A link to an exercise I found worthwhile doing. Toggle through the years beginning in 2011 - the Giants first draft where they admittedly were handed a swathe of first round draft picks - and then follow through until the 2018 draft and you’ll come to the realisation that a lot of those high picks have moved on to other clubs or have been broken with injury (Patton) or left the game (Boyd). Whilst it irks me to even acknowledge this, the Giants have basically made the most value out of their trades which of course have usually resulted in more high draft picks that’s left them at the pointy end of the National draft again and again. I wonder how all of Treloar, Adams and Hoskins-Elliott (ex-GWS top 10 picks) we’re feeling yesterday as they were running around in Pies jumpers? GWS draft history

Due to this deplorable umpiring and the Giants being decimated by injury I’m actually hoping GWS get up. Spit on the filth.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
McQueen replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
I’ve changed my position on Bennell and would advocate for a one year deal. Having a baby also provides a really good grounding for him to mature as well so the off field stuff now is a lot less of a risk - particularly away from WA. -
-
Maybe neither of us should read too much into that because 12 months ago it was effectively the other way around.
-
Such an indictment on the lack of quality and depth in our list compared to Brisbane’s that we would even consider a player like this. Lions moving them out. Some posters looking at bringing them in.

“Oscar Allen has fresh legs” wtf does that even mean?? He’s shown as much as Oscar McDonald ffs. Darling is a crab. The only time he takes marks is when his teammates block opponents and the umps don’t pull it up. Take Hurn and Yeo out of that team and they win half the games they won this year and miss finals. Shuey is a worse ducker than Selwood but again gets the same treatment as Darling which is a blind eye from the Umps. Gaff will become a waste by-product of this drug fuelled underperforming team over the next few years and should entertain offers elsewhere.
-
West Coast’s window is barely ajar now imo. Kennedy broken and on last legs. Hurn almost done. Nic Nat scratching together games. Drugs again? A couple of things from this is why would Kelly want to go there when it would be arguably greener pastures at Freo in years to come. Secondly, the likes of Gaff can see the writing on the wall. Crashed out of the finals with hardly a whimper. C’mon Gaffy....
-
He’s doing a bloody good job of it.
-
I’m awaiting your brilliance. Ed: upon review of stats on footywire, there’s not a lot in it. Kelly vs Gaff
-
Kelly has become a more damaging player than Gaff and is several years younger. If I was an Eagles supporter I would swap the two in a heartbeat.
-
I’m kinda thinking it was a rhetorical question.
-
Umm.... Never watched the bloke?
-
That’s a very good question and is why added the Eagles pick 13 into the equation. Gaff is still in his prime and we’d get 4 years of excellent value from him imv.
-
Maybe worth moving back Andy? With Kelly wanting to get to the the Eagles, can we be the conduit to allow that to happen with pick 2?? At a basic level: MFC trade pick 2 to WCE WCE give us Gaff and 13 WCE trade pick 2 to GFC Kelly lands at Eagles West Coast need to cough up a good player to land Tim Kelly and the only way I can see it happening is to offload a similarly handy player who might see a move back east as having merit. I understand Gaff signed long term at the end of last year on the back of a very emotional period for him but as well know it means little given the Brad Hill scenario and countless other contract backflips. What are people’s thoughts?

EAD Hawkins. You might kick lots of goals but you’ve always been a staging and sniping piece of [censored]. Clearly I’m a fan.
-
Needs to bulk up by a few kilos. Shouldn’t affect his ability to intercept but will aid his ability to hold his ground against oppo forwards.
-
Well it’s mayhem here in Perth. Supporters have pulled out the ‘Kerr, Cousins, Fletcher, Mainwaring, Gardiner, Rioli’ code of conduct booklet and are rioting in the street with glass bbq’s in hand. I’m staying indoors today.

Back our fitness staff to manage our defenders so they can front up and play more regularly. If we go for Keith and Laird it will only be because we've lost Frost, won't trade for Langdon and possibly have little faith in Jetta and Hibbo playing with any continuity. Our priority should be smart forwards before more defenders.

Just another variable to lament in an overall poorly run program. Wonder if this was one of the items we took to the AFL?

I thought it was ‘neck’ related and they (the medicos) had it sorted... I hope he comes right and we have a valuable player but to be frank, we got sold bull [censored].
