  1. I always said that he'd be gone if McLean came into the picture, not sure we discussed Finks Thanks for making me laugh while I'm crippled in bed!
  2. I can think of at least 2 people who might have something to say about that!
  3. Get your money ready kids, because I have it on very good authority that The Juice will be coming to a Dome near you this Friday night.
  4. Of course your list is better, you don't write for sportal.com.au What can you tell us about Rhen and Jonas? I don't know anything about them, and I'd like to find out. I'm worried by all the smoke surrounding Connolly. Usually where there is smoke, there is fire. Listening to his press conference today, he made it clear that he is a 'life member of the MFC'. Good on you Chris, you were a good player for this club and it's all peaches and butterflies, but we want a premiership and the only thing you've shown so far is your inability to get Freo to perform consistently. I'm going to have nightmares about this until a new coach is signed up.
  5. From the article: Garry Lyon: Doesn't even want to coach. People talk about Voss having no experience, what exactly has Gary done in the form of coaching? Chris Connolly: Everyone will become very familiar with me saying this... DON'T GO THERE! Connolly is in the same boat as Daniher. Great person, but soft. His list at Fremantle is superior to ours, and yet they under perform every year and they have horrible discipline issues. Sounds familiar? Michael Voss: A risk that, if it comes off, will come off in a huge way. Mark Harvey: Been searching for that head job for a long time, but has been left out to dry. You have to wonder why. Gary O'Donnell: Not bad. Lots of experience, would like to know more about him. Chris Bond: Not keen, but maybe as an assistant. Guy McKenna: Heard conflicting reports about him, and again, he's been knocked back several times and that has to be a worry. Overall a very uninspiring list. Voss excites me greatly, everyone else are average or completely horrible.
  6. Gardner is nothing like Butterss or Kennett, and Daniher's review was based on nothing else but his performance as coach. Unlike what happened at St.Kilda. And being a small club, we need all the publicity we can get. Gardner has really pushed Melbourne's cause in the media, he made it clear that we deserve AFL funding just like all other clubs get in some form or another (e.g.- Collingwood's draw). He works in advertising so he knows exactly what it takes to promote this club. What the hell would you know about what he does off the field? I know a number of board members and people who are close to Gardner, and I can tell you that he works tirelessly to better this club. Steve Harris, our CEO is actually responsible for financing and both he and our president have done a wonderful job getting us back on track. We were in millions of dollars of debt when those two took over, and this year, we'll be making a profit. Not to mention that after years of being homeless, we're finally starting to build ourselves some decent facilities. That is a huge deal! Well that just about sums it up... Don't get offended, just making you accountable that's all.
  7. I have my doubts over his sanity. I actually think we need to get someone who has been involved in the game recently. Either a current assistant coach, or someone like Voss who is recently retired. The game has changed a lot since Ayres was coaching, it changes every year. We need someone who understands the modern game, and what it takes to compete with clubs like West Coast. Not just on the field, but in terms of off-field structures too. I'd actually like to get someone who played/coached interstate. Who knows, might bring a bit of interstate luck with him (Don't get Connolly!!!)
  8. There is nothing common about common sense And didn't we ban the use of the word 'Woewodin' a while ago?
  9. Thank god that 99% of Melbourne supporters support THE CLUB, and not the individuals. The club has handled the situation admirably, and has done the best it could in very difficult circumstances. Gardner said the club won't talk about Daniher until the season was over, well guess what, the season IS over. We can't make the finals and we've won 2 games in case you forgot. The time to act is now, so that both Melbourne and Daniher have plenty of time to decide what they want to do next year. Daniher was not sacked, he was given the review and decided to quit. Good on him, he's putting the club's needs first as always. We are a business, and we're allowed to review our employees if we don't think they are performing up to our standard. Oh and comparing the Woewodin trade to Daniher's resignation just further proves that you care about the individual more than the club. I bet you'll be thrilled if we win a flag under a new coach next year, won't you?
