  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs9MQujZK-o I'll stop now. I promise.
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1o8OoorDS8 Nothing to do with the subject of Newton playing seniors this week, but neither is this thread  Brock McLean only just beats Stewie for awesomeness :D
  4. Balls to that. He will most certainly play this year. I'd almost bet my house on it.
  5. Yeah, that a whole lot of other Melbourne- related issues If we lose to Richmond tomorrow, the therapist will have to climb up Light-Tower #4 to try and stop me from jumping.
  6. Some people get lucky and kill two birds with one stone. Brock McLean once killed four birds with half a stone. What's that? You say there's no such thing as half a stone? The four dead birds didn't think so either. Einstein's original Theory of Relativity was; if Brock McLean kicks you, your relatives will feel it. Brock McLean does not sleep. He waits. Brock McLean has two speeds. Walk, and Kill. Brock McLean does not go hunting... Brock McLean goes killing. I have about a million of those thanks to a Chuck Norris email someone sent me. Pffft... Chuck Norris wishes he was as good as Brock McLean!
  7. I have to agree with you on this point. There is no rush, and we are better off keeping him in the VFL a little while longer until he is truly ready, than promoting him and stuffing up a 3 year plan to develop him. He isn't going anywhere, he is signed up for next year, and he is only 20. The hysteria surrounding his debut is quite amusing, but I guess in such a horrible year, we need to have something to look forward to. For what it's worth, I had a dream that Newton finally made his debut against the Pies, was on the bench for the entire match then Daniher brought him on with 6 minutes to go, he fluffed his only kick, and we lost the match. <_<
  8. Your "friend" may not always be right, but he is spot on with his assessment of Bell He might not be leading the B&F, because defenders seldom win awards, but in terms of improvement and consistency, Belly wins hands down. He had 1 average game this year, playing against West Coast which slaughtered us. He gave away 10cm that day to his opponent, and still did not have a bag of goals kicked on him. In summation, Bell has finally become the player some of us always knew he could be.
  9. For the good of the team Condemned... for the good of the team
  10. Have you see his girlfriend? I'm sure she enjoys the close tagging!
  11. Pickett is a near certainty to line up as well. Shame, I was kind of hoping to see Buckley debut instead.
  12. Oh man, how do I always manage to get a mention in every Brock thread? Firstly, what a brilliant article. I might just have to frame it. Stevens is absolutely spot on with his assessment of Brock, and he isn't as biased as we are. He is a natural leader, and I agree completely that he should captain us on Friday night. Secondly, all this talk about his looks is quite ridiculous coming from all you men! :D He has a hell of a lot going for him, and I'm sure he has no issues picking up women wherever he goes. There is something very attractive about his 'run myself to the ground' work ethic
  13. Yep, and Godfrey will win the Brownlow.
  14. I didn't realise Beamer had surgery on the groins. Isn't that meant to fix the problem, not prolong it? I am most worried about Rivers. We all know that back problems can end careers...
  15. If you choose to print the ticket, you won't be charged any handling fees. At least I wasn't...
  16. Well I'm sick of this thread personally. It has now moved onto subjects far removed from Miller's 6 goal performance, TWO weeks ago. Time to build a bridge... (I'll reopen the thread if/when Miller gets selected)
  17. Ok, I'm back armed with Richmond knowledge *vomit* Likely Tigers defence for Friday night: Newman (183cm 85kg) - Yze/ Pickett/ Bruce Bowden – I was thinking Robbo, but he might play on Bate so that he isn't dragged back to the square. Deledio – Davey? Polak – Robbo (danger match-up for the Tigers. They might go with Newman) Raines- 184cm 81kg - Sylvia This leaves Thursfield (191cm 83kg) to take on Miller or Dunn or Newton depends on who gets the game. However, you'd have to think that if Newton gets a game and plays out of the goal square, his likely opponent will be Polak, who has been in good form this year. Which leaves Robbo with Bowden (we all remember the last time those two played against each other! :D). Then of course you have to look at the weather. Is it likely to pour (at the moment they are saying 14 with 'increasing showers'), and if so, do we still bring in an extra tall, or play someone like Dunn who is very good below his knees, or maybe go with a small forward line all together?
  18. Because they have both proven that they can play at this level. And this is not a cue for people to start blasing Miller for being an ordinary AFL forward. Dunn has done more than enough IMO to get a recall, even if he wasn't brilliant at Sandy. He was unlucky to be dropped to begin with. Look, I really want to see Newton play, but I'm not holding my breath and I'm not going to slash my wrists if he doesn't play until later in the year. I'm going to go do a bit of research on the Tigers' backline, and I'll be back. At the moment, I'm trying to work out who Richmond will play on Juice if he gets a game, given that Bowden will obviously take Robbo.
  19. Oh well, you don't have to agree or respect my comments, that is the beauty of this site. The point I made is that you can stick up for the players (and I have been one of Miller's biggest supporters), but you need to be able to back up your statements. Having a cry because somebody doesn't agree with you is something you should probably stop doing when you reach the age of 6. And you find me a game where I put Bell in the best when he wasn't deserving of it. As others have said, he has been one of our best and most consistent performers this year. English is not my first language, but surely it isn't too much to expect people to not type as if they are writing an SMS. I find full-stops and new paragraphs to be extremely helpful. Also, if you use Firefox, you can download a spell-checker for free. As for this thread, can we just let it go already?
  20. I'm pretty sure that you can buy a ticket at the gate, but the reason why it is a ticketed game is because it could be a sell-out, so they encourage you to pre-book a ticket. Being lazy is not really a good excuse. Just go to the website, buy a ticket, and if you have a printer choose the 'print ticket' option. You virtually get to sit on your arse while your tickets come to you (and you don't even have to pay extra). It's not that difficult... pffft men!
  21. Beat me to it. This place gets very original about half-way through a season. I'd like to see Newton given a game, and the opportunity is there against probably a weaker side with a young and inexperienced backline. But will the club change their plan for him? Probably not, and maybe that's a good thing. Dunn and Miller, despite being ordinary on the weekend, still have the runs on the board and are still ahead of Newton in the line for a recall. I wouldn't be too disappointed if they give Dunn a game instead. It would be nice for Newton to be named as an emergency though, just to know that he's getting close... Oh, and you can never have too many "we love Brock McLean" threads!
  22. I've spent a lot of money on therapists, trying to suppress that memory. Thanks very much for reminding me!
  23. Sure they are, but this season still sucks! I want to see our best 22 out on the park for just one week, so that we can really assess where we are. It's frustrating that everytime we get someone back, we lose another two.
  24. Nope. We got ours already as I had to get tickets for both Melbourne and Essendon members.
  25. Just reported on Ch. 7, no TJ either. He has achilles soreness. Also, Richmond's Nathan Brown is set to play. This season sucks!
