  1. At least Bell goes hard, puts his body on the line, tackles, runs, chases. Newton tries to take one-handed marks, fly for impossible speccies and when he finally gets the ball he does the lazy thing and kicks it around his body. I have never seen a footballer care less. He truly looks like he just doesn't give a [censored], and the worse thing is, he kept Zomer out of the team today. Someone please hide him away until his contract is up, because if I have to see this guy pretending to be a Melbourne footballer again I might just be forced to poke both my eyes out with a stick. Thank god for players like Petterd who have so much heart they almost make up for his lack of one!
  2. Unbelievable. Actually, no, typical. I love barracking for Melbourne That Grimes smother was awesome though, and Cheney and Spencer showed a lot. In the end, it was our poor kicking in front of goal and our midfield (which is seriously terrible, aside from McLean) that lost us the match. Oh, and Newton is an absolute joke of a footballer, and I sincerely hope to never ever see him in a Melbourne jumper again.
  3. Just how good is Brock McLean? I mean I know he's good, but when he doesn't play for a while you just forget how good he is. I also really like Bell in the midfield (and have been going on and on about this for as long as Bell has been on our list). He is a fantastic tackler, and his strong body is influential, even if to give McLean a bit of physical protection. Everytime I see Cheney I think it's Walshy! :D
  4. I'm not necessarily happy that Junior is out, but I'm happy that Bail is getting a chance to play. Junior, as our oldest player, needs to reserve his energy and get through this season. We don't need another mid-season retirement from our captain. Morton2Watts... get in line! By the way, I'm pretty sure Bail was the one who gave off the handball to Davey who kicked it to Bate, who kicked our last goal.
  5. Aussie is icing his hammy, but to me it seems like just tightness that they are not willing to risk. Good move. Junior came off, seemed completely buggered, but a second before he came off he kicked a really nice pass. Don't think he is necessarily injured, but maybe just a little sore. Perhaps a pre-planned move to have him play a half and then bring Bail in. Bruce copped a knock to the leg I think, but he's fine. Petterd committed yet another suicide mission, and was limping a bit afterwards, but also seems fine. Probably just got the wind knocked out of him.
  6. Watching Newton is like watching a car accident... it's so bad, but you can't look away. Loved how the commentators called him "exciting". One good mark does not exciting make! Is it wrong to be happy that Junior is out and Bail is in?
  7. Bell in the midfield. The dream is finally coming true! :D Spencer was doing really well and we were actually winning in the middle when he was rucking. McLean is definitely underdone and Miller still can't kick. Good to see some thing never change By the way, that Davey 'tunneling' incident should be reported!
  8. Love the white. The demon really pops out and the colour combination on the neckline and armholes is really modern and different.
  9. Stealing that as my new signature, thanks!
  10. So does anyone actually know anything? Anything at all?
  11. Thanks. Hopefully he just twisted or bruised the ankle/foot and they don't discover any fractures or anything. Sometimes these innocent incidents lead to big injuries, and knowing Rivers' luck... <_< I'm starting to wish Rivers wasn't so good, then it wouldn't matter that he is constantly injuring himself.
  12. Well, he did play a whole 5 minutes, which is an achievement in itself Did you see what actually happened?
  13. It's official, Rivers and football don't go together! :(
  14. That's the spirit! Who cares how ugly it is, wear it to wash your car or to the gym. The point is it's $60, of which $40 probably ends up in the club's pocket. Perhaps next year we can get something that doesn't look like it belongs at The Reject Shop, but until then, less complaining, more paying.
  15. Well I still stand by my previous comments regarding Carlton
  16. That polo is hardly the height of design or innovation, but I can understand why the club feels it has more important things to spend money on, than product developers (who are very expensive). Having said that, merchandise can and does generate a hell of a lot of money for many AFL clubs, and the same can be true for us if we put some effort into it. I'm waiting to get the OK from my employer and then I'll contact the club regarding this issue. I'm more than happy to offer my time and knowledge in the area of product development if it means helping the club generate more revenue through better merchandise.
  17. Good. Carlton can go and get fudged! Dick Pratt can surely buy them some grass or something
  18. There are several specialist taggers in the AFL who are excellent players and vital to their team's success (and I don't think I have to name them for you). If Dunn can add an element of attack to his game (and there is no reason why he can't given his general disposal skills), while still successfully shutting down the opposition's best player, than he too will be a vital and successful AFL player. This whole argument that he was a first round pick and yet has only turned out to be a tagger is silly! He's turned out to be a tagger because that's the only position where he has been given a significant amount of time to learn and develop.
  19. I expect us to go as hard as we possibly can and play anyone who is fit and ready. We need to win this competition for so many reasons, and above all else we need to get that winning feeling back to the club. We've been losing too much for too long. This is the only time in the season when average teams can win, so let us take full advantage of that!
  20. Thank you for the reports. Being on the other side of the world I'm starved for footy information. Brilliant news about Jared as well!
  21. When it happened 4 years ago I was overseas, and only got told about Broady through a friend. 4 years on and I'm back at the same place, but unfortunately for Troy's loved ones, so much has changed and they can't go back to a time where their husband/son/friend was still alive. I have no doubt you are resting in peace, and that you're watching over the Demons proudly.
  22. Bloody internet cafes  I'm overseas and finally found a place that will actually play the video, but I can't get any sound. I still laughed really loudly just watching it and people are now looking at me like I'm crazy...
  23. Yep. Ring the club on 9652 1111. Robbo will pick up the phone (don't get excited, it's a recorded message :D) and just follow the prompts.
  24. An exciting pick, and for all your tall-obsessed supporters we got us another one to add to the list. I love smokies, especially Indigenous players who have clearly had to overcome difficult conditions to play. You just never know how much they are capable of until you put them in a professional environment and give them the time and attention they need to grow as footballers. Watching these sort of players develop is one of the biggest joys of being an AFL supporter.
