Could be super embarrassing for the Peptides here. They should thank their very few stars that it's raining or they'd be looking down the barrel of 100 plus defeat imv

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
Campbell or AJ? Even Turner might be an option once he's recovered. Absolutely....i get the feeling he is also being ignored on the lead at times. Take a look at the Lingers mad angled kick to Kolt in the third. Fritta was leading straight up at him, with oodles of space on his opponent. Hitting Fritta directly in front with a 15 meter kick or so was by far the easiest of the two options. There's no way Lingers could have missed him but instead chose to deliberately hack the ball at right angles, about 25 meters across traffic for a tricky mark to Kolt. That's just one example. There was another from last week as well. Fritta then burns Spargo in the last AND misses the goal also. Strange days indeed. Most peculiar mama

Any chance we could score more than 1 goal in this final quarter?

GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond
Still a fair way off AFL fitness and form? I'd take Culley or Brown dog at this point and just let Spargy find it at Casey. Even if it takes 4 to 5 weeks. Maybe more. Not his fault just been out of it for too long and it shows.

Salom has Riv over the top who can run into a paddock and instead chooses a short dinky 20 meter safe kick to a man covered. Might be time to trial Sestan

GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond
Shocking game all round. So many unforced errors. A lack of first use and clean clearances without Max getting so many vs his impact last week. We look slow and clumsy. Bowsa & Salo doing their best not to [censored] the bed. Windsor looks like a duck out of water at HB in this one. His burst into sprint that he offered last season seems to have dried up but might be just lack of match fitness or the foot issue. Fritsch always playing from behind and looking for the cheapy out the back just won't cut it unless the defenders get caught out too high and we're able to punish them on the slingshot. I suspect we just aren't bringing the pressure at the carrier that we did so well last week. Meaning we just aren't getting the ball back as often. Back to guarding grass and rolling back behind the ball, giving the oppo plenty of good link up looks and this super wet rookie team is taking them. Kozzy trying to do too much and and being too cute imho. Just use the ball well son. Give and go.... find your targets etc. Simon's given a poor team a sniff & left the door open... AGAIN. We have the opportunity to take this and win it comfortably but there's just so many players having a mare.

