After listening to a number of players speak about how they prep for short turnarounds vs standard weeks over the years, i suspect this week will be mostly about recovery, skills/touch, a bit of gym and ye olde strategy / match ups. Certainly very little stuff, if any, that resembles the usual match sim or scrimmage / tackle type work. Some very tapered tailored running / training loads (for some) A significantly lighter week all round., especially for the more senior guys. And also a focus on freshening the mind by not keeping the boys on the track for long and instead letting them do other freshener upper recreational activities that still keeps them exercising like a golf day / swimming or similar non-footy track stuff. Obviously 5 days is a very short turnaround. For me a win by any margin will be a super result, especially after the effort given on Sat night.

Am i reading the tea leaves correctly? If the Kolt gets a gig this week, he has effectively leap frogged Sestan, Laurie & Moniz in a matter of one pre-season and a few games (Rnd 1 & 2 plus Praccys) at Casey.

May's a chance according to Goody. Chin probably misses... https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1520066/media-conference-focuses-may-closing-in

Apparently zombies aren't into eating opposition supporters if they're suffering from any kind of viral illness like the flu, covid, chicken pox etc as they know it's not good for their health. Get well soon lone Demon!

Thx WC. That banner was outstanding for Vins and the noise / chants made by the D.A. & others in attendance was superb. Congrats to all there and hope you're enjoying your stay over there. Found a decent coffee yet?

Tracc can be super up & about then give the impression of being a bit down and grumpy at times (on the track) from what i've witnessed. Might be just his nature or could be carrying something? He wanted to keep to himself (mostly) coming off the track last week and looked a little forlorn. Yes i noticed that against the Hawks. Hopefully not much in it. No doubt many of the boys are carrying stuff we never hear about.

Smacca (McAdam) said he'll be right to play by next Monday (roughly).* Whether that's via Casey or straight in... who knows. *subject to no further setbacks

Yes i feel it was up there with some of our best wins since 21 DZ. The others for mine were the come back against the Blues with Kozzy kicking the winner in 22. And Melk's winning mark & goal against the Lions in 23. Loved Vin's goal from ANB's HB after his clever body work and spin out of trouble in this one!

Gotta love the D.A. Fritta's mum getting all the hugs!? https://www.facebook.com/share/v/34c6pN3ygMDGRsmJ/?mibextid=xfxF2i

I'd bring Tommo in for Marty this week. Both Tex & Fog tend to play mostly higher towards the arc which suits Tommo's game to a T where he is more comfrotable the further he is from the sticks. Probably start him on Fog. T-Mac takes Tex, with Tex presently turning like the Titanic and a fair way off his best. Fog's in marginally better form than Tex at the moment imho and he's a big bull who needs another bull to mind him (Tommo not Marty).

Round 3, 2024 Adelaide Oval - Power vs Demons Demon scoring efficiency... Disposals Per Goal 21.00 % In50s Goal 33.00 Conversion % 71.40 The last time we were that efficient & effective up forward was Rnd 7, 2023 vs the Kangas. (19 / 34 / 76) Not taking much notice of the team rating here as this was a super high pressure game against a quality opponent. All that matters in the end is the scoreboard in these type of matches imv. Big M takes out the No.1 rating honours and by a fair margin. Ahead of Rivers, Tracc and ANB. What a game from ANB who i would rate as probably BOG, just ahead of Maxy. Thoughts? Let's take a little more in depth look at both of these legends... Maxy; 11 effectives @ 55%, 1 contested mark, 3 one percenters, 6 clearances, 3 rebounds, 5 tackles (2 inside 50), 8 score involvements (the most for us on the night), 6 intercepts, a massive 17 hit outs to advantage, 377 meters gaines, 1 goal and a miserly 2 turnovers. What a game from the big fella. ANB; 16 effectives @ 67%, 1 mark inside 50, 2 one percenters, 1 clearance, 1 rebound, 5 inside 50s, 6 tackles, 7 score involvements, 5 intercepts, 381 meters gained, 2 goals and 6 turnovers (equal highest for us on the night with Lever which would have effected his rating somewhat). That's some rating from Rivers and a hopefully a great sign of things to come, blitzing his 2023 season rating (his best season so far) by 18%! While a fair way off his 2023 rating, i thought Clarry played a fabulous gutsy second half, effectively with a bung hand! Yes i agree with this... bring Sparrow & Kozzy's CBAs up. Maybe bring in Moniz to take some of the Kozzy forward minutes and to give him a taste at the top level.

