrendous.

Annual General Meeting
Had been thinking the same thing. Would be good to have an update from him before Xmas. Still hopeful it will be done and on the site shortly as great opportunity to connect with members and provide some first impressions on the group and focus after the break. Fingers crossed.

Melbourne's next AFLW coach
Completely agree. Season has just been completed so no immediate urgency. May be a difficult few weeks to interview candidates during the Xmas silly season. Much prefer them right now to take their time, get their list of preferred candidates together and then conduct a thorough process and get the right person. Don’t want blow by blow ongoing updates.

AFLW Draft 2025
Really disappointed. I thought she gave us something when she played and had the attributes to develop really well. Speed, good skills, good tackler and won most one on one battles for the ground ball that I saw. Have a bad feeling on this one that it may come back to bite us big time. Hope I’m wrong. Must have been told she would be delisted and to find another home.

AFLW Trade Period 2025
Have to assume they have an agreement in place with another club to now on-trade picks to move up the pointy end of the draft. Geez lets hope so.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
Thanks for the offer but think I’ll pass.

Mick Stinear Steps Down
As good as gone sadly. Loved watching Edo too. Would be a big loss.

Mick Stinear Steps Down
Club need to wrap their arms around our uncontracted players (and contracted for that matter) asap as bet your bottom dollar if Mick ends up at the Cats as widely tipped, he will be trying to bring some players with him. Could set us back years if this happens.

Training Ground?
Hopefully it’s not Never Never Land.

AFLW: PF vs North Melbourne
Wonderful game to watch. Gave it everything. Set a high bar now to start next season with and these three finals will prove invaluable to the younger players. We will get a much harder draw next season so will need to improve further to reach prelim again but believe we are very well placed to do so. Apart from a poor run with injuries, only thing that could derail us is if Mick leaves and this results in an exodus of key players. Fingers crossed this won’t be the case on both fronts. Go Dees!!!!

AFLW: SF vs Adelaide
OMG seriously one of the best videos the club has put together in recent times. In for some great footage this year if this is the new standard moving forward. Well done to all concerned at the Club. Go Dees!!!!!

2026 Walk Out Song
Hells Bells followed by the theme song always worked for me when coming on the ground. Then nothing during the game. (Except the occasional Irish jig music which was a bit of fun after goals).

AFLW: QF vs Brisbane
Disagree. We are not miles off the competition for skill at all. Assume you didn’t watch any other games this weekend. Even with the good draw we still finished second. Yes, today Brisbane were too solid, well drilled and experienced for us but we are a much younger team and had a few key outs to players we just can’t afford to lose. Majority of their team have been playing together for years. Large chunk of our team are only playing their first or second season and still learning the ropes and requirements of footy at the top level. At our best I really think we can compete with every team in it, North included. Challenge is to perform at that level for four quarters and respond when the best teams lift. Our girls are not the finished product yet. Their midfield was too deep for ours today and just ran over us. They stuck their tackles and were just too good for us in the end. But no way are we miles off the pace of the competition in terms of skill. I watched all four finals and our game was the best by a mile. It would be great in terms of development if we could topple the Crows next week and then have a crack at North. Win or lose, with continued good recruiting, I am really optimistic the Club is setting this team up for sustained success over the coming years. Go Dees!!!!

2026 AFL Fixture
Yes my view is it will most likely reward mediocrity. Clearly a $$$$ driven decision. Who knows, might be ok but would not like to see a team with a negative win-loss record suddenly qualify for finals. On a side note, reckon it’s pretty disappointing of the journalists to decide to release this during two of the women’s finals (AFL leaked I imagine). They deserved some clear air and not have all the talk for the next few days to be on the men’s wildcard round.

AFLW: QF vs Brisbane
We have a much younger side overall and it showed a bit today. They will be much better for experiencing a hard finals game and with continued smart recruiting, especially with running mids, I’m very optimistic for our future. Put Chaplin, Purcell, Zanker and Goldie in today and may have been quite different.

AFLW: QF vs Brisbane
Bingo!!! Frightening how many of our tackles have been run through.

Farewell Christian Petracca
Will be interesting to see if either Trac or Clayton post a farewell message on social media to the Demon Army and supporters in general. Haven’t seen anything as yet. Would like to think Trac still has some love and appreciation for our club and supporters somewhere deep inside him. Might be a bit harder for Clayton in view of how things unfolded for him over the past couple of weeks. Even so, would be surprising and disappointing if at least the Demon Army don’t get some kind of acknowledgement from them, especially as they will always be such an important part of the 2021 flag.

Farewell Christian Petracca
What am I meant to do now with my Trac (wearing his Norm Smith medal) and Clarry bobble heads from the 2021 flag? I also have Max and Kozzie all still in their boxes. Four years ago if I knew two of these would no longer be with us now, would have bet on Kozzie and perhaps an old and injured Max. Would never have thought Trac and Clarry would be the two to go. Oh the pain. The pain. Then again maybe I am just a bobble headed booby for buying them in the first place.

Farewell Christian Petracca
Noooooo! Surely not.

Welcome to Demonland: Changkuoth Jiath
He was coming back from an injury last season and was coming from a fair way back. Exciting player at his best.
-
Farewell Christian Petracca
Completely agree we need quality players before draft picks but that will most likely prove difficult as we are probably not currently viewed positively I would suggest. Just saying that the draft is not a complete write off if we are forced down this path though first round is where we would need to be. Of course there is always the option of keeping Trac (and Oliver I guess) but not sure this is plausible now or what the Club would want.
-
Farewell Christian Petracca
I believe it’s more that the depth isn’t there and falls away quite a bit after the first round or so. Still some quality at the top end. We should be ok if we get 2 picks inside say top 15-20 but have to get them right.
