  1. Of course not, is he even out of contract? Adams we should definitely have a crack at.
  2. If we actually in some way managed to pick up Patty Dangerfield in a trade I would wet my pants with excitement. In regards to the priority pick, I agree with Supermercado - there is no way we'd deserve a pick in the first round and the other clubs would (fairly) spit chips.
  3. Lol.... had a quick look to remind myself of the horrors. Luke Molan at 9, Steven Armstrong at 25, Aaron Rogers at 26, Brad Miller at 55. All of those were fails (Molan and Rogers of epic proportions) except for Miller who was just a pass. However we did pick up Jamar in the rookie draft which meant it wasn't a totally muffed draft period. As I said earlier, I think it was pretty much the whole 2000's drafting and trading which crippled us, not just 2001 or any other year - not one star player picked up and way too many duds.
  4. Get him. He is exactly what we have been avoiding at the draft for the last 6 years (which means he is exactly what we need). Toughness, ball winner and can use the footy, what's not to like?
  5. It started in the late Daniher years I think. Too many senior players leaving/retiring and leaving a big gap thanks to Danihers 'top up' policy and poor drafting. That left a huge hole in experience and leadership which we did nothing to fill during Bailey's tenure. The youth policy just made it worse and poor coaching staff contributed... That's my take of how we got to here anyway.
  6. I just don't get why people think we will still shank our picks. Hasn't anyone realised that we have Jason Taylor now? And that Viney did a pretty good job last draft?
  7. I don't think trading is a realistic way to get us a midfielder or two to be honest. There aren't any foreseeable targets and few players who'd be wanting to come to us. Anyhow I don't think Boyd will be best available anyway. Pick up Aish or Dunstan - two better players imo
  8. Can't agree mate. When we are so extremely deficient in an area (the midfield), we need to address this. With pick 2, there are going to be a couple of options as to who is the best available - its subjective. Odds are it will be a midfielder anyway. Getting Boyd won't really improve our ability to win ball at stoppages and deliver it into the forward line, and I don't see many of the guys we have improving in that respect. Midfielders for me.
  9. We now have the people who can identify the best midfield talent in the draft (infinitely better than Prendergast), so we draft the best mid available at our pick. We took Cook because the recruiters didn't know what the hell they were doing.
  10. I wonder if that will contribute much to our decisions at the draft? I hope we don't go for him, mids mids and mids are what we should be after.
  11. Sounds like a plan, I'm sure I probably won't care by then!
  12. Yeah Vic. That's what I thought too, ended up with a few and kicked the match winning goal, guy can play!
  13. Currently watching Waylen playing for Lower Plenty against Heidelberg in the NFL. Very athletic but hasn't done a whole lot but has a huge leap.
  14. When did he admit that he 'turned the MFC player list to crap'? That sounds like rubbish. Try posting something that doesn't end with 'sack Neeld'.
  15. I'll absolutely be doing the same, it's just sad that it has come to this.
  16. If we ever get up the top of the ladder, other supporters will be ribbing us about how the AFL had to bail us out. That's the only thing I don't like about this, but we really need it sadly.
  17. People saying no to Lethal have to get a grasp on reality. We are the lowest we've ever been and some are rejecting the idea of one of the greatest players and coaches to ever grace the field taking over! Unbelievable. One of a number of options we should definitely be pursuing I think.
  18. As well as the health, the fact that he needs time away to decide whether he wants the position or not is not good news for me. We don't want someone going into the role half heartedly.
  19. Has to reach the minimum games first of all. Is it 150?
  20. Well good news. Looking forward to new leadership and a step in the right direction. Just want to say thanks to Don for his time as President. He saw some extremely tough times and I suspect he was never really keen on the Presidency. Appreciate all your work Don.
  21. It sends people into a frenzy because it looks like you are arguing one thing when really you are on a completely different page. It would help to proofread wyl. Now that you've clarified we should be aiming to get 40 000 for an interstate game at the MCG, I can definitely agree. It will take at least a few years of success to build up to that though.
  22. As well as that, if he signed a big money 5 year contract, he'd come out of that a very wealthy young man - and still only 23 years old. I'd suggest to him that he should make money while he is young and then if the MFC is still rubbish when the contact expires, he still has plenty of footy left and could chase success with another club. I hope we will at least be competetive in 5 years time anyway.
  23. I too have hopes for Barry Stuie, but I don't think the early signs are good. I see you've conveniently ignored Bitter But Optimistic's post about the weight - Barry is as far from playing a senior game as anyone on our list. The fact that he is 19 (and not a rookie) and is still so far away from a senior game is not a great start. I'm not dismissing him as a failure but he is going to have to shape up pretty quickly and throw on a few kilos - we already have enough players on the list that are 'a while off'.
  24. I definitely think that if his form continues this year, a one year contract is on the cards. If the form continues he deserves it and we really benefit by having him around the club.