  10. Just found this on Bigfooty: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=342122 Not sure how true it is, so all fellow pro-Voss posters, I'll put the champagne on hold...
  11. Up to 10 now... Come on females, own up! I can name 6 female posters, myself included, who I know of, and I've been posting here forever.
  12. Hopefully the conference goes something like this: "We'd like to thank Neale for his services... bla bla bla" "We're now looking into prospective coaches...bla bla bla" "We won't be making anymore comments until a coach has been found...bla bla bla" "Oh, and Chris Connolly will most certainly NOT be given an interview" Please oh god somebody put me out of my misery about this Chris Connolly thing. I'm now barracking for Freo to make the finals. Go Freo go! <_<
  13. Calm down. I'm only passing on the information.
  14. Tony Jones said on Ch.9 that there is no guarantee that Daniher will coach beyond the Essendon game on Friday. I hope for the club's sake that he does.
  15. When one door closes, another one opens. This is our chance to make a real change at the MFC, wipe the slate clean and start again. I'm sad to see Daniher go, because he has always been a good servant of this club, but I'm so excited by the prospect of starting fresh. This is our chance to do something big. I just hope the club really makes the most of this opportunity.
  16. Anyone in favour of Demonland taking over selection till the end of the season? I can see Newton pretty much captaining the side for 10 rounds if that was the case!
  17. To be fair, we'll have new facilitles soon, but yes I agree that if anything stops Voss from coaching us, it would be the fact that we're not well set-up. Still, I hope Melbourne is on the phone to him right now, finding out his plans and getting in early. They will no doubt interview him, but what happens after that is anyone's guess. At the very least, I hope he becomes an assistant (he might not get any better offers).
  18. There is always a risk of that happening, but IMO Davey loves the club more (I'm sure he loves Whelan more ) If anyone is going to lure him away, it would be his brother, not Neale. At the end of the day, Daniher's favourites are mostly senior players, who by the time Daniher is ready to coach again, will most likely be finished anyways.
  19. Nobody here has any inside knowledge into who will coach us next year. I think Ratten would be in with a chance... from what I heard anyways
  20. No he shouldn't. What's the alternative here? One of our assistants takes over for 10 rounds, and the outcome is still the same. Let's face it, none of our assistants are cut out to be senior coaches, and nobody we want to coach next year is ready to step up in 2 days. From now until the end of the year, this club will pretty much be coached by the players anyways. We'll get to see who REALLY wants to play for the jumper and who puts in the effort. For his part, I hope Daniher plays the kids, and gives everyone an opportunity to prove to whoever coaches us next year, whether or not they deserve to be at the club. Daniher is doing the honorable thing by not leaving us stuck without a coach until the end of the season. He should stay and do his best and let the club concentrate on finding a good long-term replacement for him. We've got a good head-start which is the main thing.
  21. I am in shock, as I certainly didn't expect it to happen so quick. I heard nothing all day as I was at work, but I am not at all surprised that Daniher did the dignified and honorable thing. This is truly the end of an era, and everyone should feel a touch of sadness that someone who has given their all for 10 years is leaving. I would like to thank him, as despite everything, he has done his absolute best for this club, and right till the end has put this club first. His time has most certainly come and I'm thrilled that the club will part ways on good terms. This has been one horrible season, but 2008 begins today as far as I'm concerned.
  22. Not to mention that Collingwood, who are coming along VERY nicely this year, have played a fair amount of first gamers and youngsters throughout the season. I don't always agree that playing the youngsters is giving up or tanking. If by playing them you are replacing average players who don't bring a whole lot to the side, apart from experience, than there is nothing to say that you're any less of a chance to win games.
  23. 7 females! When did this happen?
  24. Meh, get Mickrocks to do it... I'm too lazy to be adding up numbers! And what exactly was said on SEN?? Are we famous?!