What They're Saying at Alberton Oval / Shelbyville
Demon Dynasty replied to Rab D Nesbitt's topic in Melbourne Demons
Meanwhile the self flagellation continues.... ... PORDADELAIDE TRADITION Did anyone locate bong cones at any point during the second half? Ken should be "desisted"I was at the game and it's still extremely evident to me that Lachie Jones is the worst player I've ever seen in my life He's the direct cause of 3, maybe 4 goals against. He should be desisted tonight. Dixon too. I'm not a crackpot Your not wrong about Jones and Dixon but you're still a crackpot. I've had enough I'm going back to the Sack Hinkley page. Every page is the sack hinkley page m8. Just post it anywhere and itll fit into discussions perfectly fine. Old mate with the missing teeth and hand in the crowd probably a better grab than Lachie Jones. -
There was also the HTB against Fritta on the wing in the last Q who had about half a second before he was tackled with both arms pinged and brought to the ground. That resulted in a goal to Port as well. Counter balanced by the non HTB call on ANB inside our 50 Swings & roundabouts

I'm confused. When humans start to turn in any zombie apocalypse i've watched, any remaining humans usually put it down before they are bitten!! Does this mean they're happy to tear each other apart!??

Howdy gang, loving this segment ty. Roo is probably the best chop out for Max in the ruck at this point yes? I think he's been pretty serviceable up till last night, where i fthought he had a bit of a howler. Having said that i still think he gets a reprieve. So, does the FD take an unchanged team in for the Crows or maybe tinker/manage a little with say Tommo for Marty and/or swapping Billings / Woe as sub? (who i thought did very well when he came on in the last quarter). Also by his own estimates, Smacca (McAdam) said he's only one more week away (assuming no further injury hic ups). This would mean he'll be ready for the Lions match Thurs week or, at worst, the Tigers post the bye (might be via Casey though). Who would he replace 'IF' we decide to bring him in? Or can we afford to keep playing the 3 talls in Petty, BBB & Roo once May returns in a few weeks? Three talls seems like one too many for mine but if Roo goes out we have no decent back up to relieve Max in the ruck. Some tough selection decisions looming (in a positive way though!).
-
Ditto on that. Thought this match was right up there as well and a major catalyst which built the momentum / belief for our run into the 2023 finals campaign...
-
That's the one. He just round arm slapped him to the hip and may have knocked some wind outta him. About 2 outta 10 vs the Pendles open palm to the guts/heart. A small fine at worst.
-
Ok thanks that makes sense. I stand corrected ✌🏼
-
Also played a few good games as a defender at Casey in between his usual forward / occasional ruck roles.
-
A huge shout out to the D.A. and anyone that managed to get there tonight. The cheering was immense and loud. The chanting sensational. Must've given the boys a lift too. Fabulous stuff guys! 💪🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✅️✅️✅️

Yes it can as part of the post is behind the goal line. The goal line runs through the middle of the post yes? Another example.... if player kicks a very high kick and the entire ball sails just past the line but is then taken by a gust of wind or the ball's being kicked into a howler and it is pulled back toward the post and hits it....surely the goal stands? It's broken the imaginary plane (line) that runs between the posts.
-
Thats correct. They always ask if the entire ball has crossed the line or not. If it had, whether it hits the post or not, it's a goal. They should've gone to the ARC goal line view
