I'm not in the 'sack Goody' camp but going out in straight sets two years in a row compounds the issue. I still believe he can turn it around next year, we just need some pizzaz, if you will.
-
I think Goody has to make some changes (from my very humble point of view). I'd love to see him get a little more creative with tactics and player positions, and change the way he uses the sub. But I'm not convinced we need a new coach right now. I can't see anyone on the open market offering more than he does at the moment. Plus, having to deal with all the [censored] that comes with finding and adjusting to a new coach is exhausting.
-
Gawny captain-coach ya reckon?
-
I believe we have the players there, but our forward coaching is a joke.
-
Max Gawn is a legend.
-
The dynasty should have come in the years we went out in straight sets, and we mostly have ourselves to thank for that. How bloody pathetic.
-
No cohesion, midfield non-existent, backline a mess. Bowey finally looking like his old self, one of the few shining lights.
-
We just don't know how to tackle anymore.
-
Jeffo in, Petty goes back (assuming May misses). McVee into the middle, Viney out.
-
No midfield, no Dees.
-
Viney and Oliver have been absolutely abysmal. Our midfield is literally Trent Rivers right now, insane.
-
We are Mike Tyson, they are Jake Paul.
-
You could be on the money!

I agree re his tenacity but he's getting on in age these days, him and the docs have to make sure he's looking after his body to make sure he's primed for next year. As I said though it's purely speculation on my part about him actually needing work done cc @monoccular

Part 9: Jason Taylor - Visionary or Over-rated - 2021
Little Richard replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
2021 has the makings of an exceptional draft year for us, but our trading has been deplorable. -
We are going to get hammered. Doggies are looking ominous at the moment.
-
May might be one that finishes his season early to go under the knife. Send Petty back, bring in Jeffo and see how he goes. Purely speculation at this stage though.
-
I'm still so surprised that Goody hasn't swapped TMac and Petty for any meaningful length of time this year. Surely it was worth a crack for at least a couple of games. We all know that Macca has a great track history up forward and Petty is an excellent key back. Too late now anyway.
-
Too much sooking about the umpires in this thread. Yes, they were poor, but when have they actually been good this year? This loss is firmly our own doing. We didn't take our chances when we were dominant early, and we switched off at the start of the fourth quarter.
-
For Sparrow to come straight back in would be pointless, there are obviously a few things he needs to keep working at. Considering the leniency he received for so long, however, I wouldn't be surprised if he did.
-
Gus Brayshaw is a loss of titanic proportions when we talk about mental fortitude.
-
Long contract but I like it. Building the nucleus of our next premiership side with these guys.
-
Brown in should be a lock, he's earned a game and at the moment looks like he'll offer more than Kolt and a couple of others.
-
Surely Sparrow has earned himself a stint at Casey but there are probably others that need to go before him. I think Bowey did enough to keep his spot, he was pretty decent in patches. However, Howes and Hore are both viable options to replace him or Salem if need be. Salem looked off it again, maybe another niggle. Kolt probably needs a rest. Billings was okay. As much as I would love to see Jeffo get a few games this year we're still in the hunt (though it doesn't feel like it), so we need to give ourselves the best shot possible at winning this week. OUT: Kolt, Salem/Sparrow IN: Brown, Howes/Hore

The answer remains the same - we don't trade Oliver.