- TRAINING: Wednesday 23rd April 2025
Agreed. That's not a sustainable performance. However, his first AFL game for yonks. Get the nerves outta the way. Reset for this week and hopefully a better result. Apart from the middle to top end talent, i would think most fringe players would take a few weeks to find their feet, especially if they haven't played in years. Hopefully he will step up. But there's also the role playing component. Provide a competitive chop out and neutralise against the oppo ruck where possible. Wins to advantage a bonus. Act as a decoy at times taking your opponent away from the hot zones or lanes that Petty / Fritta / Melk / Kozzy & Tracc are looking to work into. Draw the occasional extra defender on your own leads and / or get the ball to ground as bare minimum for the smalls to work on (front & square etc). Oppo defenders usually don't do so well when up against a 2 meter + player who hits up at the ball carrier. Especially when the ball's coming in quickly. If he gets these basics right, provides a half decent chop out and goals occasionally, then he's played his role for the team. The FD will be all over this anyways and he'll be well scripted as to what his minimum requirements are. Part of that will probably be work rate and 2nd efforts, multiple leads, what he does without the ball etc.- TRAINING: Wednesday 23rd April 2025
- Max Gawn shanks left - AGAIN
Classic Chook. But this has to be one of the more frustrating things. And not just with Max. Last week was almost the perfect game from him so no complaints from me. You aren't expecting a super accurate kick from any player over 2 meters. If you do it's a huge bonus. But his set shot accuracy is so poor. Three things that stand out for me. The first is the last step. Which i've pointed out many times over the years. Not always but mostly, ends up pointing like daffy duck out to the left. So where's the right follow through kicking leg going to end up pretty much any time he plants the daffy left launch foot? You guessed it... hard shank left. But imo that last faulty launch step is there because the method is flawed. Secondly, there's the runway approach to the kick. Which is way too robotic and slow Imo. BBB is a similar height. He also has a long run up. But he B lined straight for the goals and by the time he hit the launch pad, he had some speed and momentum up. His follow through after the kick was going straight at the goals. Thirdly, Max does the slow robotic (hesistant) run up even when he's only 35 meters out, or less! And from what i remember he also leans back as he kicks yes? Another potential nail in the kicking accuracy coffin even if the left foot is pointing straight at goal. Those shots should be "find a target behind the goals, maybe directly behind the right post or just aim at the right post about half way up". Run in more quickly as if you're just hitting a standard field kick pass to a fellow player 20 - 35 meters away. Follow through off the kick towards the target. All easy from here and i'm not over 2 meters tall. But wish someone would work with him and change it up. Should've happened years ago. I'm sure he's tried and tried and had help, but whatever the method, it ain't working and if anything he appears to have gotten worse in the last season or so. Alternatively try and get the handball away to someone who's a good kick coming from behind. Or a short pass lateral to a designated kicker. Same with Tracc's around the corner kicks. My gosh. No deliberate technique apparent. Just flop it on the boot and hope it curls through. Crazy stuff. Even 2 meter tall Draper with his awkward technique, has a very deliberate around the corner technique. And it works. 9 from 9 attempts prior to his season ending injury. Tracc looks like he CBB with anything deliberate and in a rush just to bang it through. You have to want to put an effective procedure (that works for you) in place by constant practice and minor adjustments. Alot of room for improvement with Max & Tracc.- NON-MFC: Round 06
The chances are likely given Nash is not a name player. But who knows. The Hawks also have long tentacles that might still have some influence at HQ- NON-MFC: Round 06
Nash KO'd Miers... "A football act" surely- Stats File - 2025 edition
Good question GS. Possibly a combination of things. Expectations are high for him as watchers remember his Pre 2024 levels. Which were mostly off the chart B&F all Australian type performances. Anything substantially below those levels and he ain't looking like the Clazz we once knew (at his peak). For his usual standards, no he isn't. From there people are judging and saying he is so far off. Yes he is off those levels. But that doesn't mean he isn't producing a level that still has him just ahead of some of our best. Keeping in mind that until Freo, with a few exceptions, many have been well below their best also. Which might make Clarry's player ratings appear like he's rating super well or in this case, over rated as you are suggesting. To give some idea, his 2025 rating is 7% below season 2023 (5.00), 13% below 2022 (5.32) and 12% below 2021 (5.26). 2025 is (so far) right on par with his 2019 Rating of 4.64 This Rating punishes turnovers. And while Clazz does appear to be turning it over a fair bit in some games, believe it or not, he appears to have cleaned that part up a little vs prior seasons (see his turnover average below). Less turnovers does help lift his player rating a tad and might be giving a bit of a false reading vs his actual impact on the game vs seasons prior to 2024. Average Turnovers by Season 2025 - 3.3 2024 - 4.4 2023 - 5.7 2022 - 5.5 2021 - 5.3 2020 - 4.6 2019 - 4.7 This rating doesn't cover things like two way running and pressure acts either. Amongst other factors! He might be off vs prior years here? Tackles and 1 percenters are quite good vs 2021 - 2023 Contested possessions are still about 3 down on average vs his best years from 2021 - 2022 as per below... 2025 14.3 2024 11.2 2023 14.5 2021 - 2022 17.7 Combine this with the fact that he is having a reasonably good year vs 2024 and that may explain why his rating appears a tad high. Coming off a low base! Still a fair way off 21 - 23 levels though. However an 'ok' Clarry in terms of output and impact may well still be better than most. In the end my ratings are not all encompassing and far from perfect. Everyone also sees the game differently. Some are better at this than others too. Stats are only a rough record of some limited aspects of what happens on the field. No matter how comprehensive, they can't cover all aspects and nuances and a big caveat always hangs over them. A classic example is someone putting in a hard tag. I doubt stats will ever highlight a good job done on that front. Another is the fat side winger. So much two way running that goes unrewarded but it remains an integral part of the team's success regardless.- PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
They must have asked him to work on aspects of his game. Part of that possibly defence & pressure? Work rate another maybe?- Stats File - 2025 edition
Team & Player Ratings to Rnd 6, 2025 vs H&A Season 2024 That result pushes us just ahead of our Season 2024 Team Rating Now we just need to get Melk, Spargo, Windsor, Tracc & Viney back to or fairly near to their very best on a consistent basis from here. A great bounce back from Vines against the Dockers is a good start from him. CP5 still a power of work ahead to get back to his 2024 levels but is improving week by week. Big Max close to his best form. Fabulous start to the season from Bowsa, Chandler, Petty & Langdon. The two rookies in Lindsay & Langdon tracking nicely 🤞🏻 McVee back soonish. May a possibility? Culley could be a surprise packet at some point. * Played less than two full matches < Subbed out at least once or more > Subbed in at least once or more Stats courtesy of footwire.com & wheeloratings.com- POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
The play we don't have in the kick in arsenal yet is the occasional play on give and go straight up the middle. Would love to see that at some point using say knuckles out of the square off to Windsor et al. - TRAINING: Wednesday 23rd April 2025
